The Faroe Islands meet M.I.C.E - unspoiled. unexplored. unbelievable.

The Faroe Islands meet MICE. The destination is modern, original and unconventional. Therefore, the Faroe Islands are the perfect place when it comes to meetings, incentives, conferences and events. Michael Jakobs who is specialized in designing teambuilding programmes describes the Faroe Islands as the perfect destination to bring people out of their comfort zone and make them do together things which they normally wouldn't.

Faroe Islands [4K] - Paradise on the edge of the world?

Wild, windy, undiscovered. The 18 islands of the Faroe Islands are located halfway between Norway and Iceland in the heart of the North Atlantic ocean. The Faroe Islands are the home of the world’s most dramatic landscapes. From the steep coastal cliffs to the unbelievable green landscapes, The Faroe Islands have so much to offer.

I hope you will enjoy this video and don’t forget to share with your friends and subscribe for more captivating travel content.

Traveling to the Faroe Islands was like a dream. The Faroes are unbelievably beautiful and it is something I have never seen before in my life. It is one of the last places that are still unspoiled and wild. Hiking in such a stunning nature with green steep cliffs, rugged peaks, an endless numbers of waterfalls, sheeps, geese, seagulls, cute puffins and roaring ocean, where you won’t see anyone for hours is an incredible experience.

WHAT DO PEOPLE SAY ABOUT MY BOOK?

” I have never been to the Faroes, but my mother was half Danish and half Faroese. My father was posted there during WW2. Alessio’s book brings the islands to life and my mother, when she was ill, loved to look at her homeland in glorious colours. I have given this small, but beautiful book, to two friends for a loan and they went on to buy a copy.“
Kirsten, Great Britain

” Thank you very much for sending me the book in such a timely manner. I see that you have done a great and long work. The book conveys the authenticity and depth of the Faroe Islands. Its diversity of times, people, interiors whose common bond is authenticity and kindness. “
Rafael, Spain

” I loved it. Beautiful photos. I loved the phrase of the first page. You are a great professional. Congratulations! “
Camila, Brasil

” I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the islands through your viewfinder! “
Denisa, Germany

” I browsed your book while I was having dinner in the guesthouse in Mykines, I really enjoyed it so I bought a copy! “
Roberto, Italy

” It is excellent! Congratulations! “
Norman, Faroe Islands Study Circle, Great Britain

” I got your book and it is amazing! “
Sigmundur, Faroe Islands

Hiking in Faroe Islands is a must

Quote from postcard I saw at the airport,

“Think of the world’s population. Now think about how few of these 7 billion people have visited the Faroe Islands. You are actually part of a very small and exclusive group of people in the whole world who have the opportunity to visit these small islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. Lucky you!”

So yeah, it was special.

The Faroe Islands to be Closed for Maintenance, Open for Voluntourism in 2022

How can popular tourist sites remain unspoiled by tourism?
We found a solution and you can become part of it!

After two successful events in 2019 and 2021, we once again call on voluntourists worldwide to sign up for our ‘Closed for Maintenance, Open for Voluntourism’ initiative to help us preserve our beautiful islands, for the good of both future visitors and locals.

From 4 to 6 May 2022 100 participants will work alongside Faroe Islanders working on old village paths, creating safer routes and re-building cairns in return for free accommodation, food and transport on the islands over a three-night period. All projects will be identified by a mix of local municipalities, tourism centres and local villagers.

You can be part of this and sign up today on our website.

Previous ´Closed for Maintenance, Open for Voluntourism´ projects have seen extraordinarily high numbers of volunteers offering to help with thousands of applications from people worldwide.

The total of 200 voluntourists who have taken part in the last two projects have represented more than 25 different nations, all working together with the local Faroese, and making a tangible, positive difference to the environment.

We hope that our annual project will also inspire other countries to set up their own Maintenance Crews, encouraging visitors to help to redress the impact of tourism worldwide.

Registration to become part of the 2022 Maintenance Crew will open today, Tuesday 14 December at 11.00 hrs (UK time) and will remain open for 24 hours; 100 people will be chosen randomly to take part, and will be notified by email in January.

Bygdagøtur fo ger tað lættari og tryggari at ganga eftir bygdagøtum

Skal gongutúrurin vera langur ella stuttur? Skulu børnini við? Skal túrurin vera lættur ella avbjóðandi? Ein nýggj heimasíða, ið kallast bygdagøtur.fo, kann hjálpa at fyrireika gongutúrin eftir bygdagøtum.

“Síðan er eitt amboð hjá okkum at skipa ferðavinnuna í Føroyum betri,” sigur Jóhan Pauli Helgason, menningarleiðari á Visit Faroe Islands. “Vit hava dagliga tørv á einum amboði til at vísa ferðafólki á, hvar tey trygt kunnu ganga sær ein túr, antin sjálvi ella við ferðaleiðara. Hetta eru almennu farleiðirnar í okkara fjøllum, ið øll kunnu nýta, og sum vit eiga at vera errin av at vísa fram.”

Bygdagøtur eru gomlu farleiðirnar millum bygdir, ið hava verið nýttar dagliga hjá ferðandi í mong hundrað ár, áðrenn vegir og tunlar vórðu asfalteraðir. Serligar søgur, hendingar og minni knýta seg at hesum
farleiðum, ið eru virðismiklar at halda viðlíka.

Allir túrar hava gpx-fílu, ið tú kanst taka niður á t.d. telefonina so tú hevur neyvu slóðina við tær á túrinum. Á henda hátt kanst tú tryggja tær, at tú altíð finnur røttu leiðina fram, eisini um t.d. mjørki kemur á teg.

“Tí vilja vit fegin, at øll hjálpa okkum at gera kunningina enn betri. Um fólk hava viðmerkingar til innihaldið ella onkra góða søgu at fortelja, ið átti at verið løgd afturat, vilja vit fegin hoyra frá teimum.”

Til ber at senda tilfar um bygdagøturnar á t-post adressuna bygdagotur@visitfaroeislands.com.

Bygdagøturnar eru at finna á bygdagøtur.fo Seinni í ár verður enska síðan eisini bygd inn í høvuðssíðuna hjá Visit Faroe Islands.

FAROE ISLANDS 2017 | Travel Video HD

My sister and me just got back from our 12-day trip to the Faroe Islands, so we decided to make this amateur travel video about our experience. What the video wants to show, is how diverse and immeasurable the Faroes are. Hope you enjoy!

All shots are handheld and some might therefore be a little bit shaky.
