In this video, we’ll provide an overview of our August 2022 visit to Grand Cayman, when our ship – the Carnival Glory – anchored off the coast of the capital city of George Town and we spent a couple of hours leisurely exploring the downtown area using a walking tour we created.

We are on our second rotation around all the restaurants now and we got to experience the better Animator's Palette show with Animation Magic! We drew our characters and watched them come to life on the big screens! We're having the best time on the Disney Fantasy and as always Disney Cruise Line is beating all of our expectations! George Town is a city situated on Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. It serves as the capital of the Cayman Islands, in the British West Indies. As of 2019, the city had a population of 35,528 making it the largest city (by population) of all the British Overseas Territories.
George Town is the heart of the Cayman Islands financial services industry (there are close to 600 Bank and Trust companies in the Cayman Islands). The Caymanian government offices are located in the city. According to the Globalization and World Cities Research Network in 2016, George Town is classed as a 'Beta − city'.

This island is easy to navigate and there are ways to get around without having to book an excursion. We are going to show you how to travel like a local, a couple must visit areas on the island, and what kind of food they have to offer here. We want to show you how easy it can be to explore Grand Cayman on your own. You can save a lot of money by doing these tips. We also visited the Grand Cayman Turtle Center and want to show you what they have to offer. If you are planning a trip to the Cayman Islands, whether it's a cruise ship stop or you are flying in, these tips will work for you. If you’re a bit more on the adventurous side, check out activities like diving the wreck of the Kittiwake. Grand Cayman is famous as a scuba diving destination and the wreck of the USS Kittiwake is one of the top spots to dive. Or descend into the 1000-year-old Crystal Caves and see the majestic limestone rock formations.
If you lean toward less adventurous outdoor activities, try hiking the Majestic Trail. The humidity gets pretty high and you’ll need to lather on some insect repellant to keep the bugs away but it’s a great spot to see the natural beauty of Grand Cayman without too many crowds. Or for an even more leisurely outdoor activity, spend a few hours strolling around George Town.
One of the must-see things to do in Grand Cayman is Seven Mile Beach. The beach, which is really only about five and a half miles long, is considered one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Snorkel its crystal-clear waters, try stand-up paddleboarding, or enjoy a meal at one of the bars or casual restaurants along the beach.

Things to do in George Town Grand Cayman. Take a leisure tour of George Town starting at the Cruise Port. See the spectacular boutiques along both sides of the streets among which is a Victoria's Secret. There is a museum, a beautiful mall and lots of other great attractions.

Georgetown Grand Cayman Cruise Port Area Tour (4K)
See what the cruise port area of Georgetown, Grand Cayman looks like after taking a tender boat ride from the ship. Cruise ships tender here because the waters are too shallow to dock.
The Grand Cayman Cruise Port landing area has several zones- the South Terminal, the North Terminal & Royal Watler Terminal. There were lots of shopping abound as well as you walk down Church St which becomes Harbour Dr- the Bayshore Mall, Turtle Bay, Margaritaville, Tortuga Duty Free, Churchill's Cigars, plus various shops at Royal Watler.
There was a small beach at the port area, though we did not see anyone on there, so it likely is off limits. The industrial port area near Grand Cayman Port Authority provides a nice view of all the cruise ships anchored. We observed the Carnival sensation, Carnival Dream, MSC Opera, Star Clipper Star Flier, the Celebrity Equinox and our ship the MS Eurodam.
The walk itself had some historical locations such as Hog Sty Bay, the Grand Cayman National Museum and Fort George. You can actually spend the whole day in this area shopping, people-watching, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

GIS Journal Special - George Town Cayman Islands Walking Tour
So I managed to save this GIS Journal Special - National Trust George Town Walking Tour Video, from December 2000. The VHS tape this video was originally on, was damaged in Hurricane Ivan, and was moulding away in my childhood home. This is what I was able to save. The start is a bit shaky but you don't miss much, and it levels out quickly. Enjoy this little blast from the past, along with some Cayman history. :)
