East vs. South Africa - Where Should You Go on Safari?
Where should you go on safari? East Africa or South Africa?
Are you planning to go on safari but not sure where to go? If you don't have much experience traveling on the continent, you're likely faced with the difficult decision of choosing between eastern African and and southern Africa. Which area is better? What are the differences?
Choosing where to explore on the continent can be an overwhelming decision, which is why in today's video I'll be sharing some insights to help you get a better idea of where YOU should travel. Having travelled extensively in both regions, I've gained a strong understanding of the differences between the two regions. Let's me share my experiences and break it down!
Please note that this video is meant to give you a very generalized understanding of the two regions. By eastern Africa, I'm mainly referring to Kenya and Tanzania. By southern Africa, I'm mainly referring to the country of South Africa. These are the three most popular safari destinations and the countries I've spent the majority of my time. Many, but certainly not all, of the differences I mention between eastern and southern Africa apply to neighboring countries as well (Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana, Zimbabwe, etc.)

Masai Mara | The Safari of a LIFETIME!
The Masai Mara is a world-famous national nature reserve in Kenya, Africa, and a wildlife paradise of unmatched scale and beauty. It is best known for its safaris and exceptionally high concentration of lion, leopard, elephant, African buffalo, and cheetah, all co-existing in an incredibly beautiful area in the Rift Valley Province. Wildlife conservationists flock here every year to witness events such as the great wildebeest migration. This wilderness park was named after the Maasai people who are the area's ancestral inhabitants.

This safari travel film shows our family adventure finding multiple prides of lions with their playful lion cub babies, the Fast Five group of five Cheetahs hunting together (or Tano Bora as they are locally known) with a surprising outcome, a leopard mother and her baby joyfully reuniting after days of separation, and mysterious elephants and zebras in the early morning fog of a sunrise game drive.

The car journey from Freetown to Outamba-Kilimi National Park in Sierra Leone is a long one and a times a little challenging but seeing the kids faces as we drove through each village, then seeing the hippos as we canoed down the Little Scarcies River made it well worth every minute!

I was sick for the last two days in Lome and the first 2 days (of 3) in the village. Taking video wasn't my top priority. Luckily I was rolling more consistently throughout the rest of the trip.

Travel Documentary. Kids on Safari - Gomoti Plains Luxury Safari Camp Botswana
Situated on the edge of the Gomoti river system in the Okavango Delta is Gomoti Plains Camp. This new camp has 10 luxury tents which include 2 luxury family tents and 8 luxury double tents, all with en-suite bathroom facilities. It is part of the Machaba Camp, Classic Safaris Botswana and one of the few safari camps that allow children.

We are finally making it happen and still can't believe we are here! In this video we travel from Hawaii to Tanzania, 40 + hours of flying straight through with our 3 kids ages 8, 6, 3. They did an amazing job and made it so easy! We worldschool our kids on our travels and experience all there is to experience everyday.

Safari West Wildlife Preserve is nestled in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country Serengeti. Safari West is not a zoo, not a drive-thru park, but a wildlife preserve and tent camp. Safari West is home to African mammals and an international collection of birds. Safari West is also a breeding facility for several endangered mammals and birds and is accredited by the AZA.
