Tonight we are taking a journey on the night train operated by the Tajik railways from Dushanbe to Samarkand and onwards to Tashkent. Come along for a intresting journey where i had to deal with corrupt border guards and long inspections on this classic soviet style overnight train in the cheapest possible travel class Platzkart (3rd class) Make sure to watch this video before you take this train!

Тоннель Хатлон - красивый тоннель в Таджикистане.
Тоннель Хатлон проходит под Каратегинским хребтом, вернее под перевалом Чормагзак. Примерная высота на которой находится тоннль 1400 метров над уровнем моря. Длина тоннеля составляет 4 километра 430 метров. Находится на крайнем западе Файзабадского района.
У южного входа тоннеля расположена село Худжалони́, у северного входа находится деха́ Чормагза́к. Также в непосредственной близости с тоннелем находятся сёла Калимиhа́к и Муллоашури́.
Тоннель Хатлон связывает столицу страны — Душанбе с южной, густонаселённой Хатлонской областью Таджикистана, являясь одной из важнейших транспортных артерий государства. До строительства тоннеля, дорога из Куляба в Душанбе была длиннее и проходила через высокогорный перевал «Чормагзак».
Строительство тоннеля началось в марте 2010 года, а договоренность о строительстве была достигнута в 2007 году. Общая стоимость проекта составила 68 миллионов долларов США. Тоннель был официально сдан в эксплуатацию в ноябре 2013 года. Изначально называлась «Чормагза́к», но в марте 2014 года был переименован в «Хатлон». Строительство тоннеля являлось частью крупного проекта по реконструкции автомобильной дороги «Душанбе — Вахдат — Дангара». Средства для проекта были выделены Китайской Народной Республикой, которая выдала средства Таджикистану в качестве кредита. Что представляет из себя тоннель можно узнать из этого видео, которое особой художественной ценности не имеет, снято и выложено по просьбе моих товарищей.

The railroad system totals only 480 kilometers of track, all of it broad gauge. The system connects the main urban centers of western Tajikistan with points in neighboring Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. In 2000 a new line connected the southern cities of Qurghonteppa and Kulob. Passenger transit through Tajikistan has been hindered by periodic failures of Tajik Railways to pay transit tariffs and by safety issues.

Shared taxis from Dushanbe can be hailed on the southeast corner of the Sakhovat Bazaar and also stop at Qurgonteppa's vokzal
'Sakhovat Bazaar' – while you’re near Korvon, explore the surrounding neighborhood. Filled with lots of Soviet-style apartment blocks, it’s a much more affordable alternative to the city center for many of Dushanbe’s residents. There’s nothing to see really, but it provides a different feeling from the tree-lined streets and metal fences near Opera Ballet.
