Jaffna is the northern capital of the Tamil area of Sri Lanka. Not long ago it was the center of the Sri Lankan civil war, but today Jaffna remains safe to visit as a tourist.
Jaffna town (யாழ்ப்பாணம்) is full of rich Tamil culture, a great place to hit the streets are explore the local food and flavors of town.
During this Jaffna travel video I walk around on Beach Road, eat a delicious Sri Lankan food breakfast of paratha bread and pol sambol (coconut garnish), check out the Jaffna Fort, walk past countless old building ruins, take a chaotic walk straight through the center of Jaffna town, eat a sour Jaffna mango, visit Nallur Kovil Hindu Temple for a 4pm traditional ceremony, dine on traditional local style Tamil Jaffna food, and finally taste for the first time a cup of thick wood apple juice!
Jaffna town (யாழ்ப்பாணம்) is an amazing town with a rich history and a very interesting culture. There are many things to do in Jaffna and a lot of places to see.

I went to Jaffna in Sri Lanka to find out what it's really like and see if it's safe for tourists. I found great food, friendly people, and a tropical paradise! Watch as I take you from Colombo to Jaffna by train and then show you around the sights of Jaffna City and meet some locals too.
I'll take you to the beautiful Nallur Kandaswamy Hindu temple, the markets of Jaffna, Jaffna Clock Tower, many local restaurants, and finish with sunset at Jaffna Fort. In the next vlog, we head to the coast and check out Jaffna's best beach.

Every time we told locals we were going to Jaffna, that's exactly what they would tell us... and they were right ????
We never take for granted when we can go to places that shock us. It's such a blessing to see how other people live and that's one of the best parts of being able to travel. Jaffna opened our eyes to a whole new world, and even though it was truly shocking at first, we left Jaffna with our hearts so full and feeling grateful we got to see and experience so many new things.
We truly appreciate you guys watching our videos. The only thing that makes our adventures better, is being able to share them with you. Thank you for being here!

இந்த காணொளி யில் ஏதும் பிழைகள் இருந்தால் கருத்து பெட்டியில் கூறவும்.
யாழ்ப்பாணம் :
யாழ்ப்பாணம் (Jaffna,යාපනය) என்பது இலங்கை தீவின் வடமுனையிலுள்ள யாழ்ப்பாண மாவட்டத்தின் தலைநகராகும். இது யாழ்பாண குடாநாட்டின் தென்மேற்குப் பகுதியில் யாழ்ப்பாண நீரேரியை பார்த்தபடி அமைந்துள்ளது. இலங்கையின் தலைநகரான கொழும்பில் இருந்து 396 கிமீ தூரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்நகரம், 88,138 மக்கட்தொகையினைக் கொண்டு 12வது பெரிய நகரமாக விளங்குகிறது.
யாழ்ப்பாணம் தமிழர்கள் அதிகம் வாழும் பகுதி ஆகும்.

Jaffna is a city on the northern tip of Sri Lanka. Nallur Kandaswamy is a huge Hindu temple with golden arches and an ornate gopuram tower. By the coast, star-shaped Jaffna Fort was built by the Portuguese in the 17th century and later occupied by the Dutch and British. Jaffna Public Library is a symbol of the city’s post-war regeneration. Jaffna Archaeological Museum has Dutch cannons and pre-colonial artifacts.
Jaffna is a very safe place for tourists. Safer than certain areas in Colombo at night. ... Jaffna is safe place to visit now, People are really good and supportive.

Jaffna யாழ்ப்பாணம், යාපනය, is the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It is the administrative headquarters of the Jaffna District located on a peninsula of the same name. With a population of 88,138 in 2012, Jaffna is Sri Lanka's 12th most populous city. Jaffna is approximately six miles (9.7 kilometres) from Kandarodai which served as an emporium in the Jaffna peninsula from classical antiquity. Jaffna's suburb Nallur, served as the capital of the four-century-long medieval Jaffna Kingdom.

Taking The Ferry From Jaffna to Nainativu Island, Northern Sri Lanka
Not too many people visit Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka and even less make the journey to the remote island of Nainativu. Home to a beautiful Tamil style Hindu temple and the North's only Buddhist temple, many locals make the journey from the mainland to Nainativu. To reach the island you have to take a ferry, run by the Sri Lankan navy. The ferry is really a very simple wooden barge, with very little space for passengers and a loud, chugging engine to propel the boat across the Palk Strait.
