Working in Scotland vs Norway vs America!: Work Culture Abroad! (Part 1!)

Hi, everyone! As a thank you for 2,000 subscribers I decided to post this video early :D

My friend Ingeborg and I discuss our experience working here in the UK versus our home countries of the US and Norway. This video ended up being longer than expected so I had to cut it in half suddenly. Sorry about that.

In this episode, we discuss trial shifts, interviewing, probation periods, and holidays/work-life balance! :)

Is it safe to live in Norway? Not always.

#Blindviolence #yourway2norway #norway
Violence happens everywhere, even in one of the, supposed to be, safest countries in the world.

Unfortunately the reason we have not posted videos lately is sad and tragic. In one of the safest countries in the world, Mads was attacked and became a victim of intense, random violence. This is the story of what happened.

Is Norway the best country in the world to live in????????? (Highest HDI)

The Human Development Index measures each country's social and economic development by focusing on the following four factors: the average years of schooling, expected years of schooling, life expectancy at birth, and gross national income per capita.

This then gives each country a score, the closer to 1 you are, the better the living standards generally are in your country.

So at 0.957, Norway is the highest ranking country on Earth for the Human Development Index, but what exactly does this mean and just how great of a place is Norway to live?

Americans go shopping in Norway at a supermarket! (First impressions + thoughts)

While on our van trip through Norway, we definitely wanted to be sure to visit a supermarket and see what locals eat! If you’ve watched any of our other supermarket videos, it’s no surprise that this is a favorite pastime for us while we travel! There is something about getting to walk the isles of the store and see what local shoppers are placing in their carts. For us, we love trying new foods and even though there are many similarities in foods between European countries, it’s exciting and fun to discover the differences.

In this video, we explore a mid-range supermarket, REMA 1000, while we briefly visited the city of Lillehammer, Norway. Come follow along to see what items we found!

Living in Norway – The Pros and Cons

In today's video, we'll be discussing the pros and cons of living in Norway. From scenic landscapes and vibrant culture to high taxes and small towns - there are many positive and negative aspects to consider when moving here. So, stick around as we get into the details about what it is like to live in this beautiful country!
Pros
1. Great education
Let's start off by taking a look at what makes Norway's educational system so great. First up, they focus heavily on providing free basic education to all citizens regardless of background or economic status. This shows how dedicated their government is to ensuring equal opportunities for everyone when it comes to excellence in learning.
Secondly, colleges offer lower tuition fees than those found in most other developed countries; this ensures an accessible learning experience without due financial strain upon students or families. And finally, Norwegian universities are renowned for having fewer yet more meaningful courses which consistently rank amongst some of Europe’s highest academic standards available today. Great education is one of the top reasons for moving to Norway.
2. Not being crowded
If you're the kind of person who really values their privacy and hates crowds, then living in Norway is a dream come true! Sure, it's an incredibly beautiful country with plenty of amazing sights to explore - but it's also one of the least densely populated countries in Europe with a population of 5.37 million. This means that even on peak tourist days, there are still rarely any real overcrowding issues.
Not only is this great if you want to enjoy some peace and quiet (or a bit of good old fashioned Norwegian solitude) - but it also means that having a picnic at the park or going out for a stroll on your own won't be spoiled by hordes of people elbowing each other aside. Plus - no pesky queues! That alone should be enough incentive for moving to Norway.
3. Strong economy
First and foremost, Norway has one of the highest GDPs and standards of living in Europe. They have a GDP per capita of $69,000 per anum. That means that we are able to enjoy luxuries such as high quality healthcare and education, free access to cultural events, sport facilities and transportation services. This makes life in Norway much more enjoyable than elsewhere.
Not only do we get to benefit from these advantages but also from feeling secure knowing that if something bad were to happen like an emergency or crisis we would be dealt with quickly due to how well funded our government is by its citizens' taxes. Strong economy leads to greater wealth for individuals, and this makes it a great proposition for moving to Norway.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

