Der Film begibt sich auf eine Reise entlang der Italienischen Riviera und zeichnet ein Portrait dieser faszinierenden Landschaft und seiner Bewohner. Ganz im Westen an der französischen Grenze nehmen Segel-Liebhaber aus aller Welt an einer Regatta für historische Yachten teil. Außerdem pflegen Pflanzenkenner in der Provinz Imperia einen der schönsten botanischen Gärten Italiens. Rund um das mondäne San Remo reihen sich traditionelle Strandbäder, und im gebirgigen Hinterland wachsen die weltberühmten Taggiasca-Oliven - seit Generationen von Hand geerntet.
In Genua, der Hauptstadt Liguriens, bringen Straßenmusiker die Gassen der Altstadt zum Klingen, die wegen ihrer Schönheit zum UNESCO Welterbe zählt. Rund um Genua wächst das Basilikum für das berühmte Pesto Genovese, das in den Restaurants noch ganz traditionell von Hand gestampft wird.
Im Osten Liguriens liegen die beliebte Halbinsel Portofino und der Nationalpark Cinque Terre mit seinen fünf pittoresken Fischerdörfern, die wie Schwalbennester an den Klippen kleben. Dank unzähliger, von Hand errichteter Trockenmauern wachsen an den Steilhängen Trauben für den Sciacchetrà Wein. Der goldgelbe Dessertwein ist eine Spezialität der Region.

Beautiful string of five old colorful fishing villages on steep terraces of rugged Italian Riviera were only accessible by mule tracks and boats, until recently. Now there are three ways to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. First is to hike the trails, second option is to use a ferry boat available every spring and summer and the third option is to take a train. Cinque Terre in Italy is one of the most scenic beach destinations I've been to. Cinque Terre translates to five towns. We stayed in Riomaggiore, one of the fishing towns of the Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre Italy is one of the most scenic beach destinations I've been to.

CINQUE TERRE vs. THE AMALFI COAST (Coastal Italy Comparisons)
Upon researching where I should travel to Coastal Italy, I was stumped between Cinque Terre (near Florence) or Amalfi Coast (Southern Italy)... SO WE DID BOTH! Is the biggest (about 1500 inhabitants) and the oldest of the Cinque Terre’s villages. It is divided into 2 parts: the old and the new village. The biggest beach of the entire coast is situated here.
The village is located on hills cultivated with lemons, vines and olives.Is also suited to those who enjoy a vacation by the beach; because there are many beaches here and they are the only sand beaches in this area.
2:21 Vernazza
Is perhaps the most beautiful of all the Cinque Terre’s villages, even considering that in 2011 it has suffered the most from flood.
Was founded about 1000 A.D. and was ruled by the Republic of Genoa starting in 1276.
The village is surrounded by very steeply-terraced olive groves which are said to produce among the finest olive oil in the country.
5:13 Corniglia
Is the smallest and the highest of the Cinque Terre five villages. It is the only town that does not have a seaport.
The tiny village is connected to its train station by a footpath known as Lardarina (377 stairs).
Corniglia is connected to the other villages of the Cinque Terre by well kept footpaths, maintained by the park staff.
5:57 Manarola
Is the second village of the Cinque Terre on the side of La Spezia.
Built on a high rock 70 metres above sea level, is one of the most charming and romantic of the Cinque Terre villages.The tiny harbor features a boat ramp, picturesque multicoloured houses facing the sea, a tiny piazza with seafood restaurants.
Path of Love (Sentiero dell’Amore), famous throughout the Cinque Terre, starts from Manarola and not far away there is a wine cellar in one of the vineyards.
8:11 Riomaggiore
Is the first village of the Cinque Terre on the side of La Spezia. The main town is separated from the railway station and the wharf by tunnels, so it can be said that the town is divided into three parts: the railway station (from which the famous Way of Love starts), the old town and the wharf (which has a mooring and a small rocky beach).
The origins of Riomaggiore date back to the 8th Century, when the inhabitants of the Vara valley, searching a milder climate to raise grapevines and olive-trees without the fear of pirate raids, moved towards the coast.

Often been dubbed the “sixth” Cinque Terre town, offering what its more famous counterparts are known for—splendid seaside settings, extraordinarily scenic coastlines and walking trails, and rustic Ligurian cuisine.
It is impossible to reach to it by train,you have to drive/take a bus from La Spezia or come by boat.

In the fourth instalment of our series, US travelers Allison and Eric Bieller will be feasting their way through Cinque Terre, on the Italian Riviera. The 12-kilometer stretch of coastline in the Liguria region, along with its picturesque villages, is a UNESCO- World Heritage site.
Eric and Allison check out all five of the villages – Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore, and sample delicious Italian specialities. Buon appetito!

In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists – but with the world.
