Plaza de Cibeles Fountain Madrid Spain
Cibeles Fountain was designed by Ventura Rodriguez and sculpted in 1782. It depicts Cybele, the Greek goddess of nature and fertility, holding a sceptre and a key atop a chariot drawn by two lions. It stands in the centre of the Plaza de Cibeles
Palacio de Cibeles was built in 1909 by architect Antonio Palacios. originally as the headquarters of the country’s post office but now the Madrid City Hall.
The dome of the Edificio de Seguros La Aurora built in 1880 by Ramón Pla Monje has a statue of Roman goddess of the dawn Aurora driving a Quadriga, a four-horse chariot by Juan Adsuara 1920
The nearby Puerta de Alcalá in Plaza de Independencia was built in 1778 by Italian architect Francesco Sabatini. This triumphal gate was once the main entrance to the city. It was commissioned by King Charles III - over time nicknamed the Best Mayor of Madrid

It is the second-largest city in the European Union (EU), surpassed only by Berlin, and its metropolitan area is the second-largest in the EU, surpassed only by Paris. As the capital city of Spain, seat of government, residence of the Spanish monarch, Madrid is also the political, economic and cultural centre of the country.
Our guided walking tour is about 6.21 miles (10 km) long, starts at Sun Gate Square (Puerta del Sol), ends at El Retiro Park and covers most attractions and historic sites of Madrid.

Así es la Gran Vía,Cibeles y puerta de alcalá(Walking tour)España 2020.
La Puerta de Alcalá, a pocos metros de la Plaza de Cibeles, es uno de los monumentos más reconocibles de Madrid junto al Parque de El Retiro y la comercial calle Serrano.
Dos de las arquitecturas más emblemáticas de la capital española.
como llegar:Al estar en el centro, puedes llegar caminando desde muchos de los lugares de interés de Madrid. Por ejemplo, desde la mencionada Puerta del Sol apenas tardarás un cuarto de hora. A apenas cinco minutos tienes El Retiro y muy cerca están el Museo del Prado o el Thyssen-Bornemisza.
En metro también es sencillo. La parada Banco de España, de la línea 2 te deja en la misma plaza de Cibeles. Esta línea cruza buena parte de Madrid, por lo que tiene transbordos con muchas otras de la red del suburbano madrileño.
En lo que respecta al autobús, son muchas las líneas que pasan por la plaza de Cibeles. Las líneas 1, 2, 9, 10, 15, 20, 34, 51, 52, 53, 74, 146, 202 y 203 tienen parada en la plaza. Y los autobuses nocturnos, los búhos, parten de esta conocida plaza.
La última opción es el tren, pero en este caso tendrás que caminar un poco. Para llegar a la plaza de Cibeles en Madrid puedes bajar en las estaciones de Sol, Recoletos o Atocha. El paseo desde cualquiera de ellas no es largo y te permitirá ir disfrutando de otros tesoros de la ciudad.

Plaza de Cibeles was originally named Plaza de Madrid, but in 1900, the City Council named it Plaza de Castelar, which was eventually replaced by its current name.
It is currently delimited by four prominent buildings: the Bank of Spain Building, the Palacio de Buenavista, the Palace of Linares (Palacio de Linares), and the Cybele Palace (Palacio de Cibeles). These constructions are located in four different neighbourhoods from three different adjacent districts: Centro, Retiro, and Salamanca.
Over the years, Cybele Palace and her fountain have become symbolic monuments of the city.

The building was designed by Antonio Palacios.
It used to be the main office of the Spanish postal service, that is why it is known as Palacio de Comunicaciones (Communications Palace).
From the end of 2007 serves as the new Madrid City Hall.
You can visit free of charge the cultural centre called CentroCentro inside the palace.
Periodic exhibitions take place inside.
At specific hours, you can visit the rooftop paying a small fee.
At the time the video was recorded, the sign “refugees welcome” was still visible on top of the emblematic building.
Don’t omit to have a look at the Fuente de las Cibeles, the big fountain at the center of the square.
