Lake Coatepeque - El Salvador

Lake Coatepeque - El Salvador

►Read the blog:

In this episode of El Salvador Unplugged, DBH heads to the beautiful Lake Coatepeque area, where David and crew check out the amazing landscape, beautiful views and laid back atmosphere of this local vacation spot. Initially a crater formed over 40,000 years ago from a massive volcanic eruption, Coatepeque has long since become the inhabited lake area that it is today. Check out all the residential houses, serpentine shoreline (where the lake gets its name) and giant volcanoes that form the horizon and surroundings of this beautiful area. When visiting, enjoy not only the water and the views, but also try some of the amazing lakeside food at Las Palmeras Restaurant, certain to serve you up a delicious spread. With a great meal, refreshing beer and unbeatable surroundings, Lake Coatepeque is the perfect area to wind down during your tour through the country.

SANTA ANA VOLCANO & COATEPEQUE LAKE, EL SALVADOR

This video is about our experience visiting the famous Santa Ana volcano and Coatepeque Lake in El Salvador. The experience was amazing and the views from the crater were astonishing. It was the first time that we visited an active volcano and even though the hike to the top was a bit difficult, it was well worth it.

Lago de Coatepeque, El Salvador, Cinematic View, DJI Mini 2 drone

Vista panoramica del Lago de Coatepeque, El Salvador

Lake Coatepeque, Santa Ana, El Salvador

We hiked the tallest and active volcano of El Salvador. It took us about 2 hours to go up and a bit over an hour to come down. Once we arrived to our car, we drove for a few minutes to Lago de Coatepeque. This is a must visit when you come to El Salvador. It is breath taking and peaceful. There's plenty of restaurants and hotels to chose from.

HUGE Volcanic Lake in EL SALVADOR | Coatepeque Lake!

If you visit El Salvador DO NOT skip Coatepeque Lake. It is a huge volcanic lake near Santa Ana and has some of the most amazing views in Central America.

I recommend staying at least 1-2 days at Coatepeque and also Jet-Skiing is a must! It is by far the best way to see the lake. The lake is usually calm which makes water sports a huge hit here.

If you are looking for lodging, I highly recommend staying at the Cardedeu Residence. Link below. You can book the Jet Skis at the front desk.

My First Time Riding A Jetski - Lago De Coatepeque, El Salvador

First time riding a #Jetski (#waveRunner) ever. The location is in Lago De Coatepeque, #ElSalvador. #LagodeCoatepeque is one of El Salvador's most beautiful and most visited lakes. It is also famous for changing colors once a year due to an algae bloom that began around 1998. This phenomenon occurs typically around the last week of august and first week of September.

The lake is home to almost 20,000 people and hosts many restaurants, hotels, hostels, Airbnbs, Vrbos etc... The more popular restaurants offer amazing panoramic views with volcanos in the background, and have ferry rides that have food and drinks. There is even a floating tiki bar!

The lake is located approx. 2 hours from San Salvador city center.
