Welcome to a walk in the center of Larnaca, one of the most popular resorts on the island of Cyprus. Larnaca is the third largest city in the country after Nicosia and Limassol, as well as a port city on the south-east coast of Cyprus. It is home to Cyprus' main international airport, Larnaca International Airport, and numerous museums and monuments. In 2015, it had a population of 84,900 and is the second most important port and an important tourist center. Larnaca Salt Lake is located on the western edge of the city. Larnaca is famous for its palm promenade, also called Finikoudes, as well as the Church of Saint Lazarus, Sultan Tekke Hall, Kamares Aqueduct and Larnaca Castle. It is built on the ruins of the ancient Citium, which was the birthplace of the Stoic philosopher Zeno. Larnaca is named after the huge number of sarcophagi found in the modern city (in ancient Greek Larnax means - box, chest).

A complete walk of Finikoudes Beach | Larnaca city beach | Trip to Cyprus 2021
Finikoudes Beach is located right in the centre of Larnaca, the third largest city in Cyprus. Along the 500 m long beach is a promenade where you will find a variety of international restaurants, shops and hotel complexes. Larnaka's sandy beach is bordered on one side by the harbour and on the other by the city castle.
Finikoudes Beach by day is the place where open air events such as concerts and sporting events take place. A large grandstand has been built on the east side of the beach especially for this purpose. You'll also find plenty of umbrellas and sunbeds on site, which you can use for a small extra charge. You can get your body in shape by playing beach volleyball or on the fitness course. Another way to work out is to try windsurfing at Finikoudes Beach. The beach is located in a shallow water area and offers the best conditions for beginners and advanced windsurfers. In the winter months, experienced water sports enthusiasts also like to come to the beach, as the wind blows strongest at this time of year. Due to its extremely shallow water, the holiday beach is very suitable for families with small children. They can splash around in the water and build sandcastles. Although the beach is regularly cleaned by the municipality, you will still find a lot of algae in one place or another.
Finikoudes Beach at night is generally forbidden to swim on the beach at night, but with a little luck you can experience an impressive natural spectacle. At night, the waves glow with luminescent plankton organisms. When you touch the surface of the water with your hand or foot, the tiny creatures are set in motion and produce what is colloquially known as sea glow. Unfortunately, this experience can only be observed in the right weather conditions. Anyone who is not lucky can still enjoy a cocktail from the beach bar. It is open all night and regularly hosts parties.

Today I invite you for a walk on the most famous promenade of Larnaca - Finikoudes.
Finikoudes is the city beach of Larnaca, located between the old and new ports. It is not very big: only 500 m in length. The sand is of volcanic origin, so it is gray and coarse: not very beautiful, but very clean.
Palm trees were planted along the coast in 1922 and the alley was named Finikoudes - small trees. Palm trees have grown, but the name remains.
Finikoudes is the most comfortable of all the beaches of Larnaca, it has been awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanliness and safety.
A promenade stretches along the shore, surrounded by palm trees and flower beds on both sides. There are many establishments where you can eat or drink, there are clubs and bars that work at night. When the sun sets, another life begins on the embankment: romantic walks, live music concerts.
