Join us as we visit Kyiv (Київ) for the first time covering numerous attractions and things to do in the city of Kiev, Ukraine in this travel guide. Kiev city is a destination we didn't know much about prior to traveling to Ukraine. Arriving with fresh eyes it didn't take us long to fall in love with Kyiv. With incredible cathedrals, churches and monasteries to explore our days were busy and in terms of food we really enjoyed eating at traditional Ukrainian restaurants and sampling International food such as Georgian cuisine. Overall, we feel Kiev is one of the most underrated cities we've ever visited.

This week we’re showing you around Kiev, Ukraine. This was our first time travelling to the country, so we hardly knew what to expect, though we did have an inkling we’d find churches with onion domes, borsht on every menu, and very cheap prices, but that was it!
Well, we found some of that, but we also discovered a fascinating city with ornate architecture, massive Soviet monuments, a completely new cuisine, more churches and monasteries than we ever thought possible, and friendly people despite the language barrier.
The following is our travel guide to the city. Now let us share with you 20 things to do in Kiev on your next visit!
And that’s a wrap for our visit to Kiev! This was our first time travelling in Ukraine, but we were hooked right from the start.
This destination felt very underrated with few tourists around, yet we were surrounded by beautiful architecture, there were churches galore to visit, the cuisine was hearty and filling, and everything was super affordable.
If you are thinking of travelling to Kiev, we hope this video was able to give you a taste of what it’s like.

Why should I visit Kyiv? We'll show you why, with the best things to do in Kyiv. Kyiv Ukraine is fast becoming a popular travel destination, and is currently really underrated.
Our Ukraine Travel Series started in Kyiv (Київ) the Capital of Ukraine. We had 10 days to see as much of country as we could. We spent the first few days exploring and eating our way around Kyiv, including a haunting but memorable day trip to Chernobyl and the ghost town of Pripyat. You can watch this as a separate video.
Moving on south west of the country we took an overnight train to Ivano-Frankivsk before taking a hire car up into the Carpathian Mountains. Bad weather in the mountains restricted what we could achieve, before driving north to Lviv. Our final day was spend flying back to Kyiv to catch our flight home to the UK.

This is what you should do if you are looking to have the best day in Kiev, Ukraine. We will show you some places you have to consider when deciding where to go and what to see when visiting Kiev. Start at the motherland monument and play on some tanks. Honestly, we had such a fun morning at the motherland monument before heading to Independence Square. The tribute to the heavenly hundred who lost their lives in the revolution for dignity that took place in 2013-2014 is sobering and beautiful and not to be missed when visiting Kyiv. It is for sure heavy but very important and we thank you all for allowing us to share this part of Ukraine’s recent history with you. A great day in Kiev would not be complete without exploring a gorgeous orthodox church. Saint Sophia Cathedral is worth the admission price and is as stunning on the inside as on the outside. This day was full of the must see places in Kiev and we hope you all enjoyed exploring this amazing city with us!

Kamianets Podilskyi Castle - The castle is one of the most preserved castles in Europe is magnificent in its structure belonging to the IX century. The fortress is now popular as a movie making venue. It sits over the hillside across the river Smotrych.
Sofiyivka Botanical Park - Sofiyivka Botanical Park is a spacious botanical garden and a recreational ground which features lakes, forests and manmade paths. The park is adorned with rocks, ponds, sculptures and gazebos which give a spectacular view of the park. There are some activities going in the park as well such as boat rides, horsehide etc.
Sky Family Park is a recreational centre whose main attraction is the zip line over the Dnipro River. It also includes outdoor activities, entertainment and a good spot to spend some fun quality time with your family and friends.
Saint Sophia’s Cathedral - The architectural monument is one of the city’s best landmarks and first heritage site in the country. It indicates the new Constantinople created in the 11th century. The architectural entirety includes the bell tower, south entrance gate, metropolitan house, refractory and cell of the elders.
Sunflower field - The sunflower field is spread throughout the country and the best time to visit the flowers is in the month of August. This is the time when the flowers bloom and free entrance for all visitors. Many visitors come here to take photographs.
Tunnel of love - It is located in an industrial railway area near Klevan surrounded by green arches. Many people from all over the world travel to see the famous tunnel. It dates its origins to the times of secrecy of the Cold War.

Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine is extremely underrated travel destination in Eastern Europe. We had only 3 nights of time to travel there and we quickly realized it's not enough. Where the people of Kyiv Ukraine go to Cycle at speed - Kyiv Velodrome - Cycle drome - Travel Guide
Kyiv Velodrome (Cycle Drome to the locals) is where those serious about cycling at speed go to cut loose and compete against the best of the best. This place was once turned into a car park however thanks to keen Ukrainian cyclists the Velodrome was saved from corrupt developers who had been intent on putting up more apartments for the sake of profit. Thankfully health, history and community won and the Kyiv Velodrome was opened once again in 2017 - over a hundred years from when it first opened in 1913. The Kyiv Velodrome can be found at Vulytsya V'yacheslava Lypynsʹkoho, 15, Kyiv, 02000. It's a beautiful neighbourhood and worthy of your time if you are visiting Kyiv Ukraine.
