These Photos Will Change The Way You Look At Strangers

December 2013. I was on a photography trip to Bikaner, in the deserts of Rajasthan, India. Near the busy train station, I saw a man I wanted to photograph. I hesitated. The look in his eye and his stony, stern look intimidated me. It's always that moment of hesitation that kills a shot! I ended up avoiding him and photographing other subjects until I heard his jovial voice, Take my picture too!.
Camera lens focused, my finger poised to fire. 'Smile', I called out. And he was transformed. His face radiated warmth, his eyes sparkled with a humor I had completely missed. Even his posture softened. I knew then what my next project would be. So I asked them to smile was born. I wanted to document the effect of the human smile on a strangers face.
In the days, months and years that followed, I asked random people on my photography adventures (mostly on the streets of India) to pose unsmiling and with a smile. These images are the heart of my project. Its goal is to recreate the mindset from which we view a stranger, and then witness as our assumptions transform with their smile.
So there are no names. No occupations. No confirmed religions or ethnicity. No intriguing life lessons or heart strumming anecdotes. Just one human face. Without, and with a smile.

One Breathtaking HD Photo From Every Country in the World

Welcome! This video includes one beautiful photo from every country in the world. I hope you enjoy it :)

While making this video, I decided to make a few guidelines for myself on the pictures I added. First, I only chose ones that I thought were truly high definition. Second, I tried to pick pictures that show how each country on this planet is beautiful. I also attempted to add a bit of an unknown look at a few countries; for example, when people think of Italy they don’t usually think of Civita Di Bagnoregio, but I believe it is a beautiful city and place in the country so I added it in. I also tried to put pictures in that showed a big view and not just a pretty house or nice camera angle. That’s because honestly, anyone can build a nice house or put a cute animal somewhere and call it pretty. I want to show how each and every country, in and of itself, is truly beautiful.

Disclaimer: Since there is no specific worldwide definition for the word “country”, there is not a specific number the world agrees upon for total number of countries in the world. Most are in the area of 192-196 but there are constant disputes over the exact number, so this video will include include probably the most widely recognised number - 194. Also remember that the world and politics are constantly changing. This video is up to date as of June 2015, but countries and communities change their minds so this may not be completely up to date at the time you watch it. Additionally, I do NOT own any of the songs or pictures in this video. All credit goes to the photographers and artists, as well as their online publishers. Thanks so much for watching, and enjoy a visual tour of the beautiful earth we live on :)

Songs:

1. Song for Allie - Danny Carvalho
2. Imagine - Jim Kimo West
3. Lokelani’s Lullaby - Dwight Kanae

If you like the video please drop a like. It doesn’t make me any money, just lets me know what I’m doing is making others happy :)

One Photographer's Journey Around the World in Over 6,000 Photos

I Do Not Own The Rights To This Video
Abandoning a successful business career, Kien Lam quit his job and spent a year traveling around the world, shooting time-lapse videos in 17 countries. Time Is Nothing is his five-minute compilation of these moments, and a standout example of what has become a favorite genre among web videos -- professional photographers' vacation diaries.
The idea for the video came from other beautiful time-lapse videos I had seen and Matt Harding's dancing videos from a few years back. I wanted to create something that could quickly, but thoughtfully show the beauty and culture of all the places I'd be visiting. I brought along a Panasonic GF-1 camera and a tiny tripod that I could easily carry everywhere in a small shoulder bag. I wanted the trip to be just about traveling and enjoying the experience. I would shoot what I saw whenever and wherever I was, rather than seek something out and wait all day for the perfect light to hit. At the end of it all, I had thousands of photos from practically every city I traveled to and did not feel like I compromised any part of my adventure for the sake of the shot. The feeling of returning home with my hard drives safe and intact, the physical memory of my entire trip sitting there next to my computer, was an indescribable mix of relief and early onset nostalgia. Over the next few months I taught myself about video editing and slowly selected, processed and compiled the photographs into over 150 separate scenes, a number of which I eventually had to cut in order to bring the video to a manageable run-time. Once the rough cut was completed, my brother, William, and I began working on an original musical composition to support the mood and flow of the video. We finished just before Christmas and put the finishing touches on it just in time for a New Year release.

When it is time to go on vacation, what we love the most is traveling around the world and taking pictures. But you’ll be surprised when you hear that most of the photos you see online don’t really show you the truth. Take a step back, look at it from another angle, or just go there at another time and you’ll notice that many things are different. This is why we are showing you 10 Photos that Will Change the Way You See the World.

Seeing the pyramids of Egypt is a dream come true for many people. But this is what people who live in Cairo see every day, so they are probably not really impressed anymore. The best place to go in this city is probably the Pizza Hut because you can see the pyramids simply by looking through the window.

In Indonesia, the government turned a little village in something incredible simply by investing in paint. In what is now called the Rainbow Village, all the buildings are painted with every color of the rainbow, and you can also find some pieces of art. It is now a place you must see if you want to post the best pictures on social media.

Stay tuned to see more photos that will change the way you see the world like the Great Wall of China, Nördlingen, the Mona Lisa, Copacabana, Hollywood, Mexico, Stonehenge, and Santorini. If you could have a free ticket to visit one place in the world, where would you go? Don’t be shy to answer in the comments section down below. We love to hear what you think.