10 Reasons Not to Move to Norway

What are some reasons why you shouldn't move to Norway? Hey Everyone! Welcome to my channel -- today I'm talking about 10 Reasons NOT to move to Norway. Known for breath-taking fjords, polar nights, and majestic mountains, many people consider Norway the perfect place to live - but it's not for everyone! In this video, I'll be taking a look at the downsides of moving there – from costs of living and long winters, all the way through to language barriers and culture shock. So stay tuned if you want to find out what’s waiting for you in Norway, if it’s really worth making the leap.
10. No Amazon
If you're an online shopping enthusiast, then it might not be the ideal place to move. That's right folks - no Amazon!
Yes, I know what you're thinking: how can one of the most advanced countries in the world not have access to the convenience of Amazon? Well, unfortunately for Norwegian shoppers (and anyone else considering moving there) that is just a reality now as Amazon does not operate within Norway’s borders.
So why isn't Amazon available in Norway? The answer lies mainly with taxes – Norwegian customs regulations require that customers pay a 25 percent tax on all items purchased from non-Norwegian companies such as Amazon. On top of this, any item sent to Norway must also include 17.5% value-added tax (VAT). If you are habituated to ordering from the largest e-commerce store, then this might be one of the reasons not to move to Norway.
9. You can’t party much
If you're looking for a place to move that offers plenty of partying and nightlife, then Norway might not be your best bet. You see, the country has some pretty strict laws when it comes to alcohol consumption and public gatherings.
Plus, if you want to buy anything stronger than beer or wine, good luck – Norway isn't exactly known for its abundance of booze shops! So, if you plan on having wild nights filled with laughter and fun – this Nordic nation probably won't be your ideal destination.
If you are a party freak, then this is certainly one of the negative sides of living in Norway.
8. Adjusting to cultural differences can be difficult
If you’ve ever lived in Norway, you know that it can be hard to adjust. From the lack of sun during the winter months to an appreciation for hygge and fika - two things that are essential parts of Norwegian life - it can feel like moving from one world into another.
What makes adjusting especially difficult is that Norwegian culture values individualism over all else. People tend to keep themselves more private than other cultures around the world, so don't expect many invitations or warm welcomes when arriving in town.
And even though Norwegians won't necessarily come out and say they're uncomfortable with your presence, they will definitely show displeasure if what you do affects others negatively. If you are a social butterfly, then this could be one of the most important reasons not to move to Norway.
7. Property is expensive
According to a recent report from Global Property Guide, it was found that the average cost for purchasing a house or apartment in Oslo (the capital) was around US$2,997 per square meter in 2020. That’s almost double what many other countries charge for similar properties!
And if you think that number is bad enough wait until you hear about how much rentals are going for in Norway, they can be as high as US$1000 per month just for a small studio flat!

Norway Is it a perfect country to live? Short Documentary । 4K ultra HD

Hello people. Welcome back to our channel. I am micheal, and today i will take you to another #European country, #Norway. It is a country of #northernEurope that occupies the western half of the Scandinavian peninsula. Nearly half of the inhabitants of the country live in the far south, in the region around Oslo, the capital. About two-thirds of Norway is mountainous, and off its much-indented coastline lie. carved by deep glacial fjords, there are around 50,000 islands.

Indo-European peoples settled Norway’s coast in antiquity, establishing a permanent settlement near the present capital of Oslo some 6,000 years ago. The interior was more sparsely settled, owing to extremes of climate and difficult terrain, and even today the country’s population is concentrated in coastal cities such as Bergen and Trondheim. Dependent on fishing and farming, early Norwegians developed a seafaring tradition that would reach its apex in the Viking era, when Norse warriors regularly raided the British Isles, the coasts of western Europe, and even the interior of Russia; the Vikings also established colonies in Iceland and Greenland and explored the coast of North America (which Leif Eriksson called Vinland) more than a thousand years ago.

