Zacatecas - Mexico
Zacatecas is a state of Mexico, located in the northern region. It is bounded to the northwest by Durango, to the north by Coahuila, to the east by San Luis Potosí, to the south by Aguascalientes and Guanajuato and to the southwest by Jalisco and Nayarit. The state is best known for its rich deposits of silver ore, its colonial architecture and its importance during the revolution. Zacatecas has 58 municipalities and the main economic activities are mining, agriculture and tourism. The state shares its name with its capital and chief center of population, the city of Zacatecas, Zacatecas. ( source Wikipedia )

???????? ZACATECAS, MEXICO - Welcome to Part 21 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series!! After flying from Sonora back to Mexico City to collect a new passport, I headed back north through San Luis Potosí to another one of what I consider to be one of the BEST cities to visit in Mexico!

As with San Luis, Zacatecas was just a flying visit! This is the first of 2 videos in and around Zacatecas. Before heading to Guadalupe next time for a regular style video, it’s time to go out on a Saturday night to witness CRAZY TAMBORAZO in Zacatecas - it’s ICONIC!
Tamborazo is a traditional style of music involving usually a small group of musicians playing instruments such as drums, trombones etc. They walk through the city with a crowd of locals following them and dancing. It’s one of my favourite things to do in Zacatecas!
Many expats are moving to Mexico, but Zacatecas is often overlooked in favour of Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende etc. If I were to move to Mexico, Zacatecas would be one of my top 3 possible locations! Zacatecas has had some coverage recently about safety in relation to cartels, but as a foreigner, you're unlikely to run into troubles unless you're involved in illegal activity. Is Mexico safe? Is Mexico dangerous etc. I'm just putting that in for SEO obviously LOL.

Zacatecas Ciudad Colonial y Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad
Zacatecas es una de las ciudades coloniales más bellas del país pues cuenta con un acervo arquitectónico histórico importante pues fue el punto de partida para la evangelización católica, mayoritariamente franciscana, de la región. Con la llegada de los españoles se convirtió en uno de los estados más importantes en extracción de minerales preciosos como la plata.
“Zacatecas tiene piel de cantera y corazón de plata”, es la frase con la que sus habitantes describen esta hermosa ciudad colonial, reconocida como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Rodeada por una impresionante naturaleza (donde sobresale el singular Cerro de la Bufa), la traza urbana consiste en callejones y plazas que encierran pedazos de historia, sobre todo de la época revolucionaria, del resplandor minero y de la visita del Papa Juan Pablo II.
Hoy también es uno de los mejores destinos para gozar del arte, desde los coloridos bordados huicholes hasta las pinturas de Goitia, Ruelas, Felguérez y los hermanos Coronel. Además, aquí podrás subirte al teleférico para obtener increíbles panorámicas e introducirte en su interesante Mina El Edén.
Conocida como la ciudad con Rostro de cantera y corazón de plata, la ciudad de Zacatecas es una de las diez ciudades mexicanas que han sido distinguidas como Patrimonio Mundial por parte de la Unesco, en virtud de su valioso patrimonio cultural colonial que hace la delicia de los turistas.
El visitante encuentra en Zacatecas una ecléctica combinación de atracciones, ya que mientras que varios de los pacíficos callejones y edificios coloniales ofrecen una grata experiencia de quietud; esta gema colonial tiene para la aventura dos de las mejores experiencias turísticas: un viaje por abajo de la tierra a una mina de plata y un teleférico que se balancea por un cable por encima de la ciudad.

