Starting my NEW backpacking trip in Bolivia! ???????? Arriving into La Paz

A new backpacking trip has begun and I have arrived in La Paz! My plan is to travel northbound from here through Peru and Ecuador but in this vlog, I am just finding my feet in Bolivia, getting adjusted to the altitude and running errands like I always do when I arrive in a new country. I stayed in Wild Rover hostel and went on the walking tour and cocktail making class which was a lot of fun!

How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these YouTube videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. WHAT TO SEE IN LA PAZ + BOLIVIAN FOOD TOUR // BOLIVIA TRAVEL VLOG

After pushing our way through altitude sickness when we first arrived in La Paz, we finally made it out of our apartment and into the bustling administrative capital of Bolivia! A new country for us, we were so excited to see the sights and start getting to know Bolivia.

We spent the day exploring the city and trying as many local Bolivian dishes as we could, which is our preferred way of getting to know a new culture. We start our by day eating at a common chain restaurant called Wistupiku in the Sopacachi neighbourhood before making our way to San Pedro Prison, notoriously one of the most dangerous and lawless prisons in the world. From there we took mi teleferico up to El Alto to see the beautiful city views, and then headed back into the city centre to visit Mercado Lanza for lunch (which was an experience!). Then it was off to San Francisco Square where we found all sorts of art and food stalls, before finally seeing the notorious Witches Market which truly does hold many, many petrified llama fetuses.

Throughout this day of exploring we managed to try 8 Bolivian foods: humintas, pastel de queso, api, fricase, mocochinchi, a fruit salad dessert bigger than Nicole's head, helada de canela, and choripan. It was a full day of exploring and eating, but we finish the day feeling like we had experienced quite a bit of La Paz in just one day!

If you are wondering what to see in La Paz, if Bolivia is safe, or what foods to eat while you are in La Paz, then watch the video through to the end to see all the things you can get up to in just one day in the big city!

We took local transportation, ate Streetfood and visited local markets to get a real feeling for La Paz. It is one of these off the beaten path things you should do on your travels to experience a place off from the touristy things.

Moreover I was invited to do some rappel action in the middle of the center of La Paz: it is called Urban Rush and awaits you with a thrilling free fall after walking down a 50m Skyscraper - face first.

More options for things to do in La Paz?
What about biking down the death road - you can book the tours in the center e.g. with Gravity. See more about this option in another video I produced about this thrilling experience:

Exploring LA PAZ the HIGHEST CITY in the WORLD!

Exploring LA PAZ the HIGHEST CITY in the WORLD!

In this video we head out to explore the fascinating city La Paz in Bolivia. This city is not only the highest city in the world at 3625m (11,975 ft) it is also one of the most fascinating cities to explore.

The culture and traditions of the Andean people is perfectly combined along the streets with beautiful historical buildings and market stalls of the witches market selling everything from clothes and trinkets and even dead baby llamas, crazy but true! In this same city and a few steps away we found modern restaurants with food representing different countries from around the world, there is something for every type of traveller.

A huge attraction in itself is the La Paz public transport network which is in the form of the gondola’s, they’re the perfect way to travel around this city which is in a huge valley surrounded by mountains. It is the best way to reach El Alto and for the residents of El Alto to reach La Paz each day to sell their goods in the capital city. The sights from the gondolas across the city are incredible!

Bolivia Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Bolivia – Welcome to the “Rooftop of the World” where you can experience breathtaking landscapes, ancient civilizations and colorful wildlife. Check out the best things to see and do in Bolivia.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Bolivia:

A #vacation to #Bolivia, a landlocked South American country, holds the promise of discovery for adventurous souls. While pretty Sucre is Bolivia’s judicial capital, La Paz is its political capital and also its main tourist hub.

Journey high to the Mirador Laikacota for city views. Deep in the valley below #visit the central Plaza Murillo, home to the most precious buildings: the Presidential Palace, National Congress and Metropolitan Cathedral. Stay near the Plaza San Francisco for its proximity to hidden gems, such as the curious Witches’ Market, the Musical Instrument Museum and the Coca Museum.

