Scrumptious INDIAN STREET FOOD Tour + SARNATH, The BIRTHPLACE of BUDDHISM | Varanasi, India

???? WATCH: Indian Food with 100,000 People
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

During my last day in Varanasi we went on an all out Scrumptious Indian Street Food tour trying all of Varanasi's famous dishes.

We started the day by visiting one of the ghats for sunrise. It was extremely peaceful and spiritual experience, a must when in Varanasi.

Our first stop on our Indian Food Tour was Malai. This is like a creamy milk, yogurt, whipping cream. It's sweet and delicious!

Stop number 2 was Puri Kachori, potatoes, tomato and a few more vegetable dish. You use a bread to eat it and it is a breakfast dish. We also had Jalebi a fried dough which is dipped in condensed sugar. To refresh our pallet we tried some Paan!

We took a quick food break and headed to Sarnath, the birthplace of Buddhism. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dhamma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.

We headed back to Varanasi to end our Indian Street Food tour. We stopped at Deena Chat shop to try four dishes, Golgappas, Aloo Tikki, Tomato Chaat and Chura Matar. They were all so good, but my favorite was Chura Matar!

I hope you loved this Indian Street Food tour of Varanasi, and side trip to Sarnath! If you liked the video please give me a thumbs up, comment below and subscribe to my channel!

Banaras STREET FOOD Tour | BEST Street Food of India | India Food Tour

We started our journey with a beautiful boat ride and even managed to celebrate a birthday on board. These magical boat rides are part and parcel of a trip to Banaras. So if you find yourself on a holiday in Varanasi, just take a boat ride early morning and relax your senses.

We then went for a super delicious breakfast at Laxmi Chai Wala in he Chowk Area. This shop is around 80 years old is known for it's eye opening Chai and Breads. They serve Malai Toast, which a thick slice of bread that is toasted topped with a hefty layer of cream and sugar; we even tried the famous Cesarean Bread, popularly known as kambhal odha ke, which is a thick slice of bread toasted over coal that is slit in the middle and stuffed with a lot of butter. The moment you bite into this toast the butter just oozes out. These amazing breads are served with a kulhad chai, which is just the kind of tea you need in the morning.

We then tried Chhoti Kachori. It's a comparatively smaller Kachori than the ones we get in other parts of India, and is stuffed with spicy potatoes. This lovely little kachori is served with a topping of chana and green chutney. The flavour combination is absolutely scrumptious.

Later we went to Ram Bhandar for some Kachori- Sabji and Jalebi. The kachori here is more like Poori, which is served with Sabji of potatoes, chana and brinjal. Another type of Kachori served here is Chhoti Kachori stuffed with potatoes and topped with chana. You can taste the ghee in this one, which is what makes it so rich. We then packed few a jalebis and walked our way to a dahi wala. In Banaras, jalebis are traditionally enjoyed with some Dahi. The super sweet and hot jalebi goes perfect with the cold slightly sour flavour of dahi.

Us Dilliwalas are suckers for milk based sweets so how could we miss Shree Jee Sweets and Milk. We tried Mallaiyo, also known as Daulat ki Chaat here in Delhi. Here the sugar, saffron and cardamom is mixed with milk foam beforehand and served with a topping of pistachios. They even give Saffron Flavoured milk, which is just the right amount of sweetness. This shop has been serving its customers mallaiyo for 150 years, making it one of the oldest and probably the original mallaiyo shop in Banaras.

When in Banaras, Eat Paan. We had to visit a paan shop and we hit the jackpot when we discovered a 218 year old paan shop. This shop has been serving paan to generations of the same families, in fact the people running the shop have been running it for almost 4 generations now.

Banarasis love their sweets, so we had to visit one the ildest and most popular sweet shop in Banaras that is Shree Shree Ram Bhandar. We tried Magdal which is made with urad dal and has a very complicated and time consuming method of cooking it. They have been serving the Tiranga Barfi here, ever since India gained its independence in 1947. The speciality of this barfi is that the three different coloured layers of this barfi also have a different flavour, so you get three barfis in one.

