$3 Seven Cheese Pizza: Indian Street Food Ahmedabad 2

$3 Seven Cheese Pizza India ????????

■ INDIA, AHMEDABAD: After finishing only half of my Veg Manchurian which turned out to be just a simple rice dish I still had lots of space left to try the Indian street pizza stall right next to it. So how do they make pizza in India without a pizza oven? Human ingenuity always finds a way....

Foreigners NOT Welcome: Indian Street Food Ahmedabad

■ INDIA, AHMEDABAD: You have to try Gujarati food people have been tellin me ever since I touched down in Ahmedabad. So I thought I would do just that by going to the famous Manekchok Streetfood market which opens at night. What I wasn't anticipating though was that my first dish there would be Punjabi. After a little trouble ordering due to my non-existant Hindi language skills I finally was served a delicious Veg Manchurian.

$0.30 Razor Shave - Indian Street Barber Ahmedabad

■ INDIA, AHMEDABAD: After my street hair-cut I need a street beard trim if not outright clean shave. Luckily in India's 5th biggest city by population street barbers are everywhere. And best of all, they seem to charge a uniform 20 rupees for a shave. So once again I sat down on the streets of Ahmedabad not really knowing what to expect. . . .

I had dinner in Ahmedabad's Hollywood Slum ????????

■ INDIA, AHMEDABAD: After breaching the Hollywood Colony's defenses using a policy or relentless attrition, it was time to bond with the locals. And what better way to bond than over dinner?

Indian food as I've relayed in countless videos is damn tasty but also much more hygienic than its reputation. When this Indian family offered me to eat with them I was therefore overjoyed at the chance of partaking in this experience. So what dish did they cook? And what does an Indian family dinner even look like?

Harald Invades Ahmedabad Slum ????????

■ INDIA, AHMEDABAD: With the collapse of the 1st Indian front, fresh thinking was needed. I decided to venture down a completely new alley. To my great surprise the Daru man and all the hangers on immediately ceased to shadow me. Maybe they were not welcome in that street. Either way with now that I was finally alone I felt my chances of seeing the inside of an Indian home in this neighborhood were vastly inmproved.

$1 Mexican Tacos Vietnam ????????

■ SAIGON, VIETNAM: The variety of food on offer in the bustling streets of Saigon, Vietnam's biggest city, is second to none. Everything is on offer in all price ranges. Still one of the last things I expected to encounter on my Saigon street food hunt was an American making Mexican food in Vietnam! THIS I had to try.... so how was the tacos and what did they cost? And do people in the streets of Saigon recognize me? This and more in today's episode.

I was an Italian Master Chef ????????

■ ITALY, FLORENCE: The most challenging meal I've indulged in thus far in Florence, wasn't the 1.6 kg T-bone steak but Lisa's Lampredotto. It's not that the sandwich wasn't good. It really was quite tasty!

It was more about having the knowledge of what I was eating and somehow muster the willpower to keep munching down on it despite my better judgement.

Having seen my Lampredotto video, Martina, Florence's greatest tour guide, challenged me to sample some even more exotic ancient meals of Florence. So down to the 130 year old street food market known locally as Mercato di San Lorenzo I went.

Objective: devour the most daring meals the city has got to offer. But first I was lured into taking the job as an Italian street food master chef! My first order, Panino con l'arrosto (whatever that is).

Luxury Nepal 2: Nepalese Dinner ????????

■ NEPAL, DHULIKHEL: As the sun set on this ultra luxurious resort on the outskirts of Kathmandu I started getting hungry. But there was only one problem. I didn't feel like sitting in the restaurant as I was still dead tired and not in the mood to leave the comfort of my luxurious executive suite.

Enter room service to the rescue. Turns out there was no need to journey down to the restaurant as they'd bring everything to your room. The menu consisted of two set option. A locally sourced Nepalese 3 course dinner or some Western cuisine. I opted for the former as I had yet to truly investigate the Nepalese kitchen.

Praying that it'd taste like Indian food I sat down and waited....

I Went Drinking in Mumbai's Worst Slum ????????

