A drone eye view of the Mountain View Suite. With 200 square metres of deck rising above the dunes, the Mountain View Suite provides ample living space and adds a touch of luxury to the Wolwedans Collection.
The Suite is located within walking distance from the Dunes Lodge, yet it is secluded, allowing guests to spend time in a homely and stylish atmosphere. Consisting of a spacious en-suite bedroom with a king-size bed, the Suite enables guests to enjoy the view of their private dune valley to the fullest.
A shaded patio provides an ideal venue for meals and relaxed hours lazing in a hammock. Add to this a spacious lounge, bar cabinet and dining area and you have a wonderful home away from home.
In the event that guests wish to enjoy their meals ‘entre-nous’, an open-plan kitchenette supports the preparation of meals at the Suite. An east-facing veranda and sundeck lead from the platform into the surrounding dunes. The main veranda has a ‘star-gazing’ bed, which provides a wonderful sleep-out venue during summer.
Keeping in line with the traditional Wolwedans style, the ambience is that of plain elegance embraced by a natural, comfortable charm.

Die Wolwedans Dune Lodge liegt am Rande des privaten 200.000ha großen NamibRand Nature Reserve an der Grenze zum Namib Naukluftpark, ungefähr zwei Fahrstunden südlich von Sesriem.
In diesem Gebiet sind unter anderem Oryxe, Kudus, Springböcke, Bergzebras, Hyänen, Kapfüchse, Paviane und Leoparden beheimatet. Mit über 100 Vogelarten kommen hier auch Vogelliebhaber auf ihre Kosten. Die Lodge ist Teil der Wolwedans Collection, die im Schutzgebiet noch weitere Lodges betreibt. Die zauberhafte Lage mit fast ständig blauem Himmel, roten Dünen, purpurfarbenen Bergen und endlos gelben Grasebenen kreieren eine unglaubliche Farben- und Formenvielfalt.
Die Wolwedans Dune Lodge wurde oben auf einem Dünenplateau errichtet und bietet weite Panoramablicke in alle Richtungen. Der Hauptkomplex der Unterkunft besteht aus mehreren Zeltchalets aus Holz und Canvas, die auf erhöhten Holzpodesten errichtet wurden. Sie bieten Platz für zwei Lounges, etliche Sonnendecks, einen großen Swimmingpool, eine Feuerstelle, ein Teezimmer, eine Bibliothek, einen eigenen Weinkeller, sowie zwei Speisezimmer. Von allen Gemeinschaftsbereichen gelangt man auf einladende Verandas, von denen man fantastische Blicke über die weite Dünenlandschaft Namibias genießen kann.

Our founder's first trip to Namibia was in 1997, and he visited on three more occasions before setting up Indigo Safaris. Als Walter und ich unsere Namibia-Reise planen, bekomme ich von meinem Arbeitskollegen Marco einen Tipp: «Du musst unbedingt nach Wolwedans!». Da ich Marcos Geschmack kenne, folgen wir seinem Tipp ohne Widerrede.
Wolwedans – Paradies im NamibRand Naturreservat
Das Naturreservat NamibRand umfasst 200’000 Hektaren und ist damit eines der grössten privaten Reservate im südlichen Afrika.
Es grenzt im Westen an den Namib Naukluft Park und liegt ca. 60 Kilometer südlich der bekannten Dünen von Sossusvlei mit den toten Bäumen (Link zu unseren Reisetipps über Sossusvlei).
Von der Wolwedans Dunes Lodge geniesst man einen magischen Ausblick auf die weite Landschaft mit den Bergen, den roten Dünen, der gelben Grassteppe und den grünen Büschen.

A walkthrough of our Wolwedans Mountain View Suite, which is a detached and completely separate property that is adjacent to The Wolwedans Desert Lodge (formerly Dunes Lodge) in the NamiBrand Nature Reserve in Namibia. It comes with a private plunge pool, a waterhole in front of the room, a private chef and a private vehicle/guide, for a completely bespoke experience. The Mountain View Suite will undergo extensive renovations soon, but we didn't find much fault in what was there for us as-is.