Finally, we went to another iconic Lassi shop- The Blue Lassi Shop. We tried the Blueberry lassi which was also topped with cream and pistachios like any other lassi, but the flavour was to die for. The blueberry makes it supremely unique and delicious. One should definitely visit the Blue Lassi Shop for an amazing lassi experience.

Sarnath Temple Varanasi | STREET FOOD | Ganga River | TRAVEL VLOG

Hola everyone,

So following the Shivratri Ultramarathon, I was very tired and the very next day I had a visit organised with Roobaroo walks to visit SARNATH TEMPLE.

Sarnath is located 10 kms from the city of Varanasi.
Sarnath is also known as Isipatana and is one of the four places of pilgrimage which are visited by the followers of Lord Buddha.

I was late in catching up with Aayush and others. But we started of by knowing the importance of this Buddhist site along with the National Ashoka Pillar. We then moved from the Sarnath Museum to having Lunch at Deen Chat Bhandar , we tried various delicacies as Palak Chaat, Tamatar Chaat among others.
We had Gol Gappas - Must try , had some Sweet 'Lal Pedas' also a must try.

Then we visited old ancient house , the flower market and the Masjid along the Ghat.

The day ended with a boat ride and Ganga Aarti.

It was thrilling , exciting and fun filled day.

Please do visit Banaras.

Love,
Paco

Trying MINTY SWEET PAAN + Temple Hopping in INDIA'S HOLIEST CITY | Varanasi, India

During my trip to India, I made it my mission to experience Varanasi to the fullest! Varanasi is India's holiest city, it is also known as the city of temples and they are famous for their minty sweet paan!

MY FILM MAKING KIT ►

As soon as I arrived in Varanasi my Airbnb host Himanshu took me to his place to drop off the bags and then we hopped on his scooter and started exploring Varanasi.

Our first stop was New Vishawatha Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is the all mighty god in the Hindu religion. It has the highest temple tower in the world. Our next stop is Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, unfortunately we could not film inside.

We made a quick stop at Keshave Paan shop, Varanasi's most famous Paan shop. Paan is basically a leaf that is filmed with mints, then wrapped in silver. This one is just to refresh your pallet after eating. You eat it, chew it and spit it out!

We then headed to one of the most important temples in Varanasi, Durga Mandir Temple. Lord Durga is famous for being the god that destroys evil!

Our last stop of the day was the Ganges river. We hopped on a boat at the Assi Ghat which is at the beginning of the 84 ghats that make up India's holiest city. We took at 3 and half hour boat ride along all the ghats and ended at the Ganges Aarti ceremony.

I hope you enjoyed all these beautiful places to visit in Varanasi! The Paan, temples and Ganges river were incredible! If you like this video please give this a thumbs up, leave a comment below and subscribe to my channel!

NEVER ENDING Indian STREET FOOD Night Tour of the PINK CITY | Jaipur, India

During my visit to Jaipur, aka the Pink City I went on a never ending Indian street food tour with my friend Atray from Hungry Walks and in association with Delhi Food Walks to try all the amazing Indian street food in Jaipur!

We started our never-ending Indian street food tour with some Chai at Sahu Chai Wala. They have a different type of Chai because they make it on coal and it simmers for a long time.

Next up is Aloo Tikki a deep fried potato patty with chick pea curry and Papdi Chaat a fried wafer snack. They were both delicious!!

To change things up we went and got a quick dessert called Mishri Mawa which is rice pudding with cardamon. A great way to change up the taste!

We then hit up a place to try some mouth fresheners. I tried like 7 things, but everything had spices so be-aware of that!

A must visit is Achar Shop which is a 180 year old pickle shop that has some of the tastiest pickles in the world! The best was the mango flavored pickle, wow so good!

Next is Kachori, a fried pastry with yogurt and chutney! A very tasty dish!

