National Park of American Samoa
This year we're visiting all 59 National Parks to celebrate the NPS centennial year and share the park love! National Park of American Samoa was #24. It's the only park in the southern hemisphere, it's the farthest in our travels and it's completely unique. Since the park doesn't have camping, we utilized its unique homestay program to stay for a week in Vatia village with a family. The village was surrounded by the park on all sides and we were constantly exploring the park right behind the house with the kids. Check out our video to see how we found our park through the beautiful land, cultures and mostly people of American Samoa!

Exploring American Samoa is one of our favorite things to do as a family. Today, we're showing you what we discovered near the village of AFONO. The legendary ANAPE'APE'A SEA CAVES were a bit of a struggle to get to, but once inside, they were incredible. Just thinking of how much history these caves have seen and what may have taken places in these places conjures pictures of long ago people and traditions in our minds.

FINDING LEONE FALLS | COOLING OFF AND CLEANING UP | SE'ETAGA BEACH | AMERICAN SAMOA
LEONE FALLS is a place that not many people have heard of and even fewer have been to, yet it's one of our new favorite places on the island!
Hidden behind AMERICAN SAMOA'S rainforested mountains is a cool oasis. Come along with us as we escape the summer heat with a short (though wild) hike back to a super secluded waterfall.
Then, see one of our favorite beaches to clean up and play, after a sweaty hike, at SE'ETAGA BEACH.
As with most beaches and waterfalls in American Samoa, please show respect and always ask permission to use the land. The people of American Samoa are incredibly kind and generous and all they ask is that visitors show respect and gratitude to enjoy their piece of Paradise.

AMERICAN SAMOA: Cathedral ⛪ combines Christian beliefs with Samoan culture
American Samoa, Pacific Ocean - the cathedral of the Holy Family in Pago Pago, American Samoa. Let's visit the Cathedral of the Holy Family which is a late 20th-century church that serves as the Cathedral in Pago Pago in American Samoa, an unincorporated territory of the United States. the Cathedral of the Holy Family is located in the Ottoville district of Tafuna, the largest city in the territory in American Samoa in the Pacific Ocean.
The construction of the the Cathedral of the Holy Family began between the late 1980s and early 1990s and it opened in 1995. The Cathedral of the Holy Family is known for its art pieces, which incorporate the Samoan culture. The interior of the the Cathedral of the Holy Family is noted for its mixture of European and local Samoan features in its design. This is demonstrated in the stained glass windows and numerous pieces of art adorning the cathedral. A 1991 painting by Duffy Sheridan features the Holy Family, with a Samoan beach as the setting.
