DIY Pontoon Raft Performance on the Swan RiverA few years ago, this home-made drum raft pontoon spent 6 weeks on the challenging Murray River in Victoria. It housed 2 blokes and 3 dogs and towed a decent sized dinghy with supplies. The temperatures were freezing.
SO todays relaxing amble down the Swan River for “Ponty” the pontoon was a cinch.
Perth sparkled on a warm 25 degree day showing off the city skyline, Optus Stadium, Crown Casino and past Heirrisson Island.
We take you under the Matagarup Bridge opened in 2018 and under the causeway built in 1952 and recognised for its heritage value.
The pontoon started out life with metal drums but after rust began to show it was relaunched with 44 gallon poly drums in February 2016. It is really easy to enjoy a day out on the river with plenty of room to walk around and a lounge, kitchen area and of course the pot belly stove.
Brett, myself and guests Laurie and Amanda enjoyed great food, wine and company on our day out - Ponty on the Swan.