We had to hit up another pastry shop and we dried Laddu, which is basically a glazed doughnut. It was extremely sweet!

Then on to the main course to try some Rajasthani food! We tried Gatte Ki Sabzi, Daal, Aloo Pyaz Sabzi and Bejad Ki Roti. The combination was really delicious! The taste of the Gatte Ki Sabzi was the winner for me!

We then went on to try three things, Kadhai Ka Doodh which is milk that simmers for hours. Thandi which is like a Indian slushy with berries and nuts and Paan.

Out of everything we tried my favorite was the Rajasthani food! It was top notch!!

Here is the list of all the dishes:
-Chai
-Aloo Tikki
-Papdi Chaat
-Mishri Mawa
-Mouth Fresheners
-Achar Shop
-Kachori
-Laddu
-Gatte Ki Sabzi
-Daal
-Aloo Pyaz Sabzi
-Bejad Ki Roti
-Kadhai Ka Doodh
-Thandi
-Paan

Unseen TRIBAL FOOD in India! Cooking & Eating with Isolated MOUNTAIN TRIBE | Pandikuzhi, India

???? EBBIN:
???? WOODNOTE THEKKADY:
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

On my fifth day in Kerala, India, I did something really special that I will never forget. I had the rare opportunity to head into the mountains in Thekkady, meet a local tribe that lives in the mountain forests there, and cook and eat an amazing tribal meal with them! Come along with me as I cook and eat authentic tribal food with an isolated mountain tribe in Pandikuzhi, India!

My afternoon started in the mountains of Thekkady, Kerala, India, overlooking the plains of the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. I couldn’t wait to cook and eat with the Mannan tribe! I had never done anything like this before!

We had to climb up to the tribe through a rugged and rocky environment. We met up with them. They already had a fire going and lots of pots and pans ready. They started by peeling shallots. They also had chilies, tomatoes, big onions, and fish from Thekkady Lake ready to be cooked, as well as chicken and two tapioca preparations.

They were also cooking some spinach. I watched as they washed, spiced and prepared the fish, chicken, and vegetables. They cooked the fish right on the burning fire in the ground. I learned that the tribespeople were speaking a dialect that is a mix of Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil.

Then, they added a mix of tomato, ginger, garlic, jeera, and pepper to a pot of water over a fire. They took the fish off the fire and began peeling the tapioca. While we watched, I tried some of the fish. It contained some spines, so I had to be careful. The turmeric and salt, mixed with the charcoal flavor, were amazing! It was crispy and really nice!

The tribespeople we were with were a family. They were a mother, daughter, aunt, and brother. I helped cut open a package of ragi and watched as they washed the cassava. Meanwhile, the tomato, ginger, garlic, jeera, and pepper mix was forming a gravy. They added ragi and curry leaves to it. Then, they put a halved, unpeeled raw tapioca directly into the fire.

The daughter was working on the chicken, which she added onions, ginger, chilies, and tomatoes to. They cut them into small pieces. This type of cooking was so unique because they used no oil. Everything they use is locally sourced from the forest.

Meanwhile, they took the tapioca off the fire and scraped off the burned parts and added the ragi to a pot of boiling water. The daughter stirred for a bit and then I tried it. The ragi was served on large bay leaves along with the spinach, cassava, chicken, and fish, and finally, some of the chicken curry. It looked phenomenal and so healthy.

I went for the ragi with the curry first, which was almost like a thick potato mash. The chicken was super hot but not too spicy. Then, I went for some of the spinach, which was super fresh and mixed with onions. Then, I mixed the spinach, ragi, and curry. I loved it. It had a ton of flavor even though they didn’t use many spices.

The ragi was really filling. Then, I dug into the tapioca. It was really earthy. Then, I tried the fish, which was full of barbecue taste. Everything was light except the ragi. I loved the spinach and that the ragi sticks to your fingers!

Once you’re done, you clean your hands with water. At the same time, you rinse your plate.

