Curacao - A Virtual Tour | Netherlands Antilles | Dutch Caribbean Island | ABC Islands | Travel VLog

Curaçao is one of the 3 Dutch Caribbean islands located 40 miles north of Venezuelan coast.
Together with Aruba and Bonaire it forms the ABC islands as a colonial territory of the Kingdom of Netherlands. The country is just 40 miles long and 5 miles wide with Willemstad as the capital and the downtown too.It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
A good news for the travelers is that you dont need a Schengen Visa to visit and for Indian passport, a Valid US visa on the passport is enough to enter.
The country is very colorful with its iconic buildings and architecture resembling Netherlands in Caribbean setup.
One of the engineering marvels you will see in downtown is the Queen Emma Bridge.
It is a pontoon bridge built in 1888 serving as a customs entry and exit point for the ocean going ships. Its fun watching it work and the people in bridge stuck for atleast 30 minutes while it closes again for operation. It happens for every ship entering and leaving
Its pretty laid back there and its so refreshing walking around with the colorful buildings and loud caribbean music all over...
The best way to see the country is by taking a day trip and I took a whole day scuba and snorkel trip with a bunch of fellow divers in a scuba bus with the gears and refreshments loaded
The official outfit for the day was swim suit or shorts with t shirts on and off between dives and snorkelling...
The beaches are so beautiful with the blues and greens and can spend the whole day just watching it... Every street leads to a beach or a bay ...The weather was perfect and the ocean was warm...
We spent a lot of time in the water diving or snorkeling with the beautiful and colorful fishes big and small...And also on the shore relaxing during the break under the shade with the breeze drying us while refreshing. The water was so clear that we could see the floor of the ocean from the cliff
The light blue or green parts are the shallows and the dark blue the depths
It was so beautiful and enticing to jump off the cliff and take a dip...I did not know swimming so was just watching others jump !
Next day I took off to Klein Curaçao which means little Curacao. It was a 2.5hr journey in a small cruise ship experiencing every wave and was a bumpy ride with heavy rains...Once you reach you can just see a lighthouse and a couple of huts to serve food and nothing else...After docking you have the whole day to spend the way you want...It is a small island just 0.6 sq miles and I decided to walk around and climb up the lighthouse to have a panoramic view of the ocean and then to the other side to check out the ship wrecks...
I wish I could freeze the time and just stay here ...
I just loved the time alone and away from the worlds pace , noise , internet and especially phones...
Then I got into the water snorkeling with turtles and colorful fishes...
The turtles were so curious and they wanted to swim and play with me...
In the mainland Curaçao I tried underwater scooter ride to interact with the sea creatures like sea urchins and sea horses.
As other countries Curaçao also has the lock tradition and they call it love lock and shaped like a heart.
Once you break the walls thats been holding you captive ...your journey to explore the world can finally begin....
A really touching message on a real wall unlike the FB wall
The best time to explore the downtown is the evening after the day trips to take a stroll through the decorated and colorful streets and all the way to the Curacao sign enjoying the breeze along the shore
The best way to retire for the day is to go to the pier ...sit and watch the lighted city and the bridge and later dining with some live music and dance ????
Very interesting activity of every trip is food and as usual I tried the local dishes and fishes to conclude my trip and this video as well
Hope you liked this video...please subscribe and leave a comment for suggestions and feedback...
Thanks for watching guys....Adios !!!!

About Bonaire: Bonaire is a Dutch island in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. Its capital is the port of Kralendijk, on the west (leeward) coast of the island. Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao form the ABC islands, 80 km (50 miles) off the coast of Venezuela. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, the ABC islands lie outside Hurricane Alley. The islands have an arid climate that attracts visitors seeking warm, sunny weather all year round. Bonaire is a popular snorkeling and scuba diving destination because of its multiple shore diving sites and easy access to the islands fringing reefs. As of 1 January 2019, the islands population totaled 20,104 permanent residents, an increase of about 1,200 since 2015. The islands total land area is 288 square kilometres (111 sq mi); it is 38.6 kilometres (24.0 mi) long from north to south, and ranges from 4.8–8 km (3.0–5.0 mi) wide from east to west. A short 800 metres (0.50 mi) west of Bonaire across the sea is the uninhabited islet Klein Bonaire with a total land area of 6 km2 (2.3 sq mi). Klein Bonaire has low-growing vegetation including cactus (Papiamento: kadushi), with sparse palm trees near the water and is bordered by white sandy beaches and a fringing reef. // Kralendijk is the capital city and main port of the island of Bonaire in the Caribbean Netherlands. The language spoken in the town is Papiamentu, but Dutch and English are widely used. As of 2017, the town had a population of 10,620. In Papiamentu, the town is often called Playa or beach. Netherlands Antilles

