MOROCCO | Getting Lost in Marrakesh!

Come with us on our Morocco adventure as we explore the chaos of Marrakesh (Marrakech), take a day-trip to the quiet and traditional Berber village of Imlil in the high Atlas Mountains, and then finally ride camels in the desert oasis of Palmerie just minutes from downtown Marrakech!

Follow us on Instagram for photos from our adventures!

We started our African family vacation by landing in Casablanca and checking out the Hassan II Mosque, then staying for two nights at a riad in Fes (see our Morocco Part I vlog for that part of our trip, link below). We then headed further north towards Chefchaouen as our next stop (see our Morocco Part II vlog, link below). We took the long way up to the blue city so we could stop by the Royal Stables in Meknes and the Roman ruins in Volubilis along the way. It was a small detour but it was well worth it to see these incredible sites!

We then turned back south and (after an 8-hour drive) ended up in Marrakech. We spent a couple days there drinking fresh-squeezed orange juice in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jemaa el-Fnaa (Djemaa el Fna) square, dodging the snake charmers as they tried to drape their snakes around our necks, and getting hopelessly lost in the labyrinth of the medina.

While based in Marrakech we also took a day trip to the high Atlas Mountains, driving past Richard Branson's hotel (Kasbah Tamadot, link below), and ending in the Berber village called Imlil. While in Imlil we hiked up to the hotel La Kasbah du Toubkal (link below) where we had a rooftop lunch with the world's greatest view of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in northern Africa. We continued our hike to a powerful and majestic waterfall, fed by melting glacial water from the mountain.

The next day was our last in Morocco, and we finished our trip by meeting the gentle giants (camels!) and their adorable fuzzy babies in Palmerie for a little ride around the desert. Did you know baby camels are born without humps?!

Thanks for joining us on our Moroccan adventure!

Lost in Morocco: A Girl's trip through Marrakech

In May of 2009, three American girls got the chance to travel to Morocco. During their visit, they were able to see Marrakech and Essaouria, ride some camels, do some shopping, eat some Moroccan take-out, and get violated by a monkey. Its a trip they won't soon forget....

First Thoughts on Morocco | Exploring The Streets of Marrakech

We have said goodbye to the UK and flown all the way to Morocco for the very first time! Very excited to be here - these are our first impressions!

First up we left London Heathrow to fly British Airways for the first time towards Marrakesh. Upon arrival our Airbnb host organized a hotel transfer for us (which we highly recommend doing).

The next day we explored the streets of Marrakech, going into the Medina and markets to try and attempt to do some shopping and enjoying a quiet Friday afternoon in the Jemma El Fna.

To end our first few days in Marrakech we did a tajine cooking class.

Marrakech Morocco Travel Guide | Morocco Vlog 2020

Marrakech is our first destination in our Morocco Vlog. In our Marrakech Morocco Travel Guide we will show you what we experienced at the onset of our Morocco Travel, everything from the Saadian Tombs to Bab Agnaou, the Souks in the Medina to wonderful restaurants. In my opinion, food in Marrakech ranks among the best in all of Morocco, and most of it can be found in the Medina. I hope you enjoy my Morocco Vlog, our next destination takes us away from Marrakech, to the magical village of Ait Ben Hadddou.

4 days in Marrakesh + Cost breakdown +tips &more. Morocco Vlog Part 2

Join me on an unforgettable journey to Morocco, where we'll experience the best of adventure, culture, and nature. From traversing the Agafay desert on a camel, hiking to the Ouzoud Waterfalls, to exploring the vibrant city of Marrakech, this travel vlog is packed with excitement and discoveries. Get ready to indulge in the mouth-watering cuisine, from tagine to couscous, and meet the friendly locals who will make you feel at home. Let's embark on this adventure together and unlock the beauty and magic of Morocco.

Back in February I travelled to Marrrakech and fell in love. It is one of the most exciting destinations I have ever been to and I am really excited to show you all the details about our trip.
In the video you will find the full detailed 4 day itinerary of our stay in Marrakech. Make sure to also check out the video about my experience of staying in a luxury desert camp in Agafay desert and a fun day trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls
part 1:

Where to stay:
- Nelia de Marrakesh Boutique hotel and spa :
- Scarabeo Camp :

What to do:
10. Explore the Marrakech medina (free walking tour)
The medina is the heart of the Marrakech, packed with shops, traditional houses called “riads”, restaurants, and many of the historic sites.

9. Try the traditional local food
Some staples you have to try include couscous, meat brochettes, and the most iconic dish of all: tagine.

8. Visit Marrakesh Museum/ Musee de confluence

7. Find peace at the Majorelle Gardens and YSL museum
Located in Marrakech’s new town, these lush botanical gardens are filled with cacti, palms, and other colorful trees, offering a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

6. Stroll around Mellah Jewish Quarter
There are still a number of Jewish places here, including the Lazama Synagogue, the Miara Jewish Cemetery, and the Spice Market.

5. Get lost in the souks
What makes the souks in Marrakech remarkable is the wide variety of exotic items you can buy, such as babouches, lanterns, ceramics, carpets, and leather goods.

4. Check the ruins of El Badi Palace
The Saadian Ruler Al-Mansour who was buried in the Saadian Tombs we discussed earlier also had built a grand palace in the 16th century.

3. See the beautiful Bahia Palace ( 70 MAD)

2. Go on a day tour to the Ouzoud Waterfalls
Ouzoud Waterfalls day tour:

1. Experience the Jemaa el-fna square + Koutoubia
the Jemaa-el-Fna square is the hub of entertainment, with a variety of food and juice stalls, musicians, fortune-tellers, henna tattoo artists, and snake charmers.

Other tours from Marrakech:
☑️ Traditional Moroccan Cooking Class & Market :
☑️ Atlas day hiking trip:
☑️ Hot air balloon flight over Marrakech :

This is a road trip I did with my brother last summer in Morocco. We went to several cities and we met a lot of people. We start from my home town Mohammedia located 20 km from Casablanca, to Benimellal then to Bin el ouidane, Ouzoud falls, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Merzouga, Tinghir, Todgha Gorges, Dades Gorges, Keelat M'gouna, Agadir, and to Paradise valley 70 km from Agadir city.
We took only public transportation most of the time so you have no excuse to go out there for a road trip, if I can do it you can do it.
