Exploring the Isle of Man: The Manx Electric Railway & The Snaefell Mountain Railway.
In part one of this two-part series, I'm taking the Manx Electric Railway from Douglas to Laxey where I'll change trams onto the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a trip up to the famous summit. On the way, I'll tell you all about the trams and show you some of the scenery as we overcome a temporary breakdown, cloudy weather and railway closures I should have known about before planning ahead.
Things don't always go to plan do they but I hope you see enough of the trams that were running to make you want to go and explore the Isle of Man yourself. I'm glad I did.

The MER trams have stopped using the station at Ramsey. The trams now stop short behind a white, plastic, fence. There is a suggestion to build a new public transport hub on the old site.

Here is a 30 minute video taken on the Manx Electric Railway on 29 April 2022 on a David Williams Charter. No tripod was used so you will have a chance to see how good - or not - the image stabiliser on the Sony AX-33 video camera is. We didn't quite make it to Ramsey because the final section was single-line working and to carry on would have meant waiting for other trams to clear the section. I hope to get all the way to Ramsey next time...
Note there is an error with the date of the charter - it was 29 April 2022 not 2020! I'll correct it but not immediately.
