Paris: Regal and Intimate

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | In Paris, amidst all of its grandeur, the little joys of life are still embraced. In this first of two episodes on Paris, we'll cruise the Seine River, visit Napoleon's tomb, and take in the Louvre. Then we'll feel the pulse of Paris — shopping in village-like neighborhoods, attending church in a grand pipe organ loft, and celebrating the mother of all revolutions with a big, patriotic Bastille Day bang. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #paris

Paris - City Video Guide

On the banks of the river Seine in northern France, Paris attracts 42 million visitors a year, making it the most visited city in the world.

Beginning at the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées runs along the Historic Axis. This grand avenue is where Parisians come to eat, drink, shop, enjoy the theater and celebrate life. It merges into the largest square in Paris, the Place de la Concorde.

A short stroll away is the world's most visited museum, the Musée du Louvre, and modern art at the Centre Pompidou. The neighborhood of Montmartre, with its winding streets, was once home to Picasso, Dali and Van Gogh

There's no more famous Parisian icon than the Eiffel Tower, which can be seen from all over the city. Other unmissable landmarks include the Notre Dame Cathedral and gleaming white Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

The city's many attractions are never far apart, and in between visitors can enjoy a serene stroll through picture-postcard streets of Paris.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.
