The best diving in Central America is in Roatan, Honduras. Spent 10 days in April 2021 scuba diving with West Bay Divers enjoying the South Shore, West Bay, West End and Northwest area dive sites. Love the Mesoamerican Reef... it's pristine and lush, teaming with abundant aquatic life. One of the best dive destinations in the world. This is our seventh dive trip to this location. It's never enough.

Roatan Scuba Diving Highlights (with Wrecks and Fish ID) in HD
Highlights of 17 hour-long dives in Roatán, Honduras, from July 2016. Most fish species are labeled to help you learn the species. Highlights include a night dive viewing of a Caribbean Reef Octopus, a daytime viewing of a school of Caribbean Reef Squid, a Longlure Frogfish, and three wreck dives. Most dives are from the northern coast near West Bay. The final two dives are near Mary's Place on the southern side of the island. We dove with Seagrape Plantation Dive Resort for most dives, and with Barefoot Dive Resort for the two dives in the Mary's Place area. Enjoy!

Utila and Roatan are Bay Islands of Honduras, in the Caribbean, north of the mainland. They’re known for coral reefs and many dive sites. I spent a week in Utila doing my advanced diving course and 3 days on the resort island Roatan. I ended catching a ride on a small aircraft with my mate Andrew between the islands. I was supposed to catch a ferry but when the opportunity arrives grab it by the balls and fly in this tin can of a machine. There’s a great shipwreck dive in there as well.

What is Like to Dive in Roatan
I have been hearing about Roatan for years, and how it's one of the best places in the world to SCUBA dive. I just found out for myself as I took a couple of days to dive in its crystal clear waters!
About 33 miles off the coast of Honduras lies a gorgeous Caribbean gem: the island of Roatan. The island’s vary and dazzling array of marine life can be found on both shallow reefs and plummeting walls. It is well-known as a destination for hunting macro critters but equally famous for encountering the largest fish in the sea: majestic whale sharks. Roatan is perfectly suited for new and veteran divers alike. With coral gardens, shipwrecks such as the Odyssey and Aguila, sand flats full of hidden delights, and action-packed shark dives, there’s never a dull moment underwater.