■ MUMBAI, INDIA: Dharavi, India's biggest slum, isn't exactly known for being a place where you can mingle with the locals over a couple of cold ones. But I'm not one to shy away from a challenge. I therefore took it upon myself to find a watering hole in Mumbai's roughest neighborhood so I could meet some local residents and hear their stories. Did I succeed or was this one Indian adventure even beyond the scope of this intrepid Northman? Find out in this episode where I go exploring and meeting the people of Dharavi.

???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

After I spent much of February of 2018 exploring the beautiful country of India and experiencing its gorgeous sites and incredible food, I knew I had to go back and see more. Ten months later in November, I got to do just that and spent nearly three weeks enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of seven new Indian cities with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey.

Follow Anirban on Instagram:

Day three in Kolkata continued as our new friend Anirban took us around the city to try an assortment of outstanding Indian dishes. Come join us as we continue to eat our way through Kolkata!

We started off with a dish called a Kathi Roll (55 rupees), which is a burrito-like dish that consists of a fried, eggy paratha that is wrapped around kebabs (other fillings are also available). The kind I got contained mutton, onion, and chilies. The paratha was crispy, with egg throughout and super tender mutton. It was out of this world, and was like a large, Indian egg roll!

Next, we set out to try some of Kolkata’s famous sweets at K.C. Das, a sweet shop that has been open since 1866! Our first dish was a decadent pastry that was very sugary and cheesy and reminded me of a Cuban pastelito. After that was another that contained cottage cheese and chocolate. It was unbelievable! We followed that with jamun, a delicious, creamy and doughy ball that’s drenched in a sugary syrup. Next, we had Rossogolla, one of the shop’s signature sweets, which is a spongy, cottage cheese ball soaked in syrup, followed by sweet curd, which had the consistency of flan and had a hard top layer that was kind of like crème brûlée, except it wasn’t caramelized.

Our next stop was Prinsep Ghat, a beautiful ghat that was built by the British Raj along the banks of the Hooghly River. It contains 36 pillars and a Palladian porch and has a very British feel to it. From there, we took a short walk to the Hooghly River, where we also saw the First and Second Hooghly Bridges.

Our final visit was to Arsalan Restaurant, where we started off with fish kebabs, which contained lots of spices but weren’t spicy. They were so good that they had my mouth watering!

Next was an outstanding mutton kebab that was smoky, tender, spicy, and buttery and had tons of different complimentary flavors. It was easily the best kebab I’ve ever had in my life!

The next dish we went with was Arsalan’s signature chicken and cheese kebab, which was bursting with intense flavors from the coal and spices it was cooked with. It blew my mind!

Then, we went with the famous Kolkata Biryani, which I was told is very different from other types of biryani. It contained mutton, potatoes, two different rices, and a boiled egg. It was mild, but incredibly flavorful. The goat meat was so juicy and tender that it rivaled the goat I had in Greece, and the biryani itself was right up there with the ones I had in Hyderabad! And with a bill that only came to 1445 rupees, or $20.31, our meal at Arsalan was a delicious and inexpensive way to end our food tour!

I hope you enjoyed our epic food and attractions tour in Kolkata! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel and click the notification bell so you don’t miss any of my upcoming food and travel content!

I ate Bangkok Scorpion for Dinner ????????

■ THAILAND, BANGKOK: Bugs are highly rich in protein. But there's a catch. They look somewhat unappetizing. They're also quite weird to chew down on. But can our aversion to putting these creepy crawlies in our mouth be over come by seasoning, spices and a crowd cheering you on?

I went to find out in Bangkok's famous Ratchada Rot Fai market where I tried every bug, incest and Scorpion on the menu. But did I manage to keep it all down..... ?

■ ITALY, FLORENCE: Tuscany's capital is world famous for its Bistecca Alla Fiorentina. A type of beef that isn't necessarily slayed locally but instead derived from a special breed of bull and prepared in a specific manner which dates back to the middle ages. Traditionally they are served extremely rare!

As a huge connoisseur of beef, this was naturally something I had to try and film for you guys. I therefore started sampling various restaurants across Florence over two weeks ago in search of the finest T-bone cut in he city.

