Exploring Dubai's Souks and Markets (Wearing a local Shemagh)
Dubai souks are world famous, and although we have explored the textile souk and the gold souk, we were yet to explore the spice souk.
traveling to the spice souk is simple as many roads lead to it but we decided to do it a little differently by climbing onto an Abra on the Dubai creek and taking a short boat ride. Now this onky coat AED 1 per person which is soooo cheap amd probably one of the coolest things you will do in Dubai. Guess not all things need to be expensive.
after getting off the Abra and exploring the Dubai souks, we came to realise that everybody wants you to see their shops and they will constantly call you to come have a look.
we found a shop where the store man tought us all about the spices as what they used for but the beat part was eating the camel milk date. Yes, i said it, CAMEL MILK cholocate Date.

Souks of Dubai (GOLD market tour + Textile + Spice + Perfume)
The highlight of our Dubai souk tour was visiting the Dubai Gold Market. The Dubai Gold Market hosts the world's largest gold ring. It weighs 64kg. There were so many shops filled with beautiful jewelery. Mohammed, from Gold House, was kind enough to give us information about the beautiful gold jewelry in his shop. In addition to visiting the gold souk, we also explored the textile market. The shops were filled with beautiful fabrics and souvenirs. The spice souk was interesting because there were spices that I didn't recognize. Our noses were filled with so many smells while walking through the spice market. One man at a spice market shop gave us a tour and told us about the spices, nuts, and dried fruits in his store. Finally, we visited the perfume market. We had a lot of fun smelling the various scents. It was great to interact with the salespeople and see all of the wonderful things for sale. Another highlight of our souk tour was taking an abra boat from one side of the Dubai Creek to the other side. These water taxis run constantly and are a cheap, fun way to get across the creek to the other souks. Exploring the souks in Dubai is an interesting way to spend the day.

2022 Gold and Spice Souk
Gold Souk - This traditional market offers hundreds of stores selling primarily gold jewelry but also silver and precious stone jewelry in intricate Arab and Indian designs. Visitors often spend a whole day here!
Spice Souk- The Spice Souk is located in Deira, in eastern Dubai, and is adjacent to the Dubai Gold Souk. The Spice Souk is in the locality of Al Ras, on Baniyas Street. The souk comprises several narrow lanes which are lined with open and closed-roof stores, and is a tourist attraction. Stores in the Spice Souk sell a variety of fragrances and spices from frankincense and shisha to the many herbs used in Arabic and South Asian food. In addition, several household, textiles, tea, incense, rugs and artifacts are also sold in the Spice Souk
Abra Ride- An abra is a traditional boat made of wood.
Abras are used to ferry people across the Dubai Creek in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They travel between the water station at Shindagha/Al Ghubaiba on the Bur Dubai side, and the water station at Al Sabkha on the Deira side. The abras depart every few minutes. The fare is 1 dirham, which is paid to the ferry driver.

Looking for spices, textile, abaya, Arabic decorations, carpets, cashmere, jewelries, souvenirs and more. While talking about souks in Dubai, visitors and residents shouldn't overlook this waterfront souk in Bur Dubai. Named the Bur Dubai Grand Souq, it is most popularly known as Bur Dubai Souk or even as Old Souk. Located along Al Seef and by riding the boat (known as Abra) from Abra Station Naif Deira. Winter season is the perfect time to visit.
For residents and tourists, this is definitely a great market to visit. Shopkeepers have their best wares laid out, with scraps of paper with their best offers pinned on certain products. When you go in, be ready to use all of your bargaining techniques and carry change.
The entrance is marked with an arch and a board with 'Bur Dubai Grand Souq' written in English and Arabic. Don't forget to take the money shot from the entrance inward, which shows the shopping lane stretching inward.
As you walk through, you will be called in by several shopkeepers. Don't be hesitant to politely reject in case you're not interested. If you do step in to check the products, ask for prices before they even attempt to measure and pack - and trust us, they will rush to do so the minute you look at something.
However, the shopkeepers are very friendly and will not trouble you in case you walk off and are more than happy to open up packed items to help you find the ones you may end up buying. You'll find shopkeepers from many parts of the world in the souk - most speak more than 3 languages.
When buying clothes here, ensure you ask about care instructions - some may not survive a washing machine cycle. Some stores allow you to return and exchange clothes in case they don't fit, given they are returned in saleable condition and within a limited number of days. Make sure you ask for these options, especially if you stay somewhere close or plan to return. Some clothes' stores also have fitting rooms but we usually suggest that, while visiting bazaars such as these anywhere in the world, don't use these if you're worried about privacy.
When we say dinner-ware we mean clay or earthenware bowls of various sizes, coasters, plates with beautiful colorful designs on white. These start at Dh10, but you could bargain and lower the rate depending on how many you plan to purchase.
You will also be able to buy Dubai souvenirs here such as sand art glass bottles, bags, magnets, perfumes and more. Make sure you check prices at least two stores before making a purchase. You will also find heaps of turmeric, ginger, and other fragrant spices, along with many options of oud (agarwood).
Just outside the souk is a seating area next to abra stations. On both sides of the souk, you'll find small cafes and stalls where you can sit down and have a bite to eat. Families visit this area to enjoy the cooler weather with walks, or hangout with kids in tow at the free waterfront seating.
Apart from the usual soft drinks, tea, or coffee at the stall right outside, for Dh10 you can get fresh chilled tender coconut water - they cut the coconut right in front of you. You could also try freshly juiced sugarcane. There is also a shawarma stall on the opposite side of the road from the station side.
The nearest metro station is Al Ghubaiba metro station or you could drive to the area (Google Map below). Paid RTA parking is available near the souk - Dh3 per hour. Timings: 10am to 10.30pm.

