Tashkent sights (Uzbekistan, Central Asia).

More information here:
Tashkent, as it befits the capital of Uzbekistan, is grand and diverse.
Tashkent sights are various. Most of the historical and architectural monuments of the city are located in its Old Town area where evident history stays in harmony with modernity. The city's Oriental bazaars, just like centuries ago, attract visitors with the abundance of juicy fruit and vegetables, delightful aroma of hot flat loaves of bread and samsa pasties... The Oriental bazaar is notable for making anyone visiting it never go back without a purchase.
There are always a lot of cultural events taking place in Tashkent. The city has a large number of theatres, museums, restaurants, nightclubs, and hotels. In hot summers you can easily find a cooling place at a fountain, a shelter in one of the many parks or... in Tashkent metro, which is acknowledged one of the most beautiful in the world.
It will take longer than just a day to see all Tashkent sights, so this short film will help you, taking you on an excursion around the city.

Central Asia: Uzbekistan / Tashkent & Samarkand (July 2019)

Now catching up on some trips from 2019!

For centuries, the Silk Road was the world's most important trading route, and Uzbekistan was at its centre ... Many of the major sights of the Silk Road can be found in Uzbekistan, which served as the crossroads for traders and travellers plying the routes between the Far East and Europe, Persia and North Africa.

Many travellers may still under estimate how beautiful Uzbekistan is. Even though my trip back in 2019 was very brief - I still had a chance to visit Tashkent and country's most popular city - Samarkand. Tashkent – Uzbekistan’s capital – was completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1966, while the country was under Soviet rule. Consequently, you’ll find a charming mix of restored 12th-century mosques and classical Russian architecture alongside blocky socialist buildings and statues of workers with bulging biceps. If you get a chance, stay at Hotel Uzbekistan – which towers over the city’s main park and experience some faded Soviet glory up close. Also when visiting Uzbekistan for a short time, make sure you visit Samarkand and see its beautiful mosques and the Registan - centre of the Silk Road.

For me one of the highlights was meeting Uzbeks- I came across a few interesting people on this trip, who despite not speaking English were very hospitable and welcoming and made great effort to help me to find my way. Of course, my mix of Russian and Polish helped me a lot. But if you plan your trip to Uzbekistan, go there for longer, there is so much more to see.

Apologies for some 'shaking' - couldn't be fixed!

Discover the Unexplored: 10 Breathtaking Sites in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is a treasure chest that you can sort through endlessly. It is rich in both natural and man-made sights will surprise you with both historical buildings and cultural traditions. Of course, most of the tourists begin their acquaintance with Uzbekistan from Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, where the tourist infrastructure is especially well developed. However, there are hundreds of natural and architectural beauties in Uzbekistan that do not often get into tourist ratings, although they deserve no less attention. In today's release, we decided to tell you about 10 mysterious and incredible places in Uzbekistan, visiting which you will be delighted. Get inspired and pack your bags!

1. Our list starts from the Urungach Jade Lakes, which are located 160 km from Tashkent, in the Ugam-Chatkal National Park. There are only 2 lakes - upper and lower. The upper lake was historically formed as a result of a rock collapse, which served as a natural dam. The lower lake is distinguished by ideal water purity due to the fact that water from the upper lake enters it underground, passing through a natural sand and gravel filter. They are named jade because of the color of the water in them: it is green, which is characteristic of jade.
