Riding atop individual, two-wheeled Light Cycles, guests will be launched across a canopied section of track – the Upload Conduit – before diving high-speed into a mysterious game world of lights, projection and sound effects. Guests waiting to board will have fun imagining the Grid as they listen to the evocative soundtrack and watch the Light Cycle trains twist and turn all around them, all under a color-shifting canopy.
Even at a distance, guests will marvel at the massive, undulating canopy. Covered in a translucent material, it reveals the pulsing glow of Lightcycle trains as they zip through the attraction. The entire canopy is edged in a dramatic, blue-green ribbon that changes color as it rolls across, over and around the Tron Plaza, like the tail of a dragon.

TRON Lightcycle / Run front seat on-ride 5K POV @60fps Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom
Based on the TRON film franchise, this semi-enclosed launched Vekoma motorbike roller coaster takes guests on a ride through the Grid on their own light cycle. Reaching speeds of nearly 60 mph (97 km/h), it's the fastest Disney roller coaster.
It was originally scheduled to open for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary in fall 2021, but due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening date had to be postponed until April 4, 2023.
Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom is located near Orlando in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Take a ride on TRON Lightcycle Power Run, a launch coaster located at Shanghai Disneyland in China. Based on the TRON series, this thrilling attraction takes guests on a ride through the Grid on their own light cycle.
This heavily themed attraction is manufactured by Vekoma and opened at Shanghai Disneyland in 2016. When aboard the ride vehicle, riders lean forward and grip a set of handlebars. A pad situated behind the seat secures the rider in place.

TRON Roller Coaster: Magic Kingdom vs Shanghai Disneyland Comparison - Full 4K POV
I am happy to report that both versions of TRON are exactly the same! I loved this coaster when I first rode it in Shanghai in 2016, and it is just as awesome in 2023.
A few notes about this video:
- The canopy lighting is constantly changing so it is not the same in both videos. From what I can tell, all the same effects exist on both versions of the ride.
- The ride seems to go **slightly** slower on the Shanghai version most likely due to there being less weight on the train.
- For those saying this ride is too short ... well, it's about the same length of track as Rock n Roller Coaster and Space Mountain, and it is actually longer than Big Thunder and Seven Dwarfs. I think it just feels shorter because it launches to 59mph / 94kph and the entire ride is very fast!
- For those of you saying This ride doesn't look that thrilling it is VERY thrilling for a Disney coaster. Sure, it's not Kingda Ka or anything, but this is also a Disney park. It is easily my favorite coaster Disney has ever built!

2018 Tron Lightcycle Power Run Roller Coaster On Ride Front Seat 4K POV Queue Shanghai Disneyland
Take a front seat ride on the Tron Lightcycle Power Run Roller Coaster at Shanghai Disneyland. This was my first trip here and to China and was pleasantly surprised by the park. The park was clean and the guests were well behaved unlike what I have read and seen in mentions by other Disney Vloggers. The ride was amazing and can't wait to ride it when it comes to the Magic Kingdom in Florida.
I had to use a wrist mounted Gopro to film this so the low light performance is not as good as my other videos. In fact, my Sony A7s died on the trip and I had to get a cheap Sony a6300 as an emergency back up camera. So the Shanghai Disneyland POV will as nice in low light as I normally would like. Which means I will have to make another visit.
You can hear my horrible attempt at speaking Mandarin Chinese in the video. All you native speakers try not to laugh too much for this ABC's (American Born Chinese) attempt at Chinese.

They are clones! There are definitely a few small improvements to the Magic Kingdom version, but I found it satisfying that the audio nearly synced up between the two different povs.
