The Limu Pools are located in north-west Niue and the place is easily accessible via a footpath from the main road, leading down to the Pacific Ocean.
One of the most beautiful swimming and snorkelling areas on the northern coast of the island, the crystal clear waters of Limu hold a wide variety of fish life and caves to explore. The mixture of salt and fresh water flowing out from the island provides a refreshing and unique snorkelling experience. The track to Limu is clearly marked at the northern end of Namukulu Village and has wonderful picnic areas available.

Island of Niue, Pacific Ocean - scenic canyon and Matapa Chasm in the island of Niue, Pacific Ocean. Let's go to the island nation of Niue which is a small island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. Niue is known for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. In Niue, we are going to visit Matapa Chasm which is noted for its expansive cliff face and historical importance as a reserved bathing place for Niue's traditional kings. Matapa Chasm is reached by a track which branches off from the main road at the foot of Hikutavake Hill and beside the start of the trek to Talava Arches. Matapa Chasm provides a sheltered snorkelling, swimming place for all.

Walking across the wave from the cove at the end of the Hio Sea Track, we reached a cave at around sunset. The domed cave had multiple openings a calm pool, and a chunk missing from its roof. I wonder how it formed.

The second pool at Limu Pools, Niue. The tide wasn't quite low enough to completely disconnect the pool from the ocean, resulting in a gently shimmering effect in the lowering evening sun. You can see a freshwater spring gushing it to the pool as well.
