#Prague is a city in the Czech Republic where sleek, modern buildings share space with ancient gothic architecture. Wander down the twisting cobblestone streets – you’re sure to find something new and exciting. After all, even locals get lost here.

A Prague #vacation usually involves the Royal Route, a historic coronation path that will take you through Old Town. Walk a few blocks to Old Town Square and sample local street fare in the shadow of old castles and palaces. Cross over the Charles Bridge and climb up to Prague Castle, a network of palaces, churches, and numerous museums.

Your Prague #sightseeing must pause at St. Vitus Cathedral, a massive gothic structure dating back 600 years. You’ll see people gathered under the statue of St. Wenceslas to share their daily adventures. The people here are friendly, so why not join them and chime in with your own stories?

Prague - City Video Guide

The Central European city of Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and is one of the world's great architectural jewels.

Like a city from a children's story book the city conjures up images of romantic fairy stories and dark gothic folk tales.

The city is a cobblestone labyrinth where even locals get happily lost. An easy way to discover Prague is to follow the Royal Route, which starts at the Powder Tower and ends at Prague Castle.

Along the way, stop at Old Town Square, a plaza surrounded by former palaces. Highlights here include the Astronomical Clock and Tyn Church. Explore the Old Town to discover sidewalk cafes, galleries and the ancient Jewish Quarter.

Pass beneath the Bridge Tower, cross the beautiful Charles Bridge, then climb the hill to Prague Castle. Rising above the castle are the 600 year-old gothic spires of St Vitus Cathedral.

Nearby, visit the tiny houses of Golden Lane, once the homes of castle guards, and later, the city's goldsmiths.

At night, locals and travelers meet under the statue of St Wencesias, to begin even more adventures in this most magical of cities.

A walk in Prague, A Prague travel guide. This video combines a short walk in Prague with a travel guide to the city.

The bohemian allure and fairytale atmosphere of #Prague make it a perfect destination for culture vultures who want to immerse themselves in history, art, music, and architecture. You could devote an entire day to exploring the town, wandering Old Town Square, and spending time at the Astronomical Clock before heading up to the Magnificent #Prague Castle.

According to the tradition A Gallic tribe named the Boii, first inhabited the land where #Prague is now laying down. From the tribe's name, the region Bohemia has taken its one. After the collapse of the Roman Empire, the Germanic tribes settled in the region and during the sixth century, the Slavic tribes established themselves in the area.

Prague is bisected by the Vltava River. Nicknamed “the City of a Hundred Spires” it is known for its Old Town Square, the heart of its historic core, with colourful baroque buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock, which gives an animated hourly show.
Prague is probably one of Europe's most charming and beautiful cities and has become a very popular travel destination in Central Europe. Prague's medieval centre remains a wonderful mixture of cobbled lanes, walled courtyards, cathedrals and countless church spires. This town is also a modern and vibrant city full of energy, music, cultural art, fine dining and special events catering to the independent traveller's thirst for adventure.

Prague's historical centre fascinates visitors with the unparalleled ensemble of many architectural styles from Romanesque rotundas to Gothic spires, from Renaissance palaces to the Jewish synagogues and Baroque churches. But also monasteries, Art Nouveau and Modernist houses ‑ all telling the story of a city largely untouched by natural disasters and wars, sealed off by the Iron Curtain from the rest of the world for the last fifty years.
The pedestrian Charles Bridge is a unique architectural medieval prodigy lined with statues of Catholic saints and until 1841 was the only bridge over the Vltava River in Prague. Built during 1357 by Charles IV, after the previous bridge had been destroyed by floods, it is 516 meters long, 9.5 meters wide, 13 meters high, and stands on 15 pillars. The bridge, formerly known as “Stone” or “Prague”, has taken its current name since 1870. Charles Bridge is a magnificent, charming historical building often full, not only with people crossing the bridge but also with various artists, painters and musicians.
Crossing the bridge, we found the incredible Prague Castle, the largest coherent castle complex in the world, a UNESCO Heritage site. It consists of a large-scale composition of palaces and ecclesiastical buildings of various architectural styles of the last millennium, including Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral, Romanesque Basilica of St. George, a monastery and several palaces, gardens and defence towers. The Gothic Cathedral is simply beautiful and breathtaking. As soon as you walk in you get this sense of overwhelming emotion. However, the real surprise is the Romanesque Basilica with its ascetic and clean style and incredible frescos. The church is dominated by its two white stone steeples, which reach a height of 41 m. The church's ceiling is made of a deep dark wood, its height accentuated by the narrow width of the church. Decorative windows in the stonewalls provide atmospheric lighting. The overall effect is a very old world.
Leaving the Castle area you cannot avoid the visit to the panoramic view, which is one of the most spectacular in the world.
Each of Prague’s districts has its own characteristics, atmosphere, and unique charm. The city, however, presents itself as changeable, possessing alternate styles: romantic and successful, ancient and modern, but above all, cosmopolitan and breathtaking.

TEXT Bridges, Cathedrals, Churches and Towers – Prague is a city that’s insanely pleasing to the eye. If you have only 48 hours in this town, let me show you what you can do!

Amongst the most famous attractions is the Charles Bridge. Back in the days, the most important connection between Prague Castle and the Old Town. It’s protected by bridge towers and decorated with an alley of 30 statues and a whole lot of merchandising and tourists. Yeah, it’s a busy bridge! If you want it more for yourself, you best arrive extremely early in the morning.
Going west on the bridge, you’ll end up in Prague Castle. The largest ancient castle in the world. The first walled building was created in 870. Now there are Churches, Palaces, Towers, Gardens and Halls. Yes, multiple of everything! It’s quite impressive. You could easily spend your whole here, and still you won’t see everything there is.

Between the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle is this colourful creation.

And even today this wall is still alive, with lots of people writing their messages of love and peace on it. You could visit year after year, and get a different colors all the time.

If you want to see more local places and check out the artistic, underground scene, you should sign up for an Alternative Prague Walking Tour. One of the highlights of our stay definitely. Go beyond the beaten paths, and find some spots you probably wouldn’t have stumbled upon yourself.
I liked this tour so much I’ll make a separate video about it. Check it out in the upper right corner!

And then there is food! If you’re a foodie, you’ll be very happy in Prague! Let me show you some of my favorite places. And to make it easy I also put a little map down in the descriptionbox.

Of course we couldn’t leave Prague without seeing the Astronomical clock on the old town square. Ending the day with a beer in Letna Park.

A good view to end our stay in Prague!
Next week we continue east. To Brno, Oloumouc and Ostrava.
