WE VISITED THE SAUDI YEMEN BORDER (SHOCKED)???????????????? NAJRAN SAUDI ARABIA TRAVEL VLOG S4 EP36 IMMY &TANI

Salam Travel Family! ✈️ We are currently in Saudi Arabia doing our PAKISTAN TO SAUDI ARABIA SERIES!
Today we are traveling from Riyadh to Najran. Najran (Arabic: نجران Najrān), is a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. Najran was a Yemeni center of cloth making and originally, the kiswah or the cloth of the Ka'aba was made there (the clothing of the Kaba first started by the Yemeni kings of Saba). There used to be a Jewish community at Najran, renowned for the garments they manufactured. In this vlog we will be exploring the rich culture of this Yemen border town and meet many Yemeni people. We will also visit the gun and knife market which is a popular thing to do in Najran. Watch till the end to see the most shocking part!

Adventures in Sana'a, Yemen

On today's adventure I'm giving you a quick tour of Sana'a, Yemen. I went to Sana'a a couple of times but this is the last time in summer of 2010. I had a two day layover while flying to Asmara, Eritrea to visit family and I will be uploading more on Eritrea in the next videos. Flying routes to Eritrea is very limited because of the limited amount of airlines that go there. Most of time you have to layover in Dubai UAE, Saudi Arabia or if you want to save some money you can take 2 day layover in Yemen.

By the way, I wouldn't recommend the Yemen route especially to females. Yemen is a strict and dangerous Arab country with foreigners getting kidnapped all the time and soldiers doing random stops on the road and checking documentation. I was often scared that I might get kidnapped or raped because there was not much security cameras in the hotel plus I was venturing out to the city on my own. Well kind of, I had my wonderful taxi driver that was a lifesaver. He didn't just take me to one place he took the courtesy to give me a driving tour of Sana'a, took me to the old city to shop, picked out good stores for me, and even offered to have me over to have dinner with his family.

He also helped me get some good quality Qat or Chat depending on what country you're from. Qat is a leaf that you chew or let it sit in your mouth similar to chewing tobacco but stronger effect most chew for concentration and focus. I didn't really have time to partake in most of what he got me because it was my last day and I was scared I might have a reaction and no one to help me plus I didn't want to miss my flight. Most men and boys in Yemen were walking around chewing this leaf so instead of trashing it, I left it for the hotel cleanup people. Hopefully someone really enjoyed it I was too much of a chicken to take enough to get the effects of it.

Overall I had a good time in Sana'a even though it was a little scary but most adventures are, you just have to approach it with an open mind and it might just turn out to be great.

Please subscribe to my Youtube so you won't miss my next adventure, I promise it will only keep getting better. You can also go to americangypc.com for more information.

Yemen's Women Diaries

Tackled by separatist factions, Al-Qaeda operations, unpredictable revolts and critical poverty the future of Yemen seems doomed. But traveling in this Arabian country was perhaps one of the most fascinating experiences I have had, especially because I got the chance to get to know my Yemeni counterparts: the women fully covered under those black veils. Who were they like under those dark garments? Are they repressed or do they really feel more comfortable covered? Let me introduce you to them in this Diaries report from Sana'a, the capital of Yemen.

History of Yemen

Yemen is one of the oldest centers of civilization in the Near East. Its relatively fertile land and adequate rainfall in a moister climate helped sustain a stable population, a feature recognized by the ancient Greek geographer Ptolemy, who described Yemen as Eudaimon Arabia (better known in its Latin translation, Arabia Felix) meaning fortunate Arabia or Happy Arabia.
