Apia Flea Markets, Samoa (1080HD)

For more great information, photos and video about Samoa, see PleaseTakeMeTo's Samoa Travel Guide -

This is the place to find a wide range of local handicrafts and souveniers. The flea markets are right in the centre of town in close proximity to the fresh produce and fish markets and are open from 7:00am to 5:00pm every day apart from Sunday.

Most pricesare fixed but you can certainly ask for a discount of 10% or so if you're buying multiple items without offending anyone, but do be prepared to accept 'no' for an answer.

Apia Fresh Produce Markets, Samoa (1080HD)

For more great information, photos and video about Samoa, see PleaseTakeMeTo's Samoa Travel Guide -

These markets have a huge variety of fruit and other fresh produce and are busy with locals for most of the time they're open - that's 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Saturday. It's not only a good place to shop but also to meet people as a lot of locals do. There are some great options for lunch for the equivalent of about $5 Australian.

Here you're pretty much in the centre of town, a minute or so walk from the flea markets and a few minutes from the fresh fish market where you can pick up the best Samoan sea food right off the boats.

There is a major bus station adjacent to the markets.

SAMOA'S iconic flea market ????️ of APIA (last views before the fire!) ????

City of Apia, Samoa - the Apia central market (Apia flea market) before the fire. Let's travel to Samoa in the pacific Ocean and let's walk around the wonderful central market (flea market) of Apia, the capital of Apia and let's experience the Polynesian culture of this magnificent nation.
These are the last views of this flea market in Apia, Samoa. The flea market in the Samoan capital of Apia was destroyed by a massive blaze that quickly enguled the central city building, in January of 2016.
The Independent State of Samoa, commonly known as Samoa (Samoan: Sāmoa) and formerly known as Western Samoa, is a Unitary Parliamentary Republic with eleven administrative divisions. The two main islands are Savai'i and Upolu with four smaller islands surrounding the landmasses. The capital city is Apia.

Samoa is a collection of ten idyllic tropical islands situated in the South Pacific. It is easily accessible by plane from either Australia or New Zealand.

Once you land in Samoa visitors will be transported to another world where the weather is warm and tropical all year round and the locals have a very friendly, relaxed style of life, far removed from the hectic bustle of modern Cities.

Upulu and Savaii are the two major islands in the group where the majority of Samoas standout attractions can be found. These are typified by stunning jungle mountain ranges, plunging waterfalls, ancient volcanoes and sweeping beaches bordered by coral reefs and clear sparkling water.

Beach Fales are a traditional and extremely common type of room to stay in and are almost always situated right on the beach. Other resorts offer typical western styles of luxury accommodation.

Samoa is offers excellent value for money and is an ideal choice if you wish to relax in tropical paradise.

Western Samoa

From the Global Village Travel Guide and DVD, Islands of the South Pacific. Stock footage available from
Transcript:
The Samoan islands are geologically young and barrier reefs
have not yet fully enclosed them.
In places, the surf still washes the black volcanic rock.
The town of Apia, on the island of Upolu, is the capital
and only true city in Western Samoa. Colonial buildings
are strung like pearls along the wharf's Beach Road.
The streets are always busy and there is a perpetual
wave of colorful buses ready for the cruise in and
around town.
The market is the heart of Apia, and with the bus
station next door, there is a constant flux of activity.
Families often share the duty of holding their
space here at the market which may require
spending the night to insure having a spot for the next
mornings flood of buyers.
Children are expected to share in the family duties and usually
do so with willing hands..
These mountains above Apia were chosen by
Robert Louis Stevenson, whose books are known the
world over, as a home to spend his final years.
He and his wife Fanny are both buried nearby.
Stevenson was beloved by the natives and respected
by them as a great Tusitala or story teller.
Like most people who visit Western Samoa, Stevenson
was charmed both by the natural beauty of the land
and the warmhearted people
who are the real joy of Samoa.

This is a shopping centre, Samoan style. The markets spread across 2 levels in a vast shed.

Upstairs you'll find all manner of goods including local handicrafts.

Downstairs is the fresh produce market where you're likely to come across a whole range of unfamiliar foods.

There's a bus station right outside.
