Ticino (/tɪˈtʃiːnoʊ/), sometimes Tessin (/tɛˈsiːn, tɛˈsæ̃/), officially[3] the Republic and Canton of Ticino or less formally the Canton of Ticino,[a] is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. It is composed of eight districts and its capital city is Bellinzona. It is also traditionally divided into the Sopraceneri and the Sottoceneri, respectively north and south of Monte Ceneri. Red and blue are the colours of its flag.
Ticino is the southernmost canton of Switzerland. It is one of the three large southern Alpine cantons, along with Valais and the Grisons. However, unlike all other cantons, it lies almost entirely south of the Alps, and has no natural access to the Swiss Plateau. Through the main crest of the Gotthard and adjacent mountain ranges, it borders the canton of Valais to the northwest, the canton of Uri to the north and the canton of Grisons to the northeast; the latter canton being also the only one to share some borders with Ticino at the level of the plains. The canton shares international borders with Italy as well, including a small Italian enclave.

HIDDEN Gem Swiss VILLAGE by the Lake: GANDRIA Ticino Switzerland
Could Gandria be Switzerland’s perfect hidden gem village? Quite possible! Gandria is often overlooked, which is quite sad, because in fact it is one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland. Gandria lays by lake Lugano in Ticino and charms with its unique appearance. Being built at the hill, Gandria is a hanging village, which makes it stand out from the many other beautiful Swiss villages. The village of Gandria is car-free; you may park your car a few hundred meters away from the entry or better arrive there by boat. Traveling to Gandria by boat is a very beautiful experience. As you are approaching Gandria, you will feel the excitement coming up. Having disembarked the ferry, go and explore the village. Gandria is full of narrow alleys. In contrast to Morcote, Gandria is quite a maze and you will soon realize that there are so many ways of how to explore the village. Thus, make sure to plan in at least 1 hour if not even 2 hours! A highlight of Gandria are not only the houses but also the decorated walls full of wisteria, these unique climbing plants with their purple to lilac blossoms. These you will get to see during April and May. Very beautiful is also the church of Gandria that charms with a wonderful interior. Climb the stairs to get a better view over the village and lake Lugano. From Gandria, you can see lake Lugano, and Monte San Salvatore. Unique about Gandria is also the fact that it is the last village before the boarder to Italy. If you would continue the road further you would arrive at Porlezza and further down at the Lago di Como. Gandria is perfect to combine with Lugano and a quick trip to lake Como.
There are many restaurants at where you can go for lunch at. They offer beautiful views over the lake and of course delicious dishes. A local specialty would be fish. If you have plenty of time, then take the boat from Lugano to Gandria, explore the village and then continue by ferry to Morcote, which is also one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland.

Corippo TICINO - The SMALLEST VILLAGE of Switzerland - Wonderful Verzasca Valley - [Travel Guide]
DjemoGraphic present the less known parts of the Verzasca Valley in Ticino, Switzerland. Although quite famous, the Verzasca Valley mainly attracts visitors to the Dam, where James Bond 007 Goldeneye was shot and to the serene creek at Lavertezzo. The latter part has often been described as the Maldives of Switerzland. However, unnoticed, up on the hill, stands the humble village of CORIPPO. This village remains up to this day the smallest municipality of Switzerland and only has 13 residents left. In this video, you will get to know more about this wonderful village called Corippo and learn how to appreciate the humbleness and serenity of this place.

FOROGLIO Val Bavona Ticino Switzerland – Waterfall and raw Village San Carlo near the Maggia Valley
Who in Switzerland doesn’t admire the alluring Maggia Valley? But did you from abroad know about it? And did you know that just a few kilometers further up is the Val Bavona. Overthere you can find one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland called Foroglio. The village charms with its many stone houses and the magnificent Foroglio waterfall in the background. The waterfall is very high and one of the most impressive ones of Switzerland. At the very end of the valley is San Carlo, which is a perfect place for seeking tranquility. From there you can oversee the Val Bavona and have a very relaxing time!

Sonogno UPPER VERZASCA Valley Ticino Switzerland – Beautiful Village and La Froda Waterfall
Here is Part 2 of the best things to do in the Verzasca Valley! While most of the people limit their visit to Lavertezzo, the village with the unique turquoise waters, most of them do not consider visiting the upper part of the valley. The uppermost village of the Verzasca Valley is called SONOGNO and is very much worth a visit. The village charms with its many stone houses and just nearby is the waterfall La Froda, which is a must-see when going up there!

A good friend of mine has got a holiday cottage in Monte Carasso, Ticino, Switzerland. Every year we are spending a whole weekend with friends, play Kubb ( BBQ, having drinks, chilling and finally do a canyoning tour (See my other video
I brought my brandnew Panasic Lumix GH4 with me, to test it for the first time. I used everything together with the Metabones BMCC Speedbooster and the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8. I tried different settings in different situations (e.g. at dawn lowlight) with different resolutions and speed (4k with 24fps or 1080p with 96fps). The testing resulted in a video with 2 minutes playtime.

Swissminiatur was inaugurated on 6th June 1959. It is an open-air miniature park located in Melide of Lake Lugano, in canton Tessin.
In an area of 14'000m2 visitors can admire 128 Models at scale of 1:25 which represent the most important buildings, monuments and forms of transport in Switzerland. A 3.560m long model railway with 18 different trains runs through the park.

The MOST BEAUTIFUL Swiss Village: BOSCO GURIN - Hidden Gem in Ticino Switzerland
Bosco Gurin is THE HIDDEN Gem Village of Switzerland! Far, far away from the urban centers, up on 1500 m, lays this wonderful raw Swiss village. Bosco Gurin is located in the Canton of Ticino, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Bosco Gurin can be reached by car or by bus, but it is going to take quite a while to arrive. From Bellinzona, the drive will take you at least 1h 20 minutes! Bosco Gurin charms with its many traditional houses, which have a lot of resemblance to the typically ticinese rustici. However, in Bosco Gurin, the houses consist often of wood, which is not a common thing in the valley of Ticino. This is because, Bosco Gurin was populated by the Walser people arriving from Valais. This also is the reason why Bosco Gurin forms a german-speaking language enclave within majority Italian-speaking Ticino. The local dialect “Guriner-Dütsch” is still spoken but is considered endangered. Although Bosco Gurin has everything one would admire, its isolated location in the uppermost part of the Valle di Bosco is the reason, why it is not very attractive for living there throughout the year. Nevertheless, there are many efforts being made to preserve the life in the village, although most people these days are considered bilingual. With the tourism and the fact Bosco Gurin holds the status of being one of Switzerland’s most beautiful villages, there is hope for a sustainable future. Do walk around the village, explore all the alleys, admire the many houses and plan in at least 4 hours for your visit. You may also try out the local specialties, in particular cheese and Walser Rösti.
Since Bosco Gurin is quite far away, maybe first consider staying in the Maggia valley and then later proceed up to the village and stay overnight. Waking up in Bosco Gurin I am sure, must be a romantic experience!