You have to have this tribal food experience with a mountain tribe when you come to Thekkady, India. It takes two hours and is one of the most authentic experiences you’ll have in this part of the world.

I hope you liked coming with me to cook and eat authentic tribal food with the Mannan tribe in Kerala, India!

EXTREME Indian STREET FOOD Tour of VV Puram FOOD STREET | Bengaluru, India

???? SAM:
???? WATCH: Meghalaya Thali
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

My trip to India in November of 2018 was one for the books. After falling in love with India earlier in the year in January and February, I finally made my way back for a life-changing journey through the country that I will never forget. And I did it all with my buddy Sam from Sam & Audrey.

Follow Abshishek:

My first day in Bengaluru was coming to a close, but just because the sun was going down doesn’t mean I was done scouring the city for more epic food experiences! Come along with me, Sam, and our boy Abhishek as we head out on an amazing nighttime street food tour of VV Puram Food Street in Bengaluru!

VV Puram Food Street is an extremely popular street in Bengaluru that is lined with food stalls as far as the eye can see. I had heard a lot about the food in this city for months before I came and I knew my taste buds were in for a treat!

First up, we had a huge idli called Thatte Idli, which is easily two or three times the size of a regular idli. It was served with coconut chutney and tomato chutney. It was soft and fluffy like always, and the chutneys were a little spicy, but that’s what I like! The bland flavor of the idli was the perfect counterbalance to the extremely flavorful chutneys.

As we traveled through the dense crowd, we spotted some people sharing some nitrogen biscuits, which I’d had during my first trip to India. But this time, I was here for the floating pani puri, which is pani puri that is served in a plate filled with jaljeera water. It was absolutely incredible. It was a little spicy, and one of the best pani puris I’ve ever had in my life! And yes, of course I drank the jaljeera water!

Then Sam tried a chili shot, one of the ingredients in the pani puri. It’s very strong on its own!

Next, we had some sugarcane juice that was infused with ginger. Even with the ginger, it was surprisingly refreshing and helped to cool our mouths down after the spicy pani puri.

After my mouth had cooled off, I was ready to heat it up again, this time with one of the most extreme foods you’ll find in India, Fire Paan! In this wild version of regular paan, the ingredients inside are lit on fire and shoved into your mouth by the vendor. It looks insane, but it’s actually totally safe! It was crunchy, minty, smoky, and absolutely delicious! There was also some dried fruit inside. The energy boost you get from it hits you hard and fast, and I was wired almost immediately afterward!

Our next culinary adventure was fried cauliflower with a delicious red sauce from a friendly stranger who let us try their food! The sauce was tomato-based and wasn’t spicy at all. We followed that up with potato twisters, which is a spiralized potato that’s skewered on a stick and then friend until it’s extremely crunchy. The tanginess from the piri piri on it was fantastic!

Next, we tried the nitrogen wafer, a crunchy, freezing cold snack that makes you look like you’re breathing steam when it interacts with the body heat from your mouth! We followed that up with the Dragon Breath, a nitrogen ice cream that does the same thing! We spent a while playing around with the nitrogen treats with some fellow food seekers and just had a good time with them!

Our next treat was roasted chilli corn, which is corn on the cob that is roasted and filled with chilies, ghee, and lime juice. While you can’t see any chilies in it, don’t be fooled. It has a kick that sneaks up on you!

Next, we had a piping hot sweet roti, which was very doughy. The saccharine flavor of the added jaggery made is super sweet, but delicious! But at that point, I was stuffed!

I hope you enjoyed this extreme nighttime food tour of VV Puram Food Street! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up, leave me a comment below, and please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

India Trip - Day 9 - Sarnath & Travel - Where Buddha shared enlightenment

Aloha and Namaste.

***THIS WAS RECORDED IN NOVEMBER 2019. Please do not travel right now. Be safe! Much love and aloha. ????????***

At the start of this video, I discuss a tumble I had. I did fall walking out of the busy Varanasi streets and hit my face on the ground. Luckily no actual damage was done. :)

We go to Sarnath. There are 4 special places to visit if you want to see the life of the Buddha. This is #3.

