????????It's time for another day in Montreal, Canada! This time I'm checking the famous Montreal dish, Poutine at Poutineville, heading to a Christmas market for some Churros (yes, Churros!) and taking a walk up Boulevard St Laurent in preperation for some awesome food in the next video! There are so many things to do in Montreal, perhaps you may want to add a few of these to your list!!

Sorry for the lighting in this video, my equipment is not great in low light conditions. It is purposely edited in a backwards and non-linear form (all in the wrong order) as I felt like doing something different!

????????POUTINE - (Source - Wikipedia) is a dish originating from the Canadian province of Quebec, consisting of French fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. The dish emerged in the late 1950s in the Centre-du-Québec area and has long been associated with the cuisine of Quebec. For many years, it was negatively perceived and mocked, and even used as a means of stigmatization against Quebec society. Later, poutine became celebrated as a symbol of Québécois cultural pride, and its rise in prominence led to popularity outside the province, especially in the rest of Central Canada, in the Northeastern United States and even Japan.

????????ST LAURENT - Saint Laurent Boulevard also known as Saint Lawrence Boulevard (officially in French: boulevard Saint-Laurent) is a major street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A commercial artery and cultural heritage site, the street runs north-south through the near-centre of city and is nicknamed The Main (French: La Main) which is the abbreviation for Main Street.

???????? The REAL MONTREAL? | DRUGS, DETOURS and OVERPRICED Attractions | HOCHELAGA-MAISONNEUVE

*I have a new WEBSITE! Head over to for Travel, Digital Nomad and Teaching blog posts incorporating video, text and photography, purchase my Teaching Online Ebooks (also at take advantage of my affiliates and even book an English lesson with me at ???????? MONTREAL, CANADA - Welcome back to Montreal! This video is PART 3 of my 7 part Montreal series in addition to the 3 part series I filmed back in December 2018 on a previous visit.

When it comes to Montreal, many people focus on the key tourist areas such as Mont Royal, Old Montreal and the Old Port, but often learn very little about the history or origin of Montreal.

In this video we head to Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, a far more residential area or Montreal similar to areas like Verdun, with independent shops and locals going about their daily lives - real life in Montreal!

I always enjoy coming to areas like this. Furthermore, Hochelaga itself was the original village Jacques Cartier discovered when he arrived in Canada in the 1500s. We also head to the Olympic Park, have an epic fail when refusing to pay for the Jardin Botanique and the (currently under renovation) Biodome and Insectarium.

We also look at the things no one wants to talk about - there is homelessness and drug use in Montreal, just like every city in the world, but it was definitely more evident in these areas of Montreal than others I have visited.

There are some food videos coming up!

MUSIC - (all EPIDEMIC SOUND)
Crystalline - Dovetail (Intro montages)
Summer Bells - Viewpoints (Olympic Park)

In 2017 we bought our first sprinter van and spent 30 days renovating it into our dream tiny home. The plan was to van life around the world and we'd made it all the way from Canada to Africa. Fast forward to COVID...us abandoning our van in a Moroccan parking lot, flying home to Canada, converting yet another van, and then moving to our cabin in the woods.

We've always envisioned moving into the woods by the lake and building our dream tiny cabin as a home base for us to come back to in between our international van life travels. With our sights set on returning to Morocco (after this hard year of cancer treatment), we thought it was time we dust off our van life skills. So, we squeeze 4 people into our sprinter van conversion for 48 hours!

???????? SUMMER Versus WINTER IN MONTRÉAL, CANADA! | VIEUX-PORT & OLD MONTREAL (PART TWO)

*I have a new WEBSITE! Head over to for Travel, Digital Nomad and Teaching blog posts incorporating video, text and photography, purchase my Teaching Online Ebooks (also at take advantage of my affiliates and even book an English lesson with me at ???????? MONTRÉAL, CANADA - Hola amigos and welcome back to Montreal for PART 2 of my 7 PART SERIES! This time we are checking out the historical area of OLD MONTREAL and VIEUX-PORT du MONTREAL (Old Port) as well as visiting MARCHE BONSECOURS and PARC LA FONTAINE!

If you're looking for things to do in Montreal in the Summer, these areas are ideal as they full of throngs of people especially at the weekend. Old Montreal has beautiful architecture and it's interesting to learn about the fascinating history of Montreal in terms of Jacques Cartier, Hochelaga and the Iroquians.

Marche Bonseceur is the old city hall and is now a shopping area full of clothing, souvenirs, cider and of course, maple syrup! There's so much to do at the Old Port including the ferris wheel, food and many activities for children as well as a zipline and Cirque du Soliel!

The theme of thus video is contrast and transformation - Montreal is SO different in the summer compared to it's icy winter. This is also true in terms of my attitude towards long term travel and what I'm doing going forward. This summer feels like the last leg!

MUSIC - (all EPIDEMIC SOUND)
History of my Heart - Headlund (intro, bonseceurs, outro)
Runaway Deer - Arc de Soliel (intro montage & old montreal montage)

LEAVING MONTREAL FOR 6 MONTHS - Discovering Freedom sabbatical leave!

The day has come and we're feeling awesome !

Today we embark on our new adventure called freedom. Lia and I have both traded our jobs for freedom. We will take time to recharge and travel. Being jobless is a fear we all have, but we feel ok about it. Right now we are focussing on the word ''happiness'' as we embrace the freedom to find a different meaning to our lives.
We are getting ready to Discover new Destinations, leaving Montreal for 6 months, starting with South America - Brazil and then see where it takes us...

Visiting Montreal

Hey guys!!! Welcome to vlog # 28. This time featuring our visit to the city of Montreal in Canada. This is quite a short tour guys so we are hoping you'll enjoy the video.
Thanks to Vilma Arnaiz and daughter Chelsea for driving us around Montreal. We had fun!!!

Thanks for watching and see you in my next vlog.

My visit to Ottawa & Montreal!

Part 1 - Thursday August 15, 2019 I re-visited the Rideau Canal, for the third time this year... most beautiful time to see the canal filled with water. Perfect temperature to walk around in a t-shirt and shorts!!!
Checked out more things in Ottawa, Ontario this time as I stayed with a local and she showed me around more of the city.

Part 2 - Sunday August 18, 2019 we headed to Montreal, Quebec on the bus. Checked into our AirBnB and then went for a beautiful evening walk on the hill known as Mount Royal or Mont Royal in French. Climbed to the top of the hill and enjoyed the Observatory view of downtown Montreal.

The music and sound effects I use: - AMAZING for YouTubers!
