Snorkeling Grand Cayman Rum Point

This video is taken with GoPro 3+. We were staying at 7-mile beach and decided to drive to Rum Point to snorkel for the day. We stopped along the way to see the blue iguanas. We first snorkeled along starfish point to see the giant starfish. After this we stopped at a beach at Rum point and asked if we could swim to the barrier reef. We were given a buoy with a flag that we swam with so that boats could see us. The current made swimming a bit more difficult. We swam about a half a mile in total, almost to the barrier reef and back. I also brought some squid to feed the fish and this made them swarm around us. We saw two eagle rays, some barracuda, a spiny lobster, lots of conch snails, and tons of colorful reef fish. The reef seemed very healthy. After snorkeling at many other spots in Grand Cayman Rum point was probably the best spot.

Rum Point, Spotts beach Grand Cayman Snorkel Aug 2022
August 2022 we were sent back to Grand Cayman for work. The day we landed, we checked into our hotel, changed clothes, grabbed towels, our snorkel gear, and set off to Rum Point. We also hit up Spotts beach hoping to se some sea turtles.
On our last day of work, we worked half day, and then hit up Sea Fire Reef which os off of Seven Mile beach. That video will be next, so ring the bell and get notified when that video drops!
We are being sent back in October and hope to hit up a few more places.

Visiting Rum Point in Grand Cayman with some snorkeling. We loved this area in Grand Cayman. It was very kid friendly and the food was pretty good too. There wasn’t a lot of coral to see snorkeling but it was still an interesting spot with tons of barracudas and little stingrays. Video taken in May 2019.

Gordon and I snorkeled right off the dock at The Rum Point Club in Cayman Islands. We were lucky enough to see a Sea Turtle and Tarpon. There were coral heads scattered through out the area with tons of reef fish. I hope you enjoy watching this compilation of videos as much as we did creating them.

We went on a snorkeling excursion with Silver Thatch off of Rum Point in the Cayman Island. It was a great day on the water.

Here's Part 2 of our vacation in Grand Cayman. We hike the Mastic Trail and run into a snake, snorkel on Barefoot Beach and clean up some plastic, visit Starfish Point and take an evening snorkel at Rum Point. It was a fun packed day! We hope you enjoy.
Grand Cayman Rum Point
This footage, taken in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands was given to me by a guest on one of the charters I worked.
That was in 2018, and I have only just done something with it now. You can tell it is a Sunday as local boats are gathered in the shallows at Rum Point.
You can see the barrier reef, rum point, starfish point and the bioluminescence bay in the video.

Shot this video in December of 2019. This is a long, really slow video. I just wanted to try and capture the abundance of sea corals, sponges, sea fans and different fish. It was amazing. Hope you enjoy it.

Starfish Point Snorkeling | Grand Cayman
Northeast of Georgetown and north of Boddentown near Rum Point, the snorkeling at Starfish Point is popular for its namesake marine life. While this spot used to be a secret, the word is out and it is quite crazy here during the weekdays. Especially distrubing are the numerous waverunner tour groups which coming into shore very fast without watching for snorkelers. It’s kind of sad what has happened here to the formerly peaceful destination in light of the overcrowding. While snorkeling at Starfish Point, you may encounter camo starfish, bright red starfish, yellow starfish, stingrays and upsidedown jellyfish resting on the sandy bottom. In addition to the upsidedown jellyfish resting in the sand, there are small sea thimble jellyfish floating near the water surface, which can be harder to see.