Bur Dubai Souk, Spice Market and Textile Souk Dubai
Bur Dubai Souk near Dubai Museum is also known as the Spice market and Textile Souk. Souvenirs and knick-knacks are on sale here, but the area is best know for its stunning array of fabrics. You can also take an Abra to the other side of the creek to visit the spice market. A must visit for tourists. RTA water taxi can transport you from the Dubai Marina in 30 minutes to the Souk, while you enjoy the amazing Dubai Skyline from the water. A complete different view on the city. Well worth the ride.

A compilation of our tour through the Dubai souks - Textile, Gold and Spice souks (markets), and the local boat ride - Abra - over the Dubai Creek.
The tours takes you through Textile souk, through the cobbled market lanes show casing the array of colourful textiles, heading towards the Dubai Creek to take the local boat taxi - Abra. The boat ride is one of the highlights of the tour, with its magnificent views of Dubai and only costing 1 dirham.
Once across the Creek the tours takes you through the lavish experience of Gold Souk - displaying the awesome displays of gold jewellery - look out for the large ring and the gold dress!
And finally through the cobbled streets of Spice Souk. The famous spices of saffron, chamomile flowers, dried hibiscus flowers, sumac, cardamom, turmeric, thyme, cloves, cinnamon, chilli, and pepper of all colours and varieties, plus of course Dubai's famous fresh dates.

Dubai Creek has been described as a natural saltwater creek, tidal inlet, and watercourse or waterway in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It extends about 9 miles (14 km) inwards and forms a natural port that has traditionally been used for trade and transport.[1] The creek ranges from 200 to 1,200 metres (660 to 3,940 ft) in width while the average depth is about 6.5 to 7 metres (21 to 23 ft).

Dubai souks are world famous, and needs no introduction. We explored the textile, spice souk souk and gold souk.
For traveling to the spice souk & gold souk we decided to take an Abra on the Dubai creek and taking a short boat ride. For just AED 1 per person its is damn cheap and probably one of the coolest things to do in Dubai. See everything in Dubai is not expensive.
We found a shop where the shopkeeper introduced us to exotic spices, and offered us Iranian and Camel milk chocolate dates! Yum!
After that we saw enormous amount of gold on display, it was insane.

Continuing with the Dubai series with Episode no.4
We are exploring the different side of Dubai, the Old Dubai.
Starting our day with a beautiful walk at Jumeirah Lake Towers, took the Dubai Metro for the first time to a place called Deira ( Old Dubai area), where there are different souks (market).
- Gold Souk
- Spice Souk
- Textile Souk
- Perfume Souk and many others.
We had never seen so much Gold in our lives, of what we saw in the Gold souk. Fragrant lanes of Spices enticed us at Spice Souk.
We also experienced the old era of Dubai of how Emirati's lived before through Al Fahidi Historical District. Also, it comprises of cool wall arts, cafes, museums, galleries.
Couldn't cover much of Meena bazaar though.
If you want a break from Skyscrapers, Old Dubai is a place one can enjoy the Different side of Dubai, much of cultural, historical Dubai.

Dubai Gold Souk with Dubai Creek Crossing by Abra
This 4k video is a tour starting in Dubai gold souk, into the spice souk and then a crossing of Dubai (United Arab Emirates) creek on a traditional boat called an Abra - Dubai Ferry. The area around the Dubai Creek is known as Al Seef Dubai and this is the heritage area of Dubai. It takes passengers Old Souk Abra Station to Bur Dubai Abra Station. You can catch this Abra from close to the Gold Souk in Deira. From the Abra you get a great view of old Dubai with the Mosques and Souks that run along side the creek, it is also a great boat trip at an amazingly low price. The cost of the Abra trip is only 1 Dirham at time of writing (2019). A really relaxing boat trip and great way to see the city from a new perspective. There are many souks around the Dubai creek including the gold souk, spice souk, grand souk