Adicionalmente, en los entornos de este destino hay otras insospechadas alternativas turísticas interesantes de descubrir como las zonas arqueológicas: “
La Quemada” (mejor conocida como “Chicomostoc”) y, “Alta Vista” (en Chalchihuites); la cautivante población de Jerez, declarada en el 2007 “Pueblo Mágico”; además de los extraordinarios y asombrosos paisajes naturales que ofrecen las Sierra de Órganos, de Sombrerete y la Sierra de Cardos, en Jerez.
Este listado sin duda alguna quedaría incompleto si no se incluyera a dos de sus más conocidos atractivos, como lo son: la Mina “El Edén” y el Teleférico, los cuales provocan de manera particular un excepcional interés entre los visitantes.
Zacatecas es hoy día uno de los destinos turísticos más frecuentados de México, con una importante oferta de servicios y facilidades para congresos y convenciones, con hoteles únicos en su clase y originalidad, como el “Quinta Real” (inscrito en una antigua plaza de toros del s. XIX) y, el “Mesón de Jobito”, igualmente apropiado en una pintoresca vecindad de ese período los cuales, por sus particulares características, se suman al conjunto de atractivos que identifican a la ciudad.
Teleférico
Por siglos, Zacatecas sirvió como frontera norte del Imperio Español del Nuevo Mundo. Cruzadas religiosas se aventuraron al hostil territorio del norte de la entonces denominada Nueva España (incluyendo hasta lo que ahora es el sur de Estados Unidos.
La riqueza de esta ciudad y su posición estratégica fueron codiciadas por facciones en guerra durante casi todo el siglo XIX. En 1914, una de las más grandes batallas militares de la Revolución Mexicana fue llevada a cabo ahí, cuando las tropas de Pancho Villa derrotaron un ejército de 12,000 soldados bajo las órdenes del General Huerta.
A diferencia de otras ciudades coloniales, Zacatecas, debido a su ubicación en un barranco, tiene una calle principal (Av. Hidalgo) que corre de sur a norte a través del centro de la ciudad; comienza en el sur pasando por abajo de un bello acueducto de la era colonial y continúa hacia el norte por la Plaza de Armas, después por el centro y al final por el Ex-convento de San Francisco (Museo “Rafael Coronel”).
El paseo por esta ciudad ofrece la experiencia de vivir una época pasada, en donde el tiempo “perdura vivo”, pues se ha quedado contenido en la magia de sus edificios, en sus retorcidas callejuelas, en sus añosas puertas, en los sonidos de las campanas de sus iglesias, en los largos y silenciosos pasillos de sus monasterios y en sus múltiples historias.

???????? DURANGO, MEXICO - Welcome back to Mexico everyone! We're back in Mexico once again (for the 7th time!) and this time it's time to come out of our comfort zone by heading to the northern states of Durango, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Sonora and Baja California!
Foreigner moves to Durango, Mexico? That's right! In this, my first video from Durango (I'll be here for around 2 months, until mid-June) I talk through some first impressions, visit the spacious Plaza de Armas/Zona Centro, head up in the Teleferico (yes!) and devour some local food at a restaurant which was recommended to me.
The other point on my mind is around asking the questions, When will we stop asking, Is Mexico Safe?. Can we ever NORMALISE NOT IMMEDIATELY ASSOCIATING Mexico with danger, safety and cartels? Granted, these things are valid concerns, but they are valid concerns in ANY country. It's time we stopped singling out Mexico and think about the impact this 'danger' focus has on Mexicans.

Coahuila y su desierto son tierra de dinosaurios, pues es el estado que alberga el mayor número de fósiles de todo México.
Aquí pudimos encontrar unas huellas fosilizadas de dinosaurios, los antiguos habitantes del altiplano mexicano.
Guiados por un biólogo amante de la paleontología fuimos en búsqueda de fósiles en una caminata nocturna por el desierto, donde nos sorprendimos de su extraordinaria biodiversidad.
También visitamos el Museo del Desierto para conocer la labor de conservación y descubrimiento de nuevos dinosaurios mexicanos, enterrados en el mayor desierto del país: el chihuahuense, el cual se extiende por varios estados del norte de México, entre ellos Coahuila.

San Luis is absolutely a growing Mexico tourism destination in Mexico. It’s even becoming more popular with expats or those wishing to move to Mexico.
Many ask whether Mexico is safe or dangerous and as a result, stick to Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende. The fact is, SLP is just as beautiful and is absolutely a viable destination! There are many things to do, including seeing the spectacular and iconic Mexican churches! It's an ideal location for expats or those planning on moving to Mexico. Potosinos and Potosinas are probably some of the proudest people in Mexico and will always welcome you with open arms!