The Netherlands Antilles, previously known as the Netherlands West Indies or Dutch Antilles/West Indies, consists of two groups of islands that form part of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. The islands are Curaçao and Bonaire, which are just off the Venezuelan coast and belong to the Leeward Antilles; and Sint Eustatius, Saba and Sint Maarten, which are located southeast of the Virgin Islands and are part of the Leeward Islands. These Dutch islands form an autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The islands' economy depends mostly upon tourism, international financial services, international commerce, shipping, and petroleum.

The Netherlands Antilles are scheduled to be dissolved as a unified political entity on October 10, 2010, so that the five constituent islands will attain new constitutional statuses within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. ( source Wikipedia )

Exploring Curaçao: The Caribbean's Dutch Paradise

Explore This Goes to Curaçao!

Curaçao. A stones throw from Venezuela and her Dutch Caribbean sister islands of Bonaire and Aruba…yet her own perfect vibe of street art, diving, a melting pot of cultures, languages and traditions, plus colorful homes and urban street eats.

Our favorite local adventures:
1. Abseiling from The Queen Juliana Bridge: The tallest bridge in the Caribbean…gives you 185 feet to take in stunning views of St. Anna bay, after you’re done peeing your pants from having to exit from a porthole within the bridge and stand on a tiny ledge with no handholds. Totally worth it, if your pants are quick dry.

2. Spear Lionfish: For 12 years Lisette Keus and team at The Dive Shop Curaçao have been
hunting these decorative aquarium fish native to the indo-Pacific-turned-invasive-species in
other parts of the world courtesy of someone releasing them into the wild. It's a habitat where they have no natural predators, reproduce like rabbits and act like complete jerks on the reef
devouring larva of native species. A mature female (they mature after a year) can lay 50,000
eggs every three days for the rest of her life! And the egg mass contains a repellent that
ensures more baby lion fish survive. They are a true plague in the Caribbean and I’ve never
seen as many as we did here!! But that’s not all! A former journalist turned diver, Lisette also has
a restaurant serving these pesky but delicious fishes AND makes jewelry out of their gorgeous
fins and spines. And that folks is marine conservation at its finest without wasting a single piece of fish.

3. Street art: With its melting pot of cultures Curaçao is teaming with unique, colorful and
extraordinary street art. Stop for some local ice cream called lie (pronounced lee) and then walk
around the streets of Willemstad taking in the colorful assortment of murals. The most colorful streets are Punda, Otrobanda, Pietermaai and Scharloo.

Our favorite place to rest our weary heads:
The Avila Beach Hotel. It's the oldest hotel in Curacao is centrally located and boasts history,
private beaches and unique over water style wing reminiscent of south pacific bungalows.

Our favorite nosh spot:
Kas Di Piskado Purunchi, a local, family run eatery set in a fisherman's home where the oh so fresh fish is delivered by boat to the back of the shop that extends out over the water, is cleaned right there (scraps tossed to nurse sharks and pelicans) and served to your table all within about 20 feet.

Bonaire - Beautiful island of the Netherlands located in the Caribbean Sea

Bonaire is a Caribbean island that occupies an area of approximately 111 sq mi and has an estimated population of 20,104. The island measures 24 mi long from north to south, and its width ranges between 3 mi and 5 mi. Politically, it was previously part of the Netherland Antilles, which was a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and later became a special municipality of the Netherlands following the dissolution of the Netherland Antilles in 2010.

Bonaire, together with Aruba and Curaçao, form the ABC islands, which are situated 50 mi from the Venezuelan coast. Additionally, Bonaire is one of three islands that make up the Caribbean Netherlands, which also includes Sint Eustatius and Saba.

The flat, tiny island of Bonaire is often overlooked by Caribbean vacationers, and that’s a shame. Like Aruba, it boasts an amazing climate, and it’s safely out of the hurricane band. The “rainy season” runs from October to January, but total precipitation is low. Dutch and English are widely spoken here, and the official currency is the U.S. dollar, which is a nice perk. Attractions include salt flats, ancient rock art, historic buildings and exquisite beaches. Be on the lookout for flamingoes and iguanas, which are found in abundance. For food, don’t miss the rock lobster or conch.
