Mt Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia (3,726m/12,224ft), part of the Mount Rinjani National Park. It is an active volcano with last eruptions in 2010 and 2015. Enjoy the stunning views of the park during three days trekking to the top.

Mount Rinjani, one of Indonesia's best volcanoes which can be hiked in two days. Located on the island of Lombok, and with a volcano inside a lake, inside a volcano you won’t find many like it. Many people travel to Indonesia to experience Bali, however this was #1 of my list of things to do while in Indonesia and has been on my bucket list for 10 years. It was extra special to be able to meet my family and complete the hike with them!
If you plan on going to Mount Rinjani beware of the outfitter that you choose. Many of them pollute the environment on the mountain. Choose a responsible tour company that leaves no trace. We recommend Rudy Trekker who we chose for our trip:

TOREAN, Just 2 km from senaru village, this route famous for the climber who want direct to The lake camp, the trails flatter then from senaru or from sembalun route, the trail is nice and fantastic

Day 01: Senaru – Torean Villages - lake
Early morning at 6:30 am drive to Torean village ( it take around 30 minute , fetch the porter, 7 :00 am we start trek in the rain forest and we walking around the edge of the volley, up and down hill. Around 6 o’clock we will arrive on the lake, lunch on the route. overnight on the lake.
Day 02: Lake – Rim II ( Sembalun crater )
After breakfast, enjoy the beautiful panorama in Segara Anak Lake.
Today we will spend relaxing in the near by hot spring pool and exploring to the steaming milk caves (lunch will prepare by porter awhile you have sauna). About 2o'clock afternoon, we start climb up to second rim (Sembalun Crater) and overnight here.
Day 3: Rim II – Summit - Sembalun - Senggigi
Summit season beginning at 3 o’clock in the morning. We climb several ridges for 3hrs until reaching the true Rinjani summit. The view across the gilis, bali, lombok and sumbawa are spectacular.
After the obligatory photographs and enjoy the spectacular panorama descend to crater (the camp). Arrive at the camp Having breakfast by special mountain jaffle or pancake or scramble egg with toast then we descend to sembalun village. Around 3 o'clock noon you will be ready at Sembalun village, and then around 6.00pm you will be arriving at your hotel in senggigi..

RINJANI: Danger of the Beauty
Earthquake with the magnitude of 6.4 on Richter scale struck on Lombok Island yesterday (29 July 2018). The quake stranded hundred of hikers on Mt. Rinjani.
Rinjani is an active volcano standing 3,726 m above sea level on Lombok Island of Indonesia. With a lake within its crater and another active volcano in the lake make iconic scenery of Mt. Rinjani.
This unique view of the volcano calls adventurers around the globe to explore its beauty. So did we.
Just last month we visited Mt. Rinjani by taking a 3-days-2-nights trek to the summit. The trail was challenging with sheer cliffs and exposed summit ridge covered in loose volcanic screes.
At this moment many of the trekkers on the mountain have already made their way out to safety. So we would love to show you the dangerous beauty Mt. Rinjani.

At 3,726 m, Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, second only to Mount Kerinci on Sumatra, and it dominates the landscape of the relatively small island of Lombok. Within its huge 50 km² caldera sits the crater lake Segara Anak (Child of the Sea). Eruptions within the caldera have formed a new small cone called appropriately enough, Gunung Baru (New Mountain). Segara Anak has a natural hot spring. The mountain and its satellites form the Mount Rinjani National Park (Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani) – officially 41,000 hectares within the park boundaries and a further 66,000 hectares of protected forest outside.

I still can't believe we made it to the crater rim of Mount Rinjani, 2641m above sea level. We took the 2D1N package with Hallo Trekker via Senaru and it was easily one of the most challenging things I've ever done. I was so far out of my comfort zone and I am so glad I did it.
If you are new to climbing mountains like we are, this isn't the easiest to climb but it's doable and worth every single aching bone in your body!
In hindsight, I wish I had taken more videos but I won't dwell on that. I'll forever remember the stunning views that weren't captured on camera.

Unfortunately there is no footage of the hike up to mount Rinjani as the videographer (being me) did not summit. ????????

Welcome to Rinjani Monkey Retreat 2015.
Every year, The LostBoys hold an annual mountain climbing that we call Monkey Retreat. For the third time in a row, we do this enviroment cleaning tradition in Indonesia's third highest mountain named Mount Rinjani. Stands at 3,726 meters (12,224 ft) tall this mountain provides us with its mind-blowing views of Savanna, Pine and Rain Forest, the beauty of fresh water Lake and the wonderful landscape of the new born mountain with the cold vulcanic lava at the top.
We spent 6 days and 5 nights on this mountain. First, we stayed on Sembalun side for two nights before we reach the Summit and then another three nights next to the Lake called Segara Anak, which is located in the middle of the mountain.
In order to keep the idea of Eco Climbing, beside embracing the beauty of the nature, we cleaned up some rubbish along the way, and also removed the vandalism on the rocks, which is a new clean up that we did and planning to do more in the future.
This video is the start of our campaign on #THISisINDONESIA project. A side project of The LostBoys in capturing the beauty of Nature, Culture, n People around Indonesia, with the purpose of showing the world the true diversity of this beautiful country in a deeper and closer look, and not just on the tourism side but on every aspect of the Great Indonesia.
