Join us on safari in Africa! It's every traveler's dream, isn't it? In this video we visit Tanzania and look for the Big Five. With a safari jeep and a guide, we spot all the animals of Africa. We are also there during the 'Great Migration', when thousands of animals move from Kenya to Tanzania. Which safari parks are the most beautiful? The Serengeti is certainly the most famous, but it is also Tanzania's most touristic destination. In this episode you see the natural phenomenon Ngorongoro. The volcanic crater is home to 25,000 animals, including the Big Five. In this series about Africa we also visited the elephant paradise in Tarangire and afterwards you will see us at the famous Lake Manyara. Are you going on an adventure?
Before Africa you saw us in Asia and after the tropical island of Zanzibar we crossed over to the mainland to go on safari. So we go by jeep past all the animals and the most beautiful nature. Be sure to watch until the end for a preview of the upcoming episodes: we will rent a 4x4 camper ourselves to drive through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We also visit Mauritius and Reunion by plane!
We make our journey through Africa during a world trip of one and a half year. We may even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines . Zanzibar and Tanzania are already destination number 21 on the big trip. We have also been away from home for a year. Tanzania is a beautiful destination and here are a few things that you should know.
1. Visa : visa for Tanzania is on arrival and it will cost you 50 dollars.
2. You don’t need a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are traveling from India.
3. Safaris are expensive but totally worth it. We paid 50k per person just for the Safari.
4. In 12 days we covered Dar Es Salaam, Arusha, Safari and Zanzibar.
5. You can book your safari online on reach there and book.
6. Food - African book is mix of Swahili, Arabic and Indian food. It’s heavy on non veg but will you find veg options as well.
6. Africa as a continent is expensive for tourists and value for money spent might not be very high but this experience will be surely unique and worth it.

How to prepare your trip to Tanzania? This is your travelguide for Tanzania. Tanzania is an amazing country. You can hop between having the greatest safari of your life in the Serengeti national park and jumping into crystal clear water on Zanzibar. We absolutely enjoyed the trip and we will summarize all you need to know, if you are planning your trip to Tanzania. In this video we will answer how to apply for the visa in Tanzania. What you need to know about the yellow fever vacccination and malaria prophylaxis.
This was our travel route:
1 day Arusha
4 days safari (Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngoronggoro)
1 day Arusha
10 days Zanzibar
How to prepare your visa for Tanzania:
First, you can apply for an e-visa or get a visa on arrival. Either way, you pay round about 50 US Dollars for the visa. When you apply for your visa online, you need to do it early enough. We got our visa granted in 4 days. So you need to apply for the visa at least 10 days before leaving. Friends of us did not get the visa on time. You can apply for your e-visa (online visa) here:
In the case you don't want to apply for the e-visa, you can also apply for the visa on arrival.
Here you find a list, which countries need a visa:
Yellow fever vaccination:
You don't need a yellow fever vaccination for Tanzania, because it is not a high risk area. However, they will not ask you when you enter Tanzania mainland or Zanzibar from your home country. But it can happen that they control your vaccination certificate when you enter Zanzibar after visiting Tanzania mainland first. This does not make sense at all, but it is a formal vaccine and it could happen they ask you for your certificate. So better be prepared. Our tip is: visit Zanzibar first and then go to Tanzania - this way around you won't have any problems. The other way around, you maybe need to be prepared by getting vaccinated before you go on your trip.
Malaria Prophylaxis:
Tanzania mainland is a high risk area for malaria. Especially when you go on a safari. The doctors told us to take malaria pills. We started to take them before leaving Germany and stopped taking them on Zanzibar.
Corona regulations for entering Tanzania:
At the moment (march 2022) you still need a negative PCR-test to enter Tanzania. Of course, this can change again. Right now, you also need to fill out a health form 24 hours before leaving.

I traveled to Tanzania on this tour with Face of Africa Adventures and saw all these parks in this video in January of 2019 which is a good time. But When is the best time of the year for an African Safari, anyways?
We stayed at the FANAKA Safari Campsite and Lodge, right near Manyara National Park for 2 nights, in a bungalow. It was clean, comfortable and far superior to camping!
We stayed at the Kisura Serengeti Tented Camp in the Seronera region of Serengeti National Park for 2 nights. It was luxurious, and comfortable. They even had running hot water inside our tent and a flush toilet! Great food too! Excellent service by Maasai tribal staff. This tented safari camp was a highlight with a laughing hyena and other animals right outside our tent in the middle of the Serengeti Plains!
We also stayed for one night at the Rhino Lodge near Ngorongoro Crater. The food was probably the best here, and the bed was very very comfortable. There were elephants and African Buffalos in the yard, very very close.
The night before and after our safari, we stayed in the Green Mountain Hotel in Arusha which was very good too.
Face of Africa Adventures did a perfect job of hosting us in the best accommodations, and with excellent game drives every day. We would highly recommend getting a quote from them before you make any decisions on a safari. They seemingly take less profit and provide you with a better Tanzania safari experience than many, and we spoke to at least 20 companies before we settled on Face of Africa Adventures, based on price and quality.