1. Where Buddha was born.
2. Where Buddha reached enlightenment.
3. Where Buddha shared enlightenment by teaching the Dharma.
4. Where Buddha Reached Salvation.

After this, we head to the airport to catch our flight to New Delhi. We then have a long car ride to Agra. It was a long evening and we will share more about this night in a Story video to come at the end of the series.

I have been trying to update the cc. So if you are having a hard time hearing us or understanding us, please turn on the cc.

I know these videos are long but we had too many experiences that I really wanted to share and be able to come back to watch in the future. India has been on the very top of my travel list for a long time now. The trip was 2 years in the planning. This was mine and Amanda's first time on an International Trip. And All of our first trips without our significant others. We joked that we were the perfect team. One Dreamer (Me) One Doctor (Amanda) and One Bodyguard (Sarah). It really worked out perfectly.

I get a little emotional every time I talk about this trip. It was a dream trip. The best way to bond with my girls and learn about myself. We met some really amazing people and had adventures of a lifetime. I hope you are enjoying this travel series.

Please leave your comments and questions below.

Much mahalo and dhanyavaad!

SWEET & SAVORY Indian STREET FOOD Tour of Charminar | Hyderabad, India

In November of 2018, I embarked upon the most epic trip of my career: a 21-day, 7-city trip to India with my good friend Sam. It was the second time that year that I visited the country. The first was in January, and it changed my life. For months I dreamed of going back and experiencing more of this incredible country, and I finally made it happen! After a whirlwind 36 hours in Pune, we made our way to Hyderabad and went crazy, filming, eating, and experiencing as much as we possibly could!

Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:

Our second day in Hyderabad continued with a visit to the city’s Old Town, which includes the famous monument and mosque known as Charminar, and of course, more local eateries! Come along with us as we explore the Old Town of Hyderabad!

My Film Making Kit ►

Sam and I started off with a stop at Nimrah Café and Bakery, a popular spot that is famous for its tea and biscuits. We watched the bakers make the biscuits in the kitchen, and then tried a massive tray filled with 25 different types, including Osmania, coconut with cherry, and chocolate-cashew. The coconut with cherry was rich and sweet and packed with shredded coconut. The chocolate-cashew was flaky and crumbly and just plain phenomenal, and I also had an awesome sugar sandwich cookie with cream and lemon, and that’s coming from someone who isn’t a big biscuit fan!

Next, we tried Nimrah’s famous Irani Chai, which was milky, frothy, and bursting with amazing flavors including ginger and cinnamon. The biscuits were even better when I dipped them into the chai.

Our next destination was Charminar (which translates to “four minarets,” after the monument’s four ornate towers, which are supported by four grand arches), a monument and mosque that was built in 1591 and is listed as an archaeological and architectural treasure by the Archaeological Survey of India. It cost us 300 rupees, over ten times the rate for locals, to get into Charminar, but after we slowly ascended the narrow, winding staircase and emerged onto a balcony overlooking the city, it was worth it. From there, we had a spectacular view of much of the city, including the gates that served as the entrance to the Old City. The architecture was gorgeous!

After a quick selfie with a fan at Charminar, it was off to Milan Juice Centre for some juices and fruit salad so we could cool down from the 95-degree heat! I had a drink called a Mango Malai, which is a super fatty smoothie made from heated whole milk and yogurt. It was very rich, but also very good and just what I needed to cool off!

Our next stop was Al-Akbar Fast Food Corner, where we tried boneless Chicken 65 and ginger chicken along with some parathas. The chicken 65 was kind of like masala chicken nuggets. It was chewy with a slightly crunchy exterior, and I absolutely loved the masala flavor! The ginger chicken was bursting with ginger flavor, had an orange-ginger sauce on it. It was hot, super tender, and absolutely delicious, and the paratha was out of this world when I dipped it into the spicy orange-ginger sauce!