Lying on the northern outskirts of the European continent and thus avoiding the characteristics of a geographic crossroads, Norway (the “northern way”) has maintained a great homogeneity among its peoples and their way of life. Small enclaves of immigrants, mostly from southeastern Europe and South Asia, established themselves in the Oslo region in the late 20th century, but the overwhelming majority of the country’s inhabitants are ethnically Nordic.

???????? Norway 2. Norway Is Richer Than The USA. Two Days By An Electric Car In Norway.

Join us on an unforgettable journey through Norway! In this second film of our two-day trip, we explore the country's wealth and work-life balance, while taking in the stunning views on the way from Sandefjord Airport to Bergen.

Norway is known for being the world leader in terms of living standards, and in this video, we uncover the reasons why. From its thriving oil and gas industry to its developed fishing and woodworking sectors, Norway's diverse economy contributes to its position as one of the top ten richest countries in the world.

But it's not just about work in Norway. The Norwegian way of life values a healthy work-life balance, where personal connections and taking work home are encouraged. We chat with a local at a gas station to get a better understanding of the average Norwegian's standard of living, and their emphasis on relaxation and unwinding after a hard week of work.

As we journey through Norway, we also witness its natural beauty and outdoor activities. From mushroom picking in the forest to the adventurous spirit of its inhabitants, Norway is a land of wonder and exploration. It's no wonder that the average Norwegian enjoys a long and healthy life, with a life expectancy of almost 81 years for men and 84 years for women.

So come along with us on this journey, as we uncover the secrets behind Norway's wealth, work-life balance, and natural wonders. Whether you're planning your next weekend getaway or simply looking to explore the world from the comfort of your own home, this video has something for everyone.

This is my second film of our 2-day trip to Norway. In the first film, I talked about Norway as the number one country in the world for electric vehicles. In this film, I will tell you why Norway is one of the ten richest countries in the world, and at the same time, I will show what you can see on the way from Sandefjord Airport to Bergen. We really made it to Eidefjord. Watch and enjoy the ride. Or maybe you yourself decide to spend the weekend in Norway too. Then this movie will help you to see what you can see here.

About 30 percent of Norway's gross domestic product comes from the oil and gas industry. Norway exports iron, magnesium, titanium, and aluminum. The country has a developed fishing and woodworking industry.

Norway is the world leader in terms of living standards. In 2021, Norway was included in the top ten richest countries in the world according to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Norway, with a domestic mall product of $69,170 per capita, is in seventh place after Luxembourg, Ireland, Singapore, Qatar, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates. The United States of America is in eighth place, just behind Norway.

On the way, we decided to stop by a gas station for a cup of coffee. And at the same time, we asked the guy working there about his standard of living. Mick asked, Are you earning enough to survive?

The Norwegian way of life is all about work-life balance. For Norwegians, this is very important. The difference between who you are at work and in your free time is not that big for them. In Norway, it's customary to be personal at work. In return, it is also expected that work can be taken home and work from a home office.

Norwegians study hard and work hard throughout the week and year. But they also know how to relax and unwind. The average working week consists of five seven-hour working days. The average Norwegian takes a break every weekend and gets five weeks of paid vacation a year.

Good health and an active lifestyle are also important to Norwegians. Evenings and weekends are often filled with activities ranging from theatrical performances, and concerts to outdoor activities and sports. Norwegians have also become adventurous people who love to travel.

Norway is one of the countries with the highest life expectancy: almost 81 years for men and 84 years for women.

Norway has five and a half million inhabitants. Every year the number of residents increases due to the birth rate and immigrants.

We decided to run into the forest to see if it is the same as in Latvia? Right here. Here is the car. And then right by the road, look what mushrooms! In my opinion, this is the same boletus as in Latvia. Unfortunately, we cannot take it. So we'll put him back.

In my next film, we will continue our trip toward Bergen through the mountains.