Huasteca Potosina, cómo planear tu viaje
Cómo planear tu viaje a la Huasteca Potosina, en este video te decimos todo lo que necesitas saber para planear tu aventura a San Luis Potosí. Sigue leyendo la descripción para más información.
*¿Como llegar en avión o en autobús a la Huasteca Potosina?
-Si visitas la Huasteca Potosina desde otro estado de los que ya mencionamos o vienes desde otro país, lo mejor es volar hacia los aeropuertos internacionales más cercanos que son el de la ciudad de Tampico o el de la Capital de San Luis Potosí, considera rentar un auto o contratar un Tour para facilitarte el transporte.
Para conseguir vuelos baratos hacia San Luis Potosí visita:
-Si sales de la Ciudad de México toma en la Central del Norte un camión Turistar Ejecutivo ETN o un Omnibus de México en la Central del Norte hacia Ciudad Valles.
-De Querétaro, León, Guadalajara y Toluca también puedes tomar un Omnibus de México hacia Ciudad Valles.
-De Monterrey tómalo en Transpais o Senda.
-De San Luis Potosí utiliza Transportes Vencedor.
*¿Que ruta hacer para visitar la Huasteca Potosina?
-Si viajas de Nuevo León o del norte de Tamaulipas, la carretera #85 es la mejor opción, así que puedes comenzar por llegar a Ciudad Valles, que es el corazón de la Huasteca.
-Si viajas desde el sur de Tamaulipas o de la parte norte de Veracruz, la forma más sencilla de llegar a Ciudad Valles es la carretera #70.
-Si vienes de Hidalgo, Querétaro, y Ciudad de México o cualquier otro estado del centro del país, tienes dos opciones, la más aventurera es optar por las carreteras libres #85 y #120 que te llevarán a Xilitla, sin embargo estas carreteras atraviesan la sierra madre oriental, así que están llenas de curvas y pueden ser difíciles de manejar.
-La segunda opción es viajar a través de la autopista de cuota Querétaro / San Luis Potosí, y después usar el libramiento hacia la carretera de cuota Rio Verde / Ciudad Valles. Esta vía puede parecer más larga, sin embargo es la más recomendable.
*¿Cuál es la mejor temporada para visitar la Huasteca Potosina?
La mejor temporada es de enero a marzo, aunque te tocarán algunas cascadas con poca agua, hace buen clima y no hay lluvia. O de octubre a diciembre pero el agua está muy fría. Consulta el estatus actual de la Huasteca Potosina

Tamasopo: Cascadas de Tamasopo, Puente de Dios
Ciudad Valles: Cascadas de Micos
Aquismón: Cascada de Tamul, Sótano de las Golondrinas

Lleva ropa fresca como playeras o blusas delgadas, shorts, pantalones (evita la mezclilla cuando vayas a las cascadas, tardarás mucho en secarte), zapatos acuáticos para que puedas meterte a los ríos y no te lastimes con alguna piedra o te resbales. Repelente de mosquitos, bloqueador solar biodegradable, unos googles para que veas los peces debajo del agua, traje de baño, una toalla no tan estorbosa y zapatos cómodos como tenis o botas. Evita tacones, el piso es irregular y/o empedrado y te puedes lastimar.
*¿Cuándo no conviene ir a la Huasteca Potosina?
La temporada de lluvias comienza en junio y termina en septiembre, esto hace que el agua de los ríos suba de nivel por lo que Protección Civil ha habido ocasiones en las que decide suspender actividades para evitar accidentes.
En Semana Santa se llena de muchísima gente la Huasteca Potosina y no se disfruta igual. Lo mejor es ir en temporada baja para que no esté todo saturado, puedas aprovechar bien tu tiempo y no lo pierdas en filas de más de dos horas.
*¿Cuánto dinero necesito para visitar la Huasteca?
Viajar a la Huasteca Potosina no tiene que ser caro si lo planeas con tiempo. Contempla unos $250 a $300 pesos diarios para los alimentos por persona. El hospedaje varían los costos, esto depende de la temporada en la que viajes y el estilo al que estés acostumbrado. Si viajas en grupos de 2 a 4 personas contempla unos $1,000 a $2,000 pesos la noche. Si eres mochilero entonces unos $100 a $300 pesos para acampar u hospedarte en algún hostal.

Mexican Fire Department | Two Americans Found Dead in Mexico
Mexican Fire Department in Baja Californis Sur. El Pescadero in BCS has a small FIre Department and is All Volunteer. The respond to both local and foreigners equally. Not only are they all volunteers, they get all their funds from donations. Recently this title ( Two Americans Found Dead in Mexico ) appeared in several news organizations in the USA. Members of this small Fire Department responded to the emergency call for the Americans.
