Briksdal Glacier Excursion from Olden, Norwegian Fjords Cruise
Taking a shuttle bus to Briksdal Glacier from the cruise ship port of Olden in Norway on a Norwegian Fjords cruise. Situated in a beautiful National Park, Briksdal Glacier is an arm of the largest glacier on continental Europe. You can take a troll-car or walk around 3km to the glacier and lake, passing the spectacular waterfall along the way. This video shows some of the highlights from the whole experience.

Briksdalsbreen Glacier - Cinematic Drone Video, Norway, 4k
Briksdalsbreen or Briksdals Glacier has retreated several hundred meters during last years.
You can still see the glacier hanging steep down from the Jostedalsbreen Glacier which is the largest glacier on the European mainland.
Briksdalsbreen is one of the most accessible and best-known arms of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. Briksdalsbreen is located in the municipality of Stryn in Vestland county, Norway. The glacier lies on the north side of the Jostedalsbreen, in Briksdalen (the Briks valley) which is located at the end of the Oldedalen valley, about 25 km south of the village of Olden. It is located inside Jostedalsbreen National Park. Briksdalsbreen terminates in a small glacial lake, Briksdalsbrevatnet, which lies 346 meters above sea level.

Sognefjord is the longest and deepest fjord in Norway, and Nordfjord is the most picturesque branch fjord in Sognefjord. This video shares the scenic drive from Olden to Jostedal Glacier National Park along Olden Valley Park, and the hike to famous Briksdal Glacier.
Norway Scenic Route - Olden to Briksdal
This trip starts from the village of Olden, continue through the valley, pass ‘the little red church’ from the early 1900’s, continues along Lake Olden to Rustøen, all the way at the end of the fjord. On the route, we will find many colorful farms. The valley is very fertile and has many waterfalls. The distant view of the glacier is very beautiful. Briksdal Glacier is an arm of Europe’s largest glacier the Jostedal Glacier, the walk to the glacier is a beautiful track surrounded by waterfalls and mountains.
Norway, Lovatnet & Jostedalsbreen Glacier, Road Trip, 4k
In August 2020 we traveled to beautiful Jostedalsbreen National Park in Sogn og Fjordane, a national park in Norway that encompasses the largest glacier on the European mainland, Jostedalsbreen. The park now covers 1,310 square kilometers, with the glaciers covering about 800 square kilometers of the park.
We started our journey heading to Stryn and gorgeous Lovatnet and unbelievable color of the water. The green color comes from the meltwater from the glaciers that lie on the mountain peaks around. Driving a camper or caravan is a bit too narrow and you should consider it, especially in high season. Video will give you an overview and an impression of the road.
Glacier Jostedalsbreen has several good approach places and we had to choose only several of them that we like best and leave others for next trips.
#Kjenndalenbreen
At the end of Lodalen, you will find Kjenndalenbreen. The beautiful drive through Lodalen to the glacier is worth the trip alone. The narrow roads and the enchanting green-blue lake are a sight, and if you are in the area, you must stop by.
#Bøyabreen
Bøyabreen Glacier is the easier to approach the glacier. At least two parking lots and one is suitable for overnight stop with all facilities you might need. Just 5 minutes walk and you will enjoy the glacier.
#Nigardsbreen
Nigardsbreen (Nigards glacier) is another glacier with easy access but will require some driving through a nice valley. After a short boat trip across the glacier lake (60 NOK for round trip) you can get close to the blue ice on your own or join glacier guides up on the ice.
#StyggevatnDam
Styggevatnet is a glacial lake from the glacier Jostedalsbreen. The lake is regulated by a dam and it empties into the river Jostedøla.

Austdalsbreen - Norway's best glacier | Jostedal
WARNING: Glacier has, as all in Jostedal, melted several hundred meters since we were there in 2012.
The video shows maybe the best trip we ever had the last ten years.
The Austdalsbreen is glacier in western Norway. It's still ends in a lake and is calcing from time to time. It's only possible to get there between end of July and end of september. You need to take a kayak to get there.

Jostedal Glacier Tour
A short tour of the largest glacier in continental Europe. Tours are organized through the glacier visitor center. These run from a simple one hour tour to a full day excursion with climbing gear and ice axes. I only had time for the 1-hour tour. If I had the chance I would have taken the full day tour, the whole experience was amazing.