Our final stop of the afternoon was Matwale Doodh Ghar, where we got some lassi, a creamy, traditional Indian yogurt drink, which was the perfect way to cool down my mouth after that spicy chicken and from the heat outside! On our way there, Sam and I got a complete sensory overload as we strolled down the streets of Old Hyderabad in the shadow of Charminar. There are tons of vendors everywhere, the city is so busy, and there’s always tons of things going on around you.

My lassi was super thick and creamy, almost like a chunky yogurt with a bit of raspberry. It was so refreshing and exactly what I needed after a long afternoon under the hot Indian sun!

AUTHENTIC Kolkatan INDIAN Street Food Tour in White Town | Kolkata, India

After my first trip to India in February of 2018, I learned why this country is among the top tourist destinations in the world. There are so many wonders to experience there, from its long, ancient history to the beautiful culture to the mind-blowing food. And the people are so warm and friendly. I’m glad I got to go back just ten months later and explore more of the country with my friend Sam from Samuel & Audrey!

Our second day in Kolkata continued with Navpreet from Fun On Streets, who took us on an amazing street food and attractions tour of the White Town area of Kolkata! Come along with us as we continue to eat our way through the city!

My Film Making Kit ►

We started at Paramount Cold Drinks & Syrup, a historic shop that was established so people could get seasonal drinks. We tried their famous coconut-based drink, daab sarbat, which was very naturally sweet and incredibly refreshing. The recipe is a 100-year-old secret!

As we explored the area, we came across protesters who want to see the return of the Communist Party, which ruled West Bengal for forty years until roughly ten years ago when the government changed and became more stable.

We made our way to the White Town, which is where the colonial area rulers used to stay. Here we saw a lot of the remnants of the British Empire, including the demarcation line that marks where an old British fort once stood, Lal Dighi Square, B.B.D. Bagh, and lots of colonial buildings.

In the central district, we grabbed some fresh sugarcane juice to cool down before starting our street food tour with some Dim Pauruti (50 rupees), a bread that is soaked in egg, grilled, and served with a basic chickpea curry that also contains onions, green chilies, and a squirt of lime. The bread is sweet and toasted perfectly, while the savory, spicy curry has a nice crunch. It was amazing!

Next was Kolkata-style Chinese Noodles (10 rupees), which was very filling and contained lots of chilies, unlike regular Chinese noodles. It also contained a red sauce, onions, and other vegetables, and had sweet and sour flavors, but it wasn’t spicy. I loved it!

Next, we had a puffed rice dish with tomatoes, onions, potatoes, green chilies, and gram called Jhaal Muri (10 rupees), which was crunchy and had a little moistness from the tomato. It’s a healthy snack that has a spice that snuck up on me later!

Our next dish was Malai Toast (35 rupees for 2 pieces), which is toast topped with a fresh cream that has been removed from boiled milk and sugar. The bread was crunchy and the sugar made it a little sweet and it was fantastic! It was exactly what I needed to get me through the rest of the food tour!

Our final dish was Dal Chilla (40 rupees), which is a lentil pancake made from moong dal batter, salt, and green chilies. It’s topped with onions, tomatoes, and coriander and served with a mint chutney and a garlic chutney. I tried it with the spicy mint chutney first, and the Dal Chilla was like an explosion of heat in my mouth, which I really liked, but the garlic chutney tasted like straight garlic and was too much for me!

We wrapped up our tour with some chai from the chai master, who put on a show for us by cooling the chai by pouring it six feet from container to container. The chai was nice and frothy with a delicious cardamom flavor. It was almost like hot chocolate and was so good I needed another one!

I had so much fun on this street tour! I had never tried any of these dishes before and I love trying new foods. If you’re ever in Kolkata and want to go on an amazing food tour, look up Navpreet! She’ll hook you up!

I hope you liked our street food and attractions tour of the White Town in Kolkata! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel and click the notification bell so you don’t miss any of my upcoming food and travel content!
