Facebook Timeline Screencast
Facebook recently introduced a radical change to how the social media channel looks. In this special screencast, we show you around the new layout and how you'll be able to get more involved with Hotels4u.com
Transcript:
Hey guys, this is Adam from Hotels4u.com and I'm here to help you navigate around the new Facebook timeline feature which has been rolled out worldwide. There's been a fair about of hate towards the design and I admit that I wasn't exactly fond first time around, but it's pretty cool & fun once you've had a play around and I think you'll like it too!
Perhaps the biggest change was to the area where we all chat to each other about Hotel related stuff. Getting in touch is still nice and easy, just type whatever you want... 'Hi, can I go out to play with Harry?' and push enter! You'll see though that we have this sort of zig-zag layout rather than the column style of old. Nothing scary about this, just a new way at reading and pretty convenient for checking out older posts...
Now speaking of old... don't tell anyone, but I'm a huge geek. I could quite happily sit in front of the TV with endless episodes of Dr Who. Imagine how awesome it would be to travel back in time... well, now you can with Facebook Timeline! Whether you're keen to check out our milestones, read some of our older posts or even if you just want a nosey, you can now do all this by clicking on the year & month in the top right hand corner and BOOM! You've just earned a PHD in time travel.
You may remember we ran a survey during our Over2U week where we asked all of our fans to get in touch and let us know what you wanted to see on our pages. One of the highlights was more regular competitions on Facebook and we thought this was a great idea! Watch out as we will be running more prize draws more often! As the number of prize draws increases, so does the chances of you winning so make sure you keep an eye on our page for details.
Something else you told us in our Over2u survey was that you want more information about the destinations you can book into with us. Watch out for the 'Resort of the week' which I'll be sharing with you every Monday. It's a great opportunity for you to find out about holiday destinations you might not have considered before!
Another new feature coming to our Facebook pages is something we've called 'Favourite Travel Stories'. You'll start to see blog posts, videos or info on travel/holiday related topics which we want to share with you from other travel influencers but of course, you're more than welcome to suggest your own too!
So what else can we do with Timeline? The main focus though is on visual images and well; we've got billions of wonderful photos from a huge selection of hotels worldwide.
If you have a trip coming up, why not take our travel mascot Harry Hotel with you? Simply press on the 'Where's Harry?' tab and press print! Harry loves holidays, so grab plenty of photos as you both take in the delights of your chosen destination! When you come home, don't forget to submit your pictures to us and we'll add them to our 'Where's Harry, There's Harry' photo album.
Then of course, you can still do the usual like chat with other fans, visit Twitter, visit our YouTube page and tell me how much of a good job I'm doing... Did I just say the last one out loud?
