Island of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands - driving around Guadalcanal island, scenic views. Let's travel to the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Ocean and let's drive from the capital of the island of the island of Guadalcanal, the city of Honiara, and a few kilometers west and east of that city on order to get an idea as to how this beautiful island looks like.
Honiara, on the island of Guadalcanal, is the capital city of the Solomon Islands. Its buzzing Central Market sells local produce and handicrafts. Traditional frescoes adorn the conical National Parliament building. The National Museum has WWII relics and cultural artifacts. The Botanical Gardens includes an orchid house. Outside the city, the waters of the Mataniko Falls thunder down a rocky cliff into a canyon.
Solomon Islands is a sovereign country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania lying to the east of Papua New Guinea and northwest of Vanuatu and covering a land area of 28,400 square kilometres (11,000 sq mi). The country's capital, Honiara, is located on the island of Guadalcanal.

A moment in the Solomon Islands | Travel Video
This short film was shot during five days in the Solomon Islands, mainly around Munda and Gizo at the edge of the Roviana Lagoon. I was documenting a scientific expedition and was only able to shoot alongside my main task.
I would love to come back for a longer and deeper exploration of this magical country. the Solomon Islands are a very special place and the untouched natural beauty there is second to none. Definitely, one of the (still) often overlooked jewels in the Pacific!

Our plane landing at Gizo
Our plane landing at Nusa Tupe Airfield in Gizo. Note how close I am (and a bunch of other photograph-taking passengers are) to the runway. Within 15 minutes of shooting this video, the passengers deplaned, our luggage was loaded on, we boarded, and then we took off on our 10-minute flight to Munda, followed by a 50-minute flight to Honiara.