In all honesty I've yet to run into a bad steak anywhere in this city. But there is one restaurant I keep coming back to that offers the best value in terms of price and quality: Trattoria Dall'Oste. Hence why I choose this restaurant to showcase Florence's greatest dish.

So did I defeat the mighty 1.6kg T-bone steak put in front of me? And were I able to walk afterwards?

I took a stranger shopping in Nepal ????????

■ NEPAL, KATHMANDU: After checking in to the world's greatest five dollar hotel room, my new friend from the reception wanted to take me to the market. Given the state of the hotel room, I could only imagine the state of the local market. So this was something I had to see with my own eyes.

My new friend didn't speak a word of English but he is one of the most jovial characters I've met in a while. He was therefore mighty excited when it finally sunk in that I wasn't shopping for myself at this bargain Nepalese market but for him....

Indian Food BUFFET at the Revolving Restaurant + Adalaj Stepwell UNESCO | Ahmedabad, India

???? SAM:
???? WATCH: Meghalaya Thali
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

Even though I have now spent a total of six weeks exploring India over two trips, I’ve still barely scratched the surface when it comes to the diverse foods, cultures, languages, and historical sites that make this country one of the most incredible travel destinations on Earth. In November of 2018, I got to explore seven amazing Indian cities with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey, and we had the time of our lives!

Follow Rutu on Instagram:

With our first day in Ahmedabad underway, Sam, our new friend Rutu, and I continued our Gujarati adventures with a stop at an incredible local UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by lunch at an amazing Indian food buffet! Come along with us as we continue our exploration of Ahmedabad!

We started off at the Adalaj Stepwell, a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site that is located just outside of Ahmedabad in the village of Adalaj. Ornately and intricately carved out of sandstone, the stepwell was built in 1498 by Queen Rudadevi to honor her husband, Rana Veer Singh of the Vaghela Dynasty, and to collect rainwater. It’s considered a stellar example of Indian architecture, and I can certainly understand why! We explored down below before going up top to take some photos and get some amazing views. It’s one of my favorite attractions I’ve ever visited in India! It’s truly a spectacular sight to behold.

On our way to our next destination, we rode through the down of Adalaj and saw lots of mud-and-brick homes and dairy businesses. Eventually, we arrived at Neelkanth Patang Revolving Restaurant, and it was a good thing, because I couldn’t wait to eat more Indian food!

The restaurant’s buffet (900 rupees per person, or $12-$13 U.S.) contained a variety of Indian dishes from different states and regions. We started off with a cool and refreshing watermelon juice before loading up our plates. On my first trip up to the buffet counter, I grabbed a flatbread called papad; a chickpea dish called channa chatpata; miniature pancakes with tomatoes, green peppers, red peppers, onions, and coriander; coconut chutney; a thick sambhar; idli; a potato fritter called Batata Vada; a chickpea dish called chole bhature; a dish that looked like palak paneer; Rajasthani pitod ki sabzi; and paneer padam.

I started with the cauliflower chili starter at our table, which was crispy and extremely tasty; a minty paneer dish; and a veggie patty with mint chutney.

The Palak Paneer contained carrots and spinach and was delicious, and I tried one of the other paneer dishes with some ghee naan, which was fantastic. The idli, which is made from steamed rice batter, was nice and spongy, while the chole bhature was rich in flavor and full of spices! The mini pancake was incredible with the coconut chutney, and the batata vada was lightly deep-fried and still pretty soft. I went back to the naan for more of the paneer, followed by the crispy papad. I could see and feel the restaurant rotate as I ate!

By the time I finished my plate, I was pretty full, but our table had revolved around to the dessert area, so I grabbed one sweet and crispy jalebi and a spongy and syrupy rasgulla, which are my two favorite sweets I’d tried previously. I took a bite of each before combining them, which made for an intense and sugary combination! We then finished off our meal with a buttermilk drink called chaas, which is traditionally had after meals in Gujarat. It was sour, almost like curd.

What an incredible afternoon! I hope you enjoyed our Adalaj Stepwell visit and our mouthwatering Indian food buffet lunch! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Indian Food BUFFET at the Revolving Restaurant + Adalaj Stepwell UNESCO | Ahmedabad, India

YouTube Play-button Giveaway ????????

