Can you believe that you have to pay to use public toilets, and to drink water in Europe?! What is the deal with cigarettes being fashionable? And guys are wearing short shorts?

It's about time someone addresses the cultural differences between the USA and Europe!

After just finishing a 6-week Eurotrip -- I've now spent more than 1 year of my life in Europe, and visited every single country on the continent (yes, all 45 countries!)

While many things are similar between American and European culture, there are plenty of little (and BIG) differences that I'd like to bring to your attention in this video!

It took me 6 weeks of compiling this footage, writing this script, and editing this video... so I hope you like it! And if you enjoy, please share with your friends :)

The Journey Is Over ????????

This journey that started for me aged 17 in Anna’s Russian class has now come to an end. I have been officially banned from Russia for a period of three years. What great memories were created. From the villages of the Komi republic to the mountains of Dagestan, to the Siberian forests and Baikal, we have experienced so many adventures. I'll always remember the amazing Russian people I met with great fondness but it's time to to bring the curtain down.

Glory to the USSR!

7 Days in the Most Dangerous Country in the World ????????

Afghanistan is not a country that is easily broken. No matter what death or destruction has happened in this country, life perseveres, and it's a testament to the spirit of the Afghan people. The narratives of good and evil don't always neatly fit over any country, let alone one as complex as Afghanistan.
But it’s the resilience and the warmth of the people that have left the deepest impression.
This journey has reminded me that Afghanistan is more than just headlines; it's a land of contradictions, rich history, and incredible people. It's a place where hope survives, and life goes on, no matter the odds. This country is safe to travel to if you follow the rules and have the correct guides.

Afghanistan has been plagued by decades of conflict, including the Soviet invasion in the 1980s, civil war in the 1990s, and the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. The presence of various armed groups, including the Taliban and other insurgent factions, has led to ongoing violence and instability. Join me as I visit what is considered as the most dangerous country in the world and explore the rich history, diverse culture, and breathtaking landscapes. I'll go beyond the headlines to showcase the true beauty and resilience of the Afghan people. Featuring @BlackmanDaTraveller and @Abzventure.

2011_ACADEMY_ASSEMBLY_OLMSTED_SCHOLAR_PANEL_1Mb.wmv

This is a panel discussion at the U.S. Air Force Academy that took place on 19 October 2011 as a part of the 53rd Academy Assembly, an annual foreign affairs conference hosted there. Six Olmsted Scholars took turns answering questions on power and influence in our respective countries/regions. I was the final scholar to speak, and the question I answered was on potential issues or areas that could lead to conflict in East Asia. A brief question and answer period ended the session.

Chickpea Tofu and Pickled Tea Leaves: Myanmar's Unreal Cuisine, and Why It's So Hard to Find

Burmese food is something totally unique- a flavor profile shaped by an ancient history with roots connecting the empire to powerful culinary neighbors like China, India, and Siam, but with indigenous techniques and ingredients that make this cuisine all its own.

Somehow, in twelve years cooking and eating in Asia, it never occurred to me how strange it was that I didn't know anything about Burmese food. I never questioned why Thai, Vietnamese, and Malaysian food could be found anywhere, but the largest geographic country in mainland Southeast Asia- a place with a 4000-year history and an outsized influence on the continent- was invisible. But then I tried my first Burmese meal, and all of a sudden, a million questions needed answering.

This video is an attempt to answer- maybe not all of those questions, but at least...say...two or three? What are some of the iconic dishes in Myanmar? How did Burmese food take shape? And why have I never encountered it before?

We're diving into the Bangkok Burmese refugee diaspora to get as deep as we can into Thailand's hidden Myanmar subculture in a culinary adventure on OTR.

Travelling back to my PG in Mumbai after the lockdown

-

Hi loves,

How are you guys doing? I am really curious to know.

I came back to Mumbai a month ago. It was only somewhat difficult to convince my parents to let me travel. But they said yes and I thought, I should record this trip.

I am very happy with how the video turned out. I think my quality has gotten better and I even had the chance to use my favourite Bollywood song 'Safar' sung by Pritam and Arijit Singh.

The video starts with the track Busy in Beige by Dot. – a very delightful piece of music recommended to me by someone on Instagram who said I reminded them of Dot. herself.

And then, there is Nikes On. Sung by Healy, it is an indie-pop track that personifies time and how most often, it is hard for us to keep up: Why time got his Nikes on? / Runnin' so fast you gon' kill someone.

Let me know if you like the music or the video. Share if it's both? I'll see you in the next one.

Stay safe, Take care.

CHINA: One of the SAFEST COUNTRIES on EARTH | A JAYOE CONVERSATION

Conversation #1
OK… so I have been asked a number of times what my view of politics in America is. I normally do not want to get into this subject, just because I know so many people have radical views one way or another, and I don’t want to offend anyone. That being said, I have had some interesting experiences that have given me a unique perspective on world politics, and some of you might find them interesting.

I am sorry if I offend. If there is one thing I try to be, it’s honest. But I am no genius, and not in any way a politician. So take my opinion with a grain of salt. A grain of salt that has spent time in North Korea, lived in China for the most part for 6 years, and travelled extensively around the world.

Also note that I am a White... Male... American. If I was not any one of these.... my story might be different.

In this video I talk about the differences between USA and China, the politics of Donald Trump, Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and their perception by people outside of USA. And I talk about how safe my time has been while I have been in China.

So here you go. I would love to hear your opinions, so please comment below and I will try to answer as much as I can. Subscribe to hear more about my life in China and abroad, and if you like this format, let me know another topic you might like me to discuss.

Also, if you like this discussion, and would like to hear more from me regarding any topic, let me know and ill record another one of these. For now... we will call it a first try.

Racism: Black in AMERICA vs. Black in KOREA

Here we go! A discussion about racism in America versus Korea. Being black in Korea and black in America has some similarities, but also differences. In this video I detail my viewpoint and experiences on racism in my home country, America, and my other home country of 5 years, Korea.

I know this is a LONG video, so below is a timestamped link for each of the main points I make in this video.

Racism similarities between Korea and America:
1) White men are superior -
2) Negative racial stereotypes persist -
3) Racism feed colorism towards Eurocentric preferences -
4) Differential treatment -

Racism differences between Korea and America:
5) Fear due to racism and prejudice -