Bolivia is a diamond in the rough; relatively undeveloped, but extremely authentic, colorful and cultural. Bolivia’s riches shine through in the country’s high altiplanos, its floating reed islands on Lake Titicaca, the silver mines of Potosi, the infinite salt flats of the Salar de Uyuni and the untamed tropical lowlands in the vast Amazon basin.

BOLIVIA: 1 DAY IN LA PAZ - TRIP & ITINERARY

THE WITCHES' MARKET || MIRADOR KILLI KILLI || CALLE JAEN || PLAZA SAN FRANCISCO

We had a long layover in La Paz, Bolivia on our way from Argentina to Colombia. We stayed one night at Hotel Rosario, and walked around this wonderful city. Love seeing the markets and the cholitas aka the indigenous women in Bolivia. They are so beautiful!

This video was shot with SONY A5000 camera and a DJI Spark drone.

La Paz Travel Vlog - RAW and SHOCKING! ????

We're in Bolivia for the first time and exploring La Paz - in all honesty it's a bit intimidating, there's some really dark stories, shocking facts and also some amazing vibes and beautiful sites... Welcome to La Paz Bolivia - it's our first time in Bolivia and we had really high hopes for La Paz. Has it lived up to the hype in La Paz? Honestly we're not sure as of right now.

To find out as much info on the city as we could, and to get around to all the best spots, we booked a walking tour which was insanely cheap! It also meant we could go up the cable car without needing to work out stops, navigating Spanish or needing to plan too much. This is the walking tour that we did: La Paz walking Tour:

Turns out Bolivia has a bit of a dark past, there's some deep spiritual connections in La Paz, safety was a little bit of a concern and we learnt some crazy facts about the city. From the Witches Markets to El Alto, around every turn was something shocking, interesting, and fascinating. For everything beautiful we got to see, there was something broken (figuratively and literally) — we kind of feel like this is the most contrasted we've ever felt about a city.

These South America travels were filmed in October 2023, an amazing time of year to visit. We spent a month exploring Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and these travel vlogs are to share our experience of the first time touching the continent... safe to say we loved it! Over that time we took 2 different tours with G Adventures and that saved our ass in more ways than one - stress free, safer, all the travel advice we needed, transport pre-arranged and an epic group of people to travel with. If you plan on travelling South America (or anywhere else in the world actually!) take a look here: Also, consider using some of our links and recommendations from the below to support the channel. LA PAZ, BOLIVIA TRAVEL VLOG 2020 | WHAT TO DO WITH ONE DAY IN LA PAZ

We arrived in La Paz, Bolivia! We have many plans while we are in Bolivia, and only 24 hours to discover what to do in La Paz, while we get accustomed to the very high altitude change. There are many things to do in La Paz and a great way to get around is to use the Mi Teleferico cable system!

We also decided to take a short trip south of the city to Valle de La Luna, La Paz or Moon Valley in English. I highly recommend taking a taxi out here to discover the vast geological landscape that Bolivia & La Paz have to offer.

La Paz, Bolivia: Unveiling the Mystique of the World's Highest Capital | Indian Travel Couple

La Paz was our first destination in Bolivia and it raised our interest to explore the rest of the country.

In this video, we explore La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia. The city, at more than ~3,600m/ 12,000 feet altitude, situated in the Altiplano region of Bolivia, is a cultural melting pot.

As we navigate the markets and streets of La Paz Centro, we learn about the mix of indigenous and Spanish culture and the interesting rituals. The Witches' Market and the Churches indicate the co-existence of cultural unity over centuries.

The colorful streets of Centro, Linares Street also known as Umbrella Street, the historically important Jaen Street with the nicely-preserved colonial architecture and museums, the local market, street food, and meals at Mercado Lanza allowed us to experience La Paz culture, history and food.

We explored the Cable Cars or the Teleferico, the aerial public transport system that takes you to the faraway corners of La Paz and El Alto with amazing views of the city below and the snow-capped mountains surrounding the city.

We got an aerial view of the largest market in Bolivia, Mercado 16 de Julio, and various cholets in El Alto. We explored El Alto on foot as well, seeing the cholets with their interesting designs that stand out among the red-brick houses.

Stay tuned for more travel videos from our Bolivia series.
