Salzburg Austria Ultimate Guide (Sightseeing,What to do,What to see)

The town is on the site of the Roman settlement of Iuvavum. Salzburg was founded as an episcopal see in 696 and became a seat of the archbishop in 798. Its main sources of income were salt extraction, trade, and gold mining. The fortress of Hohensalzburg, one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe, dates from the 11th century. In the 17th century, Salzburg became a center of the Counter-Reformation, with monasteries and numerous Baroque churches built.
Salzburg's historic center (Altstadt) is renowned for its Baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved city centers north of the Alps. The historic center was enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The city has three universities and a large population of students. Tourists also visit Salzburg to tour the historic center and the scenic Alpine surroundings.

Maria plain salzburg/st mary,s catholic church/salzburg and surroundings/salzburg austria

Plainbergweg 38, 5101 Bergheim bei Salzburg, Österreich

The story of Maria Plain goes back to the times of the Thirty Years War. In 1652, the purportedly miraculous painting Mary with Baby Jesus by Rudolf von Grimming came to the Plainberg outside Salzburg, where it was kept in a wooden chapel. After barely a year, the original painting had to be returned. However, because of the constant influx of pilgrims, a copy of the picture was made and housed in a new chapel. In 1671, Archbishop Max Gandolf decided to construct a large pilgrimage church. Built according to the plans drawn up by Giovanni Antonio Dario, the church was consecrated on 12 August 1674. Two years later, they were also successful in bringing the original painting back to Salzburg.

Architecture and Interior
The three-story façade with two towers was modeled after Salzburg Cathedral, even though it is very much in keeping with the character of a pilgrimage church you might encounter out in the country. The church of Maria Plain on the Plainberg is visible from far away. The church’s interior is filled with a golden aura, underscored by tones of blue and white. Maria Plain’s famous painting is the focal point of the high altar it

SALZBURG AUSTRIA | Full City Guide with all Highlights

???????? Salzburg is perhaps the most beautiful town in Austria and in the Summer in Austria travel vlog I go on a travel walking tour to explore the best things to do in Salzburg on a day trip. If you plan to go to Europe this year, Salzburg Austria may also be one of the best travel ideas for Europe and your next summer trip to Europe. This Salzburg Austria 4K Ultra HD video vlog explores this historic city in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria and gives some inspiration of what to see in Salzburg, from the Mozart birth place to the stunning Salzburg castle Hohensalzberg. Your Europe travel in 2021 would surely be incomplete without a stopover for the best summer in Austria. So if you are wondering where to go in Austria and which are the best places in Austria, make sure to put Salzburg on top of your list of Europe travel ideas for 2021. Go to Austria in 2021 and it will be the best summer trip you can imagine.

Salzburg is maybe Austria’s most famous city after Vienna. In this Austria travel video I’m going on a travel walking tour through this magical and romantic city which serves as the perfect gateway to the Alps. Along the way I will give you some hopefully useful ideas on what to see in Salzburg. Make sure you watch to the end where I will provide some additional tips and answers to questions you may have.

Salzburg is the fourth largest city in Austria and is located about 150 km (93 mi) South-East from Munich and 300 km (186 mi) west of Vienna. Salzburg's historic center (German: Altstadt) is known for its Baroque architecture and is one of the best-preserved city centers north of the Alps. It has a whopping 27 churches and is dominated by the massive Hohensalzburg Fortress. Salzburg is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tourists and travelers usually come to Salzburg to tour the historic centre and the scenic Alpine surroundings. So when you come to Salzburg, make sure you also check out the amazing little alpine towns and villages in close proximity, such as Hallstatt, Bad Ischl, St Gilgen, St. Wolfgang, Gosau and Zell am See.

What is Salzburg known for and why is it a favorite with tourists? Well, Salzburg is of course known as the birthplace of the 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Because of its history, culture, and attractions, Salzburg has been labeled Austria's most inspiring city”.

Geographically, Salzburg sits on the banks of the River Salzach, at the northern boundary of the Alps. The mountains to Salzburg's south contrast with the rolling plains and hills to the north. The closest alpine peak, the closer to 2000‑meter-high Untersberg, is less than 16 kilometres (10 miles) from the city center. This area is flanked by two smaller hills, the Mönchsberg and Kapuzinerberg. Interestingly, and as a fun fact, Salzburg has about the same latitude as Seattle.

What makes Salzburg such a great city to explore is that it’s probably one of the most walkable cities you can find. Everything is in close proximity and you won’t have to cover large distances between the various sightseeing landmarks.

Please also check out my other videos on my travel to Austria, including my trip to Salzburg and the surrounding mountains and valleys of the Salzkammergut such as Hallstatt, Bad Ischl, Gosau, St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen, Gmunden, Zell am See and of course my trip to Vienna - and so much more. Salzburg in 5 minutes ????‍???????? This is the baroque city Salzburg in Austria

Salzburg is one of the most beautiful baroque cities in Europe. The birthplace of Mozart fascinates with the narrow alleys and wide squares of the old town. Many people call Salzburg the little sister of Vienna. Is it true? In addition to the world-famous Salzburg Festival, Salzburg offers interesting and exciting events at any time of the year - as well as many places of interest.

The Hohensalzburg Fortress is the landmark of Salzburg and almost 1000 years old. It is the largest completely preserved castle in Central Europe. Also historical is the birthplace of Mozart and especially delicious are the famous Original Mozart Balls. Mozart even has his own statue on the Mozartplatz.

The Getreidegasse is the shopping street of Salzburg. On one side is the Mönchsberg elevator that takes you up the hill. Also worth seeing is Mirabell Palace with the Mirabell Garden, Hellbrunn Palace - one of our favourite places in Salzburg - and the Stiegl Brewery.

In the video we show you, where you can eat traditional food. The Austrian cuisine is tasty. The most famous dishes are Wiener Schnitzel, Tafelspitz and Kaiserschmarrn.

On our blog you can find all the information about Salzburg in more detail and still in 5 minutes to read:
