Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. ???????????? Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Dubai has some of the coolest and most luxurious hotels in the world. Every 5 star hotel tends to have a presidential suite reserved for their VIP guests. However, Atlantis the Palm in Dubai offers a suite unlike anything I've ever seen.

THE MURAKA: Maldives Underwater Hotel Room (Inside Look)
The Muraka is the first underwater hotel room in the Maldives. Located at Conrad Rangali Island in the South Ari Atoll - Here's everything you need to know about it.
It has two levels. The first floor has two bedrooms, an outdoor deck with an infinity pool and a stunning bathroom that overlooks the ocean. The lower level is the underwater portion which is submerged 16 feet under the sea. This is where the master bedroom is, an incredible floor to ceiling bathroom and even a sitting room where you can gaze at the marine life. With a 24-hour butler, a private chef and even an on-call fitness instructor, it’s a vacation of a lifetime.

About the Muraka (Maldives underwater hotel)
1. Where the Muraka is located
The Muraka is located at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. A five-star luxury hotel that’s nestled in the South Ari Atoll. They offer award-winning overwater bungalows, beach villas, and even an underwater restaurant. Now, remember that almost every resort in the Maldives is located on its own private island. So when you fly into the international airport, you’ll either have to take a 30-minute seaplane ride or a domestic flight to a nearby island, followed by a speedboat ride to get to Conrad. You provide your flight details and they take care of getting you to the resort.
2. How the Muraka was built
The Crown Company is responsible for building this project. They’re a privately owned company that specializes in resort infrastructure development in the Maldives. They not only have built the underwater villa but they also have built the underwater restaurant at Conrad. They originally built the restaurant in 2004, which came out incredible. You’re literally dining under the sea with vibrant fish surrounding you. Fast forward and Conrad invited them back to build another underwater project. The underwater villa. But this project was going to be much more complicated than the restaurant. They built the entire structure in Singapore and then transported it to the Maldives. Once in the Maldives, they used a crane ship to lower it into the water. They previously drilled piles into the coral reef to anchor it down. As it was lowered down, they had divers guide the legs of the structure into the piles. Finally, they had to concrete the legs into place to give it a firm hold. There were many other things that went into building this but that should give you a rough idea of how it was built.
3. How much the Muraka costs per night
Given the large investment it took to create this, about 8 million dollars, it’s obviously not going to be cheap. Are you ready for this? Brace yourself.
It’ll cost you anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000 per night. Given the time you visit, the prices are going to fluctuate a bit. But I have a feeling if you can afford that price tag, a couple thousand dollars won’t break the bank.
So if you stayed here for a week, it could cost you a couple hundred thousand dollars.

The underwater suites at Atlantis The Palm in Dubai really are fit for the king of the seas. Set alongside a huge aquarium, they are pretty much the most intimate and romantic lodging you could ever dream of...as long as you don't have nightmares about sharks! This unusual hotel room costs around £5,500 a night, but if lying in bed while the marine life of the Persian Gulf drifts by your floor-to-ceiling windows appeals to you, the 'Neptune' or 'Poseidon' suite might just be worth it.
2. The Manta Resort, Pemba Island, Zanzibar, Tanzania *****
The Underwater Room is the most special of all at the very exclusive Manta Resort in Pemba Island, Zanzibar. Board a wooden boat for the swift two-minute journey to this unique accommodation, lying half in, half out of the crystal clear sea of the Manta house reef. It’s like having your own private floating island, complete with the most authentic of sea views from your submerged bedroom.
3. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Mandhoo, Ari Atoll, Maldives *****
The luxurious Hotel Conrad Maldives Rangali doesn't have an underwater room, but you can still have dinner below the waves, without having to don a diving suit. The Ithaa Undersea restaurant is located sixteen feet below sea level and while you feast on the likes of yellow fin tuna with lemon grass and sumac dipping sauce, shoals of fish, sharks and turtles swirl above your head. Set menus cost upwards of $300 per person but you can just opt for a few afternoon cocktails and still catch the sealife on your camera with the sun shining.
4. PER AQUUM Niyama, Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives *****
Nothing better than a good party after a good meal. A restaurant by day, gourmet dinner and party venue by night, the Subsix is part of the luxurious Niyama resort. Dance with the parrot fish beneath the waves or chill with a maritime themed cocktail, like the rum-based Dhoni’s Sailor, while looking into the depths of the Indian Ocean - from $14 a drink, it's a cheaper underwater alternative to the Conrad Maldives' restaurant.
5. Resorts World Sentosa - Equarius Hotel, Singapore, Singapore *****
Resort World Sentosa offers 11 two-story townhouses with bedroom views of an enormous aquarium filled with over 40,000 marine fish.
6. Radisson Blu Hotel, Berlin, Germany *****
Located underneath the world’s largest cylindrical aquarium, the Atrium Bar in the lobby of the Radisson Blu in Berlin serves drinks and small treats while offering patrons views of the AquaDom’s 264,172 gallons of water and more than 1,500 fish.
