Any trip to India cannot be complete without visiting Rajasthan. This north-western state of India is a favorite amongst travelers and with good reason. The colorful cities, glorious history, grand palaces/forts, intricately carved temples, and golden sand dunes can attract almost every type of traveler. Let us not forget the vibrant culture, warm locals, traditional bazaars, exotic wildlife, and mouth-watering cuisine.
Rajasthan is the largest state in India stretching over an area of around 3.5 lakh square kilometers. Planning an itinerary for Rajasthan can be challenging. Getting around the massive state is time-consuming as internal flights are limited and ‘popular’ cities are set far apart. Unless you visit Rajasthan for a month, you cannot visit all the attractions. However, most of us have limited time to spare and have to focus on the major highlights. This 7-day and 10-day itinerary will take you through the must-visit sites of Rajasthan.
All the big tourist cities in Rajasthan like Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur are linked to Delhi and Mumbai by flight. So, you can make any of them your starting point. I would recommend Jaipur, as the capital city is very well connected to all the major cities of India. There are convenient options available to reach Jaipur whatever may be your mode of transport. Flights to Jodhpur and Udaipur are very limited and are prone to cancellations and rescheduling. Flights to Jaisalmer have started recently, but they are available only in the peak winter season.
Detailed Day Wise Itinerary
DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN JAIPUR
We will Pick you up from Jaipur Airport / Railway Station by placard carrying driver and transfer to Hotel. Later visit the Pink City, City Palace, the ancient Observatory and Local Market. Overnight Jaipur.
Places to visit in Jaipur: Hawa mahal, City Palace, Jantar Manatar, Jal Mahal & Local Market.
DAY 02: JAIPUR - JODHPUR (350 KMS / 7 HRS)
After breakfast drive to Jodhpur. Later city tour of Jodhpur visit the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Bazaars of Jodhpur evening view the Umaid Bhawan Palace. Over night at Jodhpur.
Places to visit in Jodhpur: Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Garden & Local market.
DAY 03: JODHPUR - JAISALMER (330 KMS / 6 HRS)
After breakfast in the morning drive to Jaisalmer on the way stop at Ossian to visit the Jain Temple and over night at Jaisalmer.

DAY 04: JAISALMER SIGHTSEEING
After Breakfast we visit the carved Havellis, fort, Jain temple, Gadisar Lake and Drive to Sam dunes for a Camel ride and sunset in the Desert Over night at Jaisalmer.
Places to visit in Jaisalmer: Ancient Havelis, Gadisar Lake, Sand Dunes and Rajasthani cultural show.
DAY 05: JAISALMER - RANAKPUR - UDAIPUR (660 KMS / 9 HRS)
Morning drive to Udaipur en route visiting Ranakpur Jain Temples. In Udaipur Check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure. Evening enjoy a romantic Boat ride at Lake Pichhola visiting Jag Mandir. Overnight Udaipur.

DAY 06: UDAIPUR SIGHTSEEING
Morning tour of Udaipur. Visit the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, drive around Fatehsagar Lake, Sahelion ki bari and Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir. Afternoon free. Overnight Udaipur.
Places to visit in Udaipur: City Place, Fatehsaga Lake, Shaheliyon ki bari, Jagdish Temple & Bhartiya Lok Kala Manadal.
DAY 07: UDAIPUR - PUSHKAR - JAIPUR (450 KMS / 7 HRS)
After breakfast drive to Jaipur en route visiting Pushkar. In Pushkar, visit the holy Lake and also the famous Brahma Temple. Pushkar is one of the holiest places for Hindus. Overnight Jaipur.

DAY 08: DEPARTURE FROM JAIPUR
Morning tour of Jaipur. Visit the Amber Fort - the ancient capital of the State. Visit the Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors. Later drive back to Jaipur airport / Train station for your home destination. (Tour ends here with sweet memories)

Tall, proud and powerful, Fort Meherangarh is located on a hill a hundred and twenty metres above the Indian town of Jodhpur. The fort dates back to 1459 and Rao Jodha, the leader of the Rathor, one of the country’s most influential aristocratic families.The rooms, halls and courtyards of the palace still exude the legendary atmosphere and magical power of the former maharajas. However, gruesome events once took place in this location: the handprints of a former ruler’s wives serve as a reminder of a cruel Hindu tradition. The burning to death of widows on their dead husband’s funeral pyre was practised right up until the middle of the 20th century even though the then British colonial leaders prohibited it. Within sight of the fort there is another intriguing landmark of Jodhpur, the Jaswant Thada, magnificent burial place of the Rathor Dynasty. The garden was once used for cremation ceremonies. Its most striking memorial was built in honour of Jaswant Singh The Second. It is not surprising that Fort Meherangarh and the funeral monuments of Jaswant Thada are considered to be among the most important sites Jodhpur, former capital of the Marwar princes.

The facade of the city’s most famous landmark, the Palace Of The Winds, is one of the most photographed sights in India. Around forty-two kilometres west of Jaisalmer the Desert National Park helps visitors to experience the natural beauty of the remote Thar Desert. At night the inhabitants of the desert, accompanied by traditional and exotic sounds, display the oriental side of their culture. Traditional music and dance are part of the nocturnal ambience of the desert and create an evocative scene straight out of the One Thousand And One Nights. With around seven hundred thousand inhabitants Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. The Meherangarh Museum contains an extensive collection of historic objects that once belonged to the rulers of Jodhpur. Agra is the most popular tourist destination in India. Between 1630 and 1653 Shah Jahan built a unique monument here that is one of the most famous buildings in the world, the Taj Mahal, a magnificent example of Mughal architecture that is synonymous with India itself. Historically, culturally and scenically the journey has provided many colourful impressions of Royal Rajasthan, the legendary kingdom of India’s Rajput and Mughal rulers.

The mighty fort rises up like a staircase upon a mountain side that is located between two ranges of the Aravalli Mountains.Typical of most palaces in Rajasthan, the fort’s high and sturdy walls that are interspersed with bastions and balconies give the impression of a castle. The Amber Palace was constructed in several stages between 1600 and 1727. After passing through a small gate there is the impressive main gate of Suraj Pol that is the entrance to a lower courtyard, Jaleb Chow. The Jass Mandir Pavilion with its artistically designed lattice window is located on the terrace like roof of a private audience hall. The windows provide a welcome cool breeze during hot weather as well as a marvellous view of the surrounding scenery.
