KAVARATTI
Kavaratti is the capital of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep in India. Kavaratti is a census town as well as the name of the atoll upon which the town stands. It is well known for its pristine white sand beaches and calm lagoons, which makes it a popular tourist destination. It is located 404 km west of the city of Kochi.
Tourism is one of the primary industries on the island. The island has pristine white sand beaches, favored by tourists for sun bathing. The calm lagoons on Kavaratti island are ideal for water sports and swimming.
A number of hotels and resorts have been developed on Kavaratti in recent years. The waters around the coral atoll are rich in diverse marine life. The Kavaratti Aquarium has a rich collection of corals and a vast collection of tropical fish specimens.
The other major industries on the island are fisheries and agriculture. Coconut is the dominant crop on the island. With the ascent of tourism, the fishing industry has seen a major decline
Transportation
Among the most popular means of travel to Kavaratti from the Indian mainland is via an overnight voyage by passenger ships. A number of passenger liners operate from Kochi to Kavaratti and other Lakshadweep islands.
The nearest domestic airport is Agatti Airport on Agatti Island 54 km away, followed by helicopter or boat transfers from Agatti to Kavaratti. Commercial flights usually operate from Kochi to Agatti.
The closest international airport is the Cochin International Airport in Kochi on the mainland

Agatti Islands is considered another jewel from the Lakshadweep group of islands in India. It is majorly known for its blissful beauty of coral reefs but the scenic beauty of the island is mesmerizing too. The island is situated on one of the coral isles of Lakshadweep islands and is few of the islands from the Lakshadweep group that is inhabited by people. Tourists often travel to Agatti Islands to bask in the sun, the white sand with crystal clear water under clear blue skies. With a total area of a little over 3 square kilometres, the island may be small compared to many other islands but it is nothing but a sheer paradise for beach lovers and offbeat travellers.

Lakshadweep is a group of 36 islands, the name means ‘a hundred thousand islands’. It's known for its exotic and sun-kissed beaches and lush green landscape. This one is my first visit to Kavaratti, the capital of Lakshadweep and one of the popular tourist destinations.
Started my journey from Cochin International Airport. First destination was Agatti island, where the one and only airport in Lakshadweep islands is situated. Then we get in to a mini ship to reach Kavaratti. This video comprises the whole journey from Kochi to Kavaratti with description in Malayalam.

The name ‘Lakshadweep’ literally means one lakh islands. It is located off the Kerala coast in the Arabian Sea. Parts of the island system have been deliberately kept detached from tourism to preserve their rich natural habitat. Out of the 36 Lakshadweep islands, 10 are inhabited and only five are accessible to tourists.
Lakshadweep tourism is primarily centered around water sports. Some of the activities you can indulge in are scuba diving, snorkelling, parasailing, kayaking, sailing, glass bottom boat ride tours, fishing, water skiing and deep sea fishing. You can also set out on excursion tours to nearby islands like Bangaram, Thinnakara, Parali and Kalpitty.
