And it was in search of one such polarising figure that I began a journey across this land ( by the world’s greatest train ) in the footsteps of Ceaucescu. Join me on this personal journey which I have long dreamed of making as we trace the leader’s final days in power and his ultimate demise.

Exploring The Streets Of Beautiful Bucharest, Romania! ???????? You need to visit!
After an amazing first day in Bucharest, we were so excited to have another day to explore the great city. We only came here for a weekend trip, so we didn't have the time to go visit the countryside and the wonderful castles. We do plan an another trip in the spring, with more time to go an truly explore more of Romania. We had some good recommendations from the comments of the last video. So many towns and new places added to our bucket list.
Overall, we really loved our trip to Romania. It is very unique compared to the other places we have traveled so far. If you haven't added this awesome country to your travel list, you really should! You won't be disappointed.

ROMANIA ???????? - is very UNDERRATED! (Watch This Before Visiting)
Have you ever thought of visiting Romania? Many people say it's not on their list of places to visit - but, it should be!! In this video, we share with you our Final Thoughts on Romania (covering the food, beer, transportation, and top sites) and go over the top Places to Visit. We traveled through Romania for 2 months and during that time had the opportunity to explore 8 different cities. We go through each of the cities we visited and share our final thoughts on each.
We started our journey in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Here is where we first discovered what wonderful things we had in store for us over the next two months - from the amazing food selections, numerous craft beer options, and beautiful architecture. Next, we made our way to Brasov located in the heart of Transylvania. While here we took day trips to visit both Peles Castle and Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) both wonderful day trips from this location. As we make our way through Transylvania, we discover Dracula's birthplace and his hometown of Sighisoara. Sibiu then became our home base for 2 weeks which was perfect as there was plenty to see and do here. You will find plenty to do in the old town and wonderful walking streets filled with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and bakeries. We ended our final 2 weeks in Romania with stops in Alba Iulia, Cluj, Oradea, and Timisoara. Join us on our journey and see all there is to discover in the beautiful country of Romania!

Visiting Romania's most SPECTACULAR CASTLE and hiking in Sinaia, Romania | Peles Castle
Today we are visiting one of the most iconic castles in Romania, Peles Castle!
Peles Castle is set at the bottom of the Bucegi Mountains near the picturesque town os Sinaia. It is considered by many to be one of the most stunning and spectacular castles in Europe. Since this castle served as the summer residence for the royal family the King who commissioned it spared no expense. Built in 1873, Peles Castle was constructed with electricity, an elevator, themed rooms, and even a stained glass roof. This fairy-tale like castle is definitely worth a stop on your next Romanian road trip!

Where is it?
The Athenaeum is located right in the heart of Bucharest, on Calea Victoriei, the city's main avenue. It's easily accessible and surrounded by other historical landmarks, making it a perfect stop on your Bucharest walking tour.
How To Get There?
Getting to the Athenaeum is a breeze. You can hop on the metro and get off at the Piata Romana station around 800 meters away. Alternatively, several bus lines stop nearby.

Opening Hours and Ticket Prices:
The Athenaeum is typically open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but not continuously so it's always a good idea to check the official website for any updates or special events that might affect opening hours.
The ticket price is just 10 lei, and the entrance is to the side.
What To See?
As we are already inside this architectural marvel, you can see that The Athenaeum boasts a stunning neoclassical design, with a circular dome and a grand entranceway. Upon entering, you are mesmerized by the ornate details, from the Corinthian columns to the frescoed ceilings.
The centerpiece of the Athenaeum is, of course, the concert hall. With its horseshoe-shaped design and excellent acoustics, it's considered one of the best concert halls in Europe. Here, you might have the chance to catch a performance by the prestigious George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, making your visit extra special.
Some words about its History:
The Athenaeum's story is fascinating. Built in the late 19th century, it was a symbol of national pride and a testament to Romania's growing cultural scene. It was designed by the French architect Albert Galleron and funded through a public subscription campaign, with Romanians from all walks of life contributing to its construction.
Over the years, the Athenaeum played a significant role in Romanian history, serving as a gathering place for important events and celebrations.

We haven't seen it all, but we've seen enough of this country, to come to one conclusion. It's beautiful. In this episode, we will explore Brașov, and then Bușteni; both in the breathtaking Carpathian mountains.
We finally will be meeting up with our friends Jacob and Jenny. After over a year of friendship, we are actually meeting in person; for the first time. It should be no surprise that this gorgeous country, came to the top of our lists at the exact same time.

This is Romania. And it's marvelous.
We start off in Brașov, at the Black Church. This church, originally named after Saint Mary, is the symbol of the city. It is imposing, yet impressive. Inside there is 600 years of faith, and history. In 1689, a devastating fire destroyed significant portions of the town, and also damaged the church. Flames and smoke blackened the walls. It's gigantic roofing caught fire and collapsed. It's reconstruction began immediately and lasted almost a hundred years.