■ UPDATE: Both items sold! Thanks to all who participated. But just coz they're no longer for sale doesn't mean this story is over. This homeless man's name is Lucca and he's quite talkative. Especially if you know Italian. So if you're a local Florentine or a curious tourist why not swing by to see him and give him a helping hand whether it's an item or thing you no longer need that he can sell on his table or a meal. I'm sure he'll appreciate it!

■ ITALY, FLORENCE: Now for the usual video description. I always love to meet people eeking out a living on their own independent of major corporations. It's not easy being an entrepreneur in Europe but the homeless Italian guy I meet a week ago whilst out doing a monologue on self-employment proves that grasroots capitalism is still alive and well, even in a heavily over-regulated nation like Italy.

I therefore decided to help this awesome self-employed man out with a couple of items to sell which will hopefully net him a nice chunk of change.

Good luck and happy hunting to those of you who try to buy it.

Nighttime INDIAN STREET FOOD Tour of Shobhabazar and Shyambazar | Kolkata, India

November of 2018 was an amazing month for me, as I spent most of it exploring the sights, sounds, and tastes of India for the second time in less than a year. After my 18-day adventure through seven different cities, I’ve found myself even more enthralled with this country’s culture, languages, people, and of course, its food. This place is absolutely magical. And I’m so glad I got to explore it all with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey.

Our third day in Kolkata continued with an out-of-this-world nighttime street food tour of the city’s Shobhabazar and Shyambazar neighorhoods, led by my new friend Avik from A Chef’s Tour.

Check out the tour here:

Come and join the three of us as we sample even more incredible Indian food in Kolkata!

My Film Making Kit ►

Our adventure began at the New Market, where I met lots of friendly vendors along the tight, bustling lanes. Avik took us to a small stall where we received blessings to ensure that the forces were on our side for our food tour. This country is so spiritual and I love it!

We officially kicked off our food tour in Shyambazar, and right away, we started with a pomegranate lassi, a fruity version of the popular, yogurt-based drink at a spot that has been around for 50 years and 4 generations. It wasn’t as thick as a regular lassi and was like a refreshing cross between a lassi and a juice.

Our first food was mutton, or baby goat, which I had with a paratha and onions. The mutton had been cooking in its own juices for eight hours and was so tender, buttery, and flavorful. It wasn’t too spicy but had a nice tingle to it and I could taste a lot of pepper. One of the best goat dishes I’ve ever had in my life! It was finger-licking good!

Next, we stopped at Bhojohori Manna for some Bengali fine dining. There, we had a massive prawn, a fish in a mustard gravy, a coconut-based curry, and rice. The prawn was so buttery it fell apart in my mouth and the curry reminded me of a light version of the curry that comes with butter chicken. The fish was super light and I loved the skin!

After that, we made our way to Shobhabazar. On our way, I tried a chaat that was a fried mixture of peanuts, lentils, onions, coriander, and chutney. It was crunchy, spicy, and refreshing, and a fantastic palette cleanser!

Next was Puchka, or the Kolkatan name for one of my favorite Indian dishes, Pani Puri. This kind contained a soup-like sauce and a potato mash and was a flavor explosion in my mouth! I couldn’t stop eating them!

Our next stop was Allen Kitchen, which has been open for over 125 years. I dove right into their fried prawns with ghee and mustard, which was fantastic! The combination of the prawns, ghee, and mustard was delicious. It was crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and wasn’t greasy at all!

We walked through one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, which felt almost like an ancient city, to find a stand selling a light, crunchy, and airy savory puffed rice mixture that was filled with spices. It was amazing!

Next, we hopped on a bus, which was a fun and interesting experience in itself, and rode it to College Street, which is where the largest second-hand open-air book market is located. But instead of revisiting the book market, which I’d seen the day before, we finished off our tour with a fatty, sugary, and delicious Jalebi!

This food tour was outstanding! I had so many mouthwatering dishes that blew my mind. I have to give a huge thanks to Avik and A Chef’s Tour for taking us on this unforgettable food tour of Kolkata!

I hope you enjoyed our incredible nighttime Indian street food tour in Kolkata! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel and click the notification bell so you don’t miss any of my upcoming food and travel content!
