$40 Apartment vs. $30 Hotel in Vietnam ????????

$5 Hotel vs. $100 Hotel Nepal ????????

■ NEPAL, KATHMANDU: Wherever I go in this world I like to stay in hotels in the $30 to $40 range. Even in Europe or America it's generally possible to find something in that range. You just have to compromise a lot on quality, amenities and comfort.

But how cheap can a hotel room get if you're willing to compromise on hygiene, cleanliness, amenities, quality (essentially everything) in a country like Nepal?

Well, that's what I set out to investigate as I left the relative comfort of my $100 suite hotel room to search for Kathmandu's cheapest hotel room.

Thank you very much everyone for all the love you send my way. I assure you, the feeling is mutual.

I am an American Expat in Ho Chi Minh City, (Saigon) Vietnam. (I dislike the word Expatriate). I have lived in Vietnam for 3 years, I am almost considered an expert at living abroad. As I live, work and travel in Vietnam and south east Asia, I want to take you around with me to show you what I saw in Vietnam, in South East Asia and talk with you about my experiences living in Saigon HCMC and take you with me as I travel vlog around Vietnam and South East Asia in 2022. I am not a backpacker but I started by wanting to backpack through South East Asia. I was going to just visit of vacation, but I was going to take part in tourism activities. I was going to be a globetrotting tourist but I never really planed to document mytravels. Was going to be a long holiday trip, maybe I would become a digital nomad. But I knew Vietnam would be my home when I got here, now Saigon is my home, where I work and live, but I still plan to motor bike across Asia, motovlog Vietnam, moto vlog South East Asia, dare I motorbike into China? And also fly around South East Asia, to tour and travel, But for now, this is my Vietnam life, my HCMC Saigon life, my expat life. I always thought living abroad would be scary, but it's interesting and fulfilling. The food is amazing, the culture is fascinating and the people are friendly and welcoming. If you ever wanted to take the leap to travel and live abroad, Tourism in Vietnam is buzzing right now since Vietnam reopens. I am often asked: are Vietnam borders open? Yes indeed, tourism reopened in 2022. Want to know what I saw in Vietnam and my life in HCMC Saigon. What I think about Vietnam and traveling and living abroad? What to do in Vietnam? How do live in Asia? What to do in Saigon? How to work, or work as a teacher in Asia? How to get a visa or what a digital nomads life could be like in Asia or Vietnam? What is it like to be an Expat in Vietnam and South East Asia? I am an expat, a Saigon Vlogger, a HCMC vlogger, a moto vlogger, a lifestyle vlogger, a digital nomad resource, a Saigon nightlife vlogger, an immigrant, a migrant worker. I make vlogma videos, (wth is vlogma) I want a daily vlog, but ain't got the time. But I can do a video diary, which makes me an online creator. Why anyone would watch vloggers as bad as me, I don't know. Sometimes I make food vlogs, foodporn? Did you know yum in Vietnams mean horn.., well, neverminded. I hope you will feel encouraged by my channel. I will show you a lot of things like how to live abroad, how to be a digital nomad, how to work in Asia, how to experience Vietnam, how to make friends and build a life in Asia, how to enjoy the culture and food. How to be a gamer in Asia. How to live a life in Asia, like a normal person. How to be a happy person. I am not a Vietnam digital nomad in HCMC. But I know a few. Did you actually read all that? Tell me in the comments that you did and I will give you shoutout in my next video. Some keywords I like to include are:

Vietnam Day Scenes 2018 - Saigon Vlog

Vietnam Day Scenes 2018 - Saigon in the Daytime - Vlog 275

Leaving Gia Vien hotel, checking out a Bui Vien alley & Ha My 3 hotel review

* Bkk112 Patreon is currently unavailable - SJW problems

* Latest Post on the Bkk112 website:

A Vlog from a day spent in Saigon, Vietnam. I was hungover on this day so not much happened apart from checking out a Bui Vien alley and changing hotels from Gia Vien to Ha My 3...

Parts of this video include:
0:04 1pm at Gia Vien hotel, full video review here:
1:07 Huong Vy 24 hr bar/restaurant, good place for meeting fellow travellers
1:51 Oasis swimming pool/restaurant, connected to the Beautiful Saigon boutique hotel. Popular hotel with rooms from $40+
2:40 Nonla Guys Mexican fusion cuisine, very highly ranked on tripadvisor
3:18 Chi's Cafe, another popular place to eat
4:30 Thumbnail part
5:40 Vinasun taxi ride to Ha My 3 hotel...
6:12 Crazy Viet roads, the blue bus ran a red light?
6:30 Passing Ben Thanh market
9:27 Map of the taxi journey, I didn't feel like walking 1km in the midday sun with my bags
9:36 Ha My 3 hotel video review (more info below)
14:55 Circle K convenience store run, no beer as I was hungover :)
16:38 Outro

Additional notes:

This video was from a Visa run to Vietnam, where I stayed in the capital city of Saigon for a few days.

Ha My 3 hotel (NB: this hotel might have changed its name to Ha My hotel as of Oct 2018)

The Good:

- Great central location, next to Ben Thanh market and walkable to Bui Vien street
- Cheap rooms, standard rooms start from $22 which is excellent value for the area
- Clean and spacious
- No problems getting a girl back, I took a date back with no issues

The Bad:

- Very dated decor & room, could put some people off
- No safe in the room, could be a deal breaker for some
- No coffee/tea facilities despite there being a kettle
- Noise issues from the street noise

The Ugly:

- Windows were perhaps the squeakiest ever on a Bkk112 hotel review video and there was a birds nest in the aircon unit! :)

Overall:

I had a good stay at Ha My 3 hotel but it did feel like a step down when changing from Gia Vien. I recommend this place to seasoned budget travellers only as it was a bit rough around the edges as you can see from the video...

Thank you for watching, and subscribe for more videos.

NB: Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City are the same city, the name was changed after the 70s. The locals all call it Saigon so that's what I call it here.

$17 HOTEL! VIETNAM Ho Chi Minh City. ????????

$17 USD Hotel Room in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), my first hotel room in Vietnam after I arrived from Melbourne.
I learned of this hotel after Mark Wiens recommended it on his blog 'Migrationology'. so thought I would give it a try.
It is within walking distance to several Saigon major attractions and is in a local Vietnamese area, not the touristy District 1, although it borders District 1 so you can easily explore that area too, which you will want to.
I enjoyed my stay at LeBlanc Hotel and would stay there again. The young management team are great and very helpful with advice on local street food, money changing and which tours are worth it and which ones are not.
