I was lucky enough to capture this video of evening prayers being held at the
Buddhist monastery, a very famous place for tourists. Their prayers are so peaceful and energizing that one feels like listening to it through the entire evening or morning. The sacred place is indeed magical!

In 1975, the present 12th Kenting Tai Situpa's disciples from Derge and Nangchen region who settled in Bir, Himachal Pardesh Northern India, donated a protected pine forested land located in the foothills of the Himalayas. Here he started to establish Palpung Sherabling, which later became his seat in India. The building was designed by Kenting Tai Situpa, and is built of modern materials and finished in traditional Tibetan architectural fashion. The concept of the design follows the ancient science of geomancy. Palpung Sherabling cultivates and preserves the artistic lineage of the Palpung tradition. The monastery, only a few miles from the nearest town, retains its calmness and isolation.
It has 250 monks' quarters, (which accommodate over 500 monks) three shrine halls, six shrine rooms, and all of the traditional and modern monastic features. Palpung Sherabling also has retreat houses for monks and nuns and individual cabins for lay practitioners.
The 12th Kenting Tai Situpa is progressively developing Palpung Sherabling according to his ideal: from an ordinary point of view, to build a seat for a great master; from a more profound level to establish a place to display and maintain the culture and lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and a place to educate the masters of the next generation; from the foremost and most profound level, to transform this pure land into the Wisdom Deities' Mandala.
The main prayer hall of the monastery has a stunning two-storey golden Maitreya statue. Built across a sprawling 3 acres of land, the Sherabling monastery is situated within the Bhatu forest in the foothills of the Himalayan ranges. The path leading to the monastery is full of pine trees on either side and the colorful prayer flags welcome everyone all through the way.
The monastery is pretty huge and its complex includes beautiful Buddhist temples, gompas, and stupas. Inside the monastery, the sound of Buddhist monks reciting their prayers creates a spiritual aura. If you are spiritually inclined, make sure you visit this monastery on priority amongst other places to visit in Bir Billing.

Timing: The main hall is open from 8.30 AM - 4.30 PM on all days. The monastery is open until 6.00 PM and is closed after that.

The worshiper women at the monastery were looking very holy. In background see the Monument built over the cremation place of Chief Master of Monastery. A tree appeared after some year on this place at the crown of Monument and can be seen in this video clip. this tree is considered a holy one which is believed as an image or blessing of Grand Master. The tree neither gets dry nor grows more than its present size.

Palpung Sherabling Monastery Situated in the foothills of Kangra Valley is Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat in Upper Bhattu region. A quiet walk through the pine forest with colourful Buddhist prayer flags on the sides of the road takes you to the gompa. The monastery has shrine halls, a monastic college, a school, a library, a museum, an exhibition hall and a dispensary, and all these are nestled deep inside the pine forest. It’s like a different world altogether in the middle of serene nature where cheerful kids, youth and old seem to be celebrating life. There is a small canteen behind the main prayer hall where you can have noodles, thukpa, tea etc. Be there during sunset to enjoy an amazing view, when the golden rays engulf the entire forest, fields and villages.
