Guernsey 1960s cine film

I apologise for the 'quality' of this video, it was just a quick 'production' while drinking tea, video of cine, taken many years ago by my father whilst on holiday in Guernsey.
Guernsey was then, and I am told still is, a beautiful holiday destination, with a rich and fascinating history. I still like to tell people that England is a colony of Guernsey, as it is the last bit of the old Dukedom of Normandy, and William was Duke of Normandy before he was King of England!
Watching this myself took me back to the darkened front room of the family home, with 'Uncle' Sid and Yvonne from next door, and 'Uncle' Vic and 'Aunty' Joyce from along the road watching our latest films. Cigarette smoke would fill the room, and Mum would moan about how it made the curtains smell for days.
The films would sometimes jam, and Dad would leap to the projector before the film got too badly burned.
Happy days.

1960s holiday in Guernsey

More from the 'archive', this is film shot in Guernsey, possibly 1969.
The south coast is rugged, and could be 'walked' by a cliff top path. 'It was decided' that the family would forego the pleasure of a restful day on the beach, but would 'do the walk'. And jolly glad I am that we did.

Aurigny Trislander G-RLON Guernsey to Jersey GR812 11 Feb 2014

GR812
0820 11 Feb 2014
Guernsey to Jersey at not above 1000ft.
Nearly full just one seat empty (next to me)
Relatively turbulent.

My penultimate flight on an Aurigny Trislander G-RLON. Next month Aurigny have decided to so called 'code share' with Blueislands for Jersey/Guernsey. You will only be able to travel on Blueislands Jersey/Guernsey from March no more Trislander to Jersey. It will end in tears, Blueislands are most definitely not the islanders favourite airline. They are notorious at cancellations and delays.

I first traveled Guernsey Jersey in the late 60's and 70's on Aurigny Islanders. Each passenger had to get on the scales and be weighed so they could work out the weight and balance. Now my association with the Britten-Norman hardware is over.

Spike told me the flight is right on the limit, crosswinds gusting over 30Kts. Superb service from all at Aurigny, especially the pilot ( forgot to note his name)

Not many airliners notch up 100,000 flights, but G-RLON, a Britten-Norman Trislander built in 1975 reached the landmark on 29 January.

VisitGuernsey: Welcome To Guernsey

Nestling snugly in the bay of St Malo and 70 miles from mainland Britain, the Channel Island of Guernsey is a heady mix of French and British cultures. This collision of lifestyles has created a unique environment, where familiarity is tempered by the unexpected, but where you'll always feel welcome. It's a very special place, one that leaves a lasting impression on all who visit.

Here you'll discover a community that looks to the future for inspiration, but where traditional values still hold sway; where the influence of the Continent is keenly felt, but not to the extent that it dents an unwavering loyalty to the British Crown; and where the dynamism of the global finance industry sits easily alongside centuries old traditions.

Of course for many people, it's the scenery that makes Guernsey so special. And it's easy to see why. Our cliffs, coves and commons provide a real treat for walkers and the abundance and variety of our floral heritage will inspire you. Plus there are the sister islands of Herm, Sark and Alderney to explore.
