Ecuador - NOT What We Expected!

Is traveling to Ecuador on your Bucket List? It wasn’t for us, but this small South American country completely blew us away. Stepping into the Amazon jungle, visiting one of the world's most active volcanoes (Cotopaxi), swimming in some of the countless waterfalls and hot springs in the Andes mountains, and cruising off the Pacific coastline to witness the yearly Humpback whale migration, it was definitely a trip for the books. We fell in love with the warm and welcoming people of Ecuador, the environmental diversity, and the natural beauty of the land. Ecuador is the perfect destination for travelers looking to get off the beaten path and experience so much of what South America has to offer.

Ecuador Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Ecuador.
Ecuador is the smallest of the Andes’ states in South America and a land that derived its name from the Equator. A natural paradise with a living Indian culture and captivating colonial towns that was once part of the Inca Realm and later the sought-after possession of various European colonial powers. Quito, the divine city, is the capital of Ecuador. Steep and narrow steps lead downhill to the Centro Historico in which many of its small buildings have been rebuilt several times due to devastating earthquakes. In 1536, Quito was newly founded and built on the ruins of an Inca town. West of Quito the edge of the extinct Pululahua Volcano is accessible by car. It is the largest volcanic crater in South America and the huge caldera with its steep slopes has a diameter of four to five kilometres and is hundreds of metres deep. One and a half hours from Quito are the Termas De Papallacta, the most beautiful spa baths in Ecuador. Hot springs were discovered here and an infrastructure built to make them accessible to tourism, an idyllic spot set in remote nature and at an altitude of around four thousand metres above sea level. The southern sierra of Ecuador is a green and fertile landscape. The Andes is flatter here and the peaks of the volcanoes are free from snow. This is the most important monument of Incan culture in Ecuador, the ruins of Ingapirca, a location with a long and dramatic past. Around a thousand kilometres from Ecuador, within the Pacific Ocean, is a scattered group of nineteen volcanic islands, the Galápagos Islands and even below the water there are creatures that seem to come from another world. Ecuador is truly fascinating due to its vast variety of culture and nature and its amazing mountain landscapes are the backbone of the country. Ecuador is a unique adventure where South America is at its most beautiful!

The cloud forest awaits...

We visited Ecuador once before but quickly realized there was so much more to be discovered in this beautifully diverse South American country. From adventuring through the cloud forests and discovering tiny glass frogs at Mashpi Lodge, to exploring historic Hacienda Zuleta nestled in the Avenue of Volcanoes among ancient ceremonial pyramids, hiking through the rugged landscape of Cuenca dotted with wild alpacas and horses roaming the plains, and participating in an enchanting Shamanic blessing with the Saraguro people in Loja, we feel like we truly have a more complete understanding of this incredible country after this trip.

We are thrilled to have been sponsored by the Ecuador Tourism Board to produce this video, and to help launch the Ecuador Film Residency program for content creators around the world. To find out more about the Ecuador Film Residency click here:

Quito Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Quito – Welcome to the closest national capital to the sun and join us as we explore all its hottest attractions.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Quito:

San Francisco de Quito, as this harmonious city is officially called, is the capital of Ecuador and sits high in the Andes straddling the equator. A #Quito #vacation means balance. Its World Heritage protected Old Town is contrasted by its progressive New Town.

The New Town, or La Mariscal, is centered on the bustling Plaza del Quinde and has markets, trendy cafés and nightlife. #Visit the Plaza de la Independencia, the Civic heart of Old Town, overlooked by the Municipal Palace, Archbishop’s Palace and Presidential Palace.

The Pichincha Volcano was once the setting of a historic battle that resulted in Quito’s liberation from Spain. But it’s the Cotopaxi Volcano, that is the Quito’s most famous landmark. While in the area, you can’t miss the Mitad del Mundo Monument and the Intiñan Solar Museum where you walk the line of the equator and be in two hemispheres at the same time.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Galapagos Islands - How is this Real Life?!

What do you imagine when you hear the word Galápagos? If you're interested in booking this tour (or one similar), click this link for 5% off your booking:

We remember first reading about this island sanctuary, a place that has been undisturbed for millennia and overflowing with fearless life forms due to having evolved without human interference. But what the books fail to mention is that you truly have to experience this paradise in person to fully understand how spectacular it is. Come along on a Galapagos cruise to discover endemic species like the massive land tortoises, swim with penguins and playful sea lions, dive with hammerheads and spotted eagle rays, and carefully step around more iguanas than you could ever count as we explore the islands.
