🇨🇦 SUMMER Versus WINTER IN MONTRÉAL, CANADA! | VIEUX-PORT & OLD MONTREAL (PART TWO)

🇨🇦 MONTRÉAL, CANADA - Hola amigos and welcome back to Montreal for PART 2 of my 7 PART SERIES! This time we are checking out the historical area of OLD MONTREAL and VIEUX-PORT du MONTREAL (Old Port) as well as visiting MARCHE BONSECOURS and PARC LA FONTAINE!

If you're looking for things to do in Montreal in the Summer, these areas are ideal as they full of throngs of people especially at the weekend. Old Montreal has beautiful architecture and it's interesting to learn about the fascinating history of Montreal in terms of Jacques Cartier, Hochelaga and the Iroquians.

Marche Bonseceur is the old city hall and is now a shopping area full of clothing, souvenirs, cider and of course, maple syrup! There's so much to do at the Old Port including the ferris wheel, food and many activities for children as well as a zipline and Cirque du Soliel!

The theme of thus video is contrast and transformation - Montreal is SO different in the summer compared to it's icy winter. This is also true in terms of my attitude towards long term travel and what I'm doing going forward. This summer feels like the last leg!

MUSIC - (all EPIDEMIC SOUND)
History of my Heart - Headlund (intro, bonseceurs, outro)
Runaway Deer - Arc de Soliel (intro montage & old montreal montage)

My Winter Experience at Montréal, Quebec

The first time I experienced winter, I fell in love with it. It was love at first sight despite the biting cold and the occasional runny nose. The moment I went outside the terminal building of Pearson Airport, the cold wind struck without warning. I know it was almost March, but Spring wasn't around the corner yet. Canadian winters are known to last until May! Since my friend and I were itching for a new adventure, we decided to take a road trip up north to #Montréal, Quebec!

Shout out to my awesome friend, Jason, for touring me around Montréal!

Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau.

Old Montreal

Old Montreal (French: Vieux-Montréal) is a historic neighbourhood within the municipality of Montreal in the province of Quebec, Canada. Founded by French settlers in 1642 as Fort Ville-Marie, Old Montreal is home to many structures dating back to the era of New France. The 17th century settlement lends its name to the borough in which the neighbourhood lies, Ville-Marie. Home to the Old Port of Montreal, the neighbourhood is bordered on the west by McGill Street, on the north by Ruelle des Fortifications, on the east by rue Saint-André, and on the south by the Saint Lawrence River. Following recent amendments, the neighbourhood has expanded to include the Rue des Soeurs Grises in the west, Saint Antoine Street in the north, and Saint Hubert Street in the east. In 1964, much of Old Montreal was declared a historic district by the Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec.

We Stayed Up All Night in Montréal

Me and Jimmy took a trip up to Montréal where we met our friend Mike who's been living there for the summer. It also happened to be Jimmy's birthday at midnight, so we stayed up all night.

Montréal is an incredible city. The vibes are so positive and everything has a little touch of Europe to it. This was the first night of a week long trip that would end with us going to Osheaga Music Festival 2018. Lots more footage might be coming out from this trip.

Head to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for a look at some of the free current exhibitions. We're here at Park Mount Royal to walk around and head to the lookout point for amazing city views. We chose to stay in the neighborhood of Le Plateau-Mont Royal. On Sunday afternoons you'll find a huge drumming circle on the east end of Mount Royal called Tam Tams. McGill University is one of the most prestigious universities in all of Canada. Poutine, a French Canadian dish, it is basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. For a taste of French charm, wander down the cobbled streets of Old Montreal. Tonight we're at the Cirque du Soleil for a circus performance. The biodome is a popular attraction for families with children. Olympic Stadium is the former home of the Montreal Expos. The botanical gardens are home to beautiful gardens. Bell Center is home to the Montreal Canadiens, one of the most celebrated NHL franchises. There is no better place ot eat smoked meat in Montreal than Schwartz. The Notre Dame Basilica is located in the historic district of Old Montreal. If you enjoy checking out graffiti around Saint Catherine street which is also a shopping district. Eat St. Viateur bagels, which are really famous here in Montreal. A great way to get around the city is by Bixi bike. Montreal's Old Port is worth a wander.
